Joanne and Paul's VR - 4th May 2011

It has been so much fun reading your messages from beginning to end and listening to your podcast! We just renewed our vows at our home church (eloped in Las Vegas 10 years ago-yikes) and had our reception in our backyard. My sister and her family, my mom, and two of our friends are joining us at WDW for 10 days starting July 5th. I, too, helped things along by using my DVC points to get them lodging. We're staying at Animal Kingdom and then Vero Beach. Used up our banked points, current use year, and next year's! Going to try to make us gift bags with cute tags like the ones you made - that was SO creative! Again, thank you so very much for starting such an incredible thread! I really loved it!:bride:

Wow thank you so much. I am glad you enjoyed it!!! I hope you will stay tuned to see the report on the actual day. Randy's CD of photos should be with me any day now (he e-mailed to say he mailed them on 21st and they should take about 10 days), so I am hoping to get it started very soon!!!

So, the fabulous Randy has at last sent us our photos!!!
We couldn't be more thrilled with them!!! He has sent us 6 CDs full of photos of our vow renewal day and of our 'trash the dress' session, plus a preview album of prints which, I assume are his favourites. As far as I am concerned, the man is a genius and is such fun too. You couldn't have a more perfect wedding day photographer IMHO!!!

Anyway here we go with part 1 of our VR day.

We both (rather surprisingly) managed to sleep really well on the night before our special day and awoke fresh and ready for the wonders today would bring!! Today was going to be a very special day for the happy little group staying at the Bay Lake Tower, room 7229!!

I was awake first, and decided to let Paul sleep as long as possible. I knew I still had a few confetti bags to stuff and get ready, so I took my bags and my confetti into the bathroom, sat on the floor and got to work. I must say, I was really pleased with the way the bags turned out!!

JP00555-4-11.jpg

After I had finished the bags and got on with a few other jobs (like putting all the bits which needed to go over to the ceremony site into a box etc), I jumped in the shower. I dressed in a pair of leggings and the the hoodie I had decorated with the 'Move over Cinderella' rhinestone transfer I had puchased from a fabulous Etsy seller (photo of this to come later).
By this time everybody else was up and about, and we headed over to the 'Contempo Cafe' for breakfast. I had some delicious french toast with bacon, OJ and coffee, and although I expected not to be able to eat a bite, I was very hungry, and woofed down the lot!!!
Patricia and her team were expected at 10.00, so we returned to the room to await her arrival. On arriving back at the room, I noticed that the message light on the telephone was flashing. It turned out to be a message from Mickey and Minnie wishing us a great day and offering their congratulations!!! I was so thrilled and was squealing with delight. My Mum just looked at me and shook her head. She really was baffled at my excitement. I said 'It's a Disney thing, Mum, you wouldn't understand' And she really didn't!!!
Paul decided he would go for a swim before going to his Mum's room to get ready. He had plenty of time on his hands as it doesn't take him long to shower and jump into a suit!!!
My friend Tracey (with little Ella, her grandaughter, in tow) and my MIL arrived at our room as they were having their hair done by Patricia too. Suddenly the room seemed to be utter chaos, with people everywhere. It was a fantastic atmosphere, though, and we were all laughing and enjoying being together!!
Patricia arrived right on time and got to work. She did my daughters hair first, and her assistant Alex, got to work on Tracey. When my daughter's hair was done, she was free to annoy her brothers in an attempt to kill some time whilst the rest of us were being beautified!!
Here she is having a play fight with her oldest brother using an inflatable baseball bat!!! I really have raised to well adjusted and mature adults!! :lmao:

Patricia got to work on my hair. I apologise for the state of the room, which seems to resemble a scene from a disaster movie!!

JP00085-4-11-1.jpg

She really is so talented and such fun to be with!!! We laughed together so much!!! Here she is laughing at my youngest, Alfie, who was asking whether he could go to the ceremony dressed like this!!

JP00165-4-11.jpg

When Patricia and Alex (who did my make-up and eyelashes) had finished, I was so pleased with the result. They had worked without a trial and with very little direction and I loved what they achieved!!
I felt my hair was perfect for me and so pretty!!

Whilst all this was going on, Alfie and Ella were getting on with important things in life - playing on the Nintendo DS

Really enjoying the posts and pics - LOOOVE the confetti bags:love: I think its great your kids get along so well - LOL - mine would probaby go at it with a real baseball bat:laughing:

Men have it so easy - only the face to shave, hair to give a quick fix and put on the suit - it's not fair is it - but then we ladies have a lot of fun with our hair and makeup and THE DRESS of course....:woohoo:

Just catching up with your report Joanne. Can't wait to see more wonderful Randy pics:goodvibes

Thanks girls!!

Catherine sweetie - I think males ever grow up. They remain little kids all their lives. But, hey, I guess I never really grew up either!!

Kristie sweetie - Thank you - I loved my hair!!! I highly recommend the lashes as they really make your eyes stand out in the photos. My daughter Emily had really dramatic ones done and they really looked lovely on her!! Mine were more subtle but still made such a difference!!! They lasted two full days ans were really comfortable. I say go for it!!

Jilian sweetie - Everybody loved the confetti bags!! I got the little charms off of Ebay months ago. They were gorgeous and so cheap!!! Try searching for 'Mickey Mouse charms' and see what comes up. The seller may still be out there somewhere!!

Amy sweetie - Be excited, be very excited!!! You will have a perfect day!!

Lacey - Will do sweetie!!!

Sweet Krysten- I am so pleased with Randy's photos!!! He is a dream to work with too. I confess to being totally bowled over by him!!!

Claire sweetie - More on it's way!!

Sweet Andrea - If you have a good photographer, you will not need to think on the day, they will do all the thinking for you!!

Corinna - Thanks so much sweetie!!!

Claire sweetie - Good to hear from you!! How are your plans going?

WiseRabbit (I am so sorry I have forgotten your name) - Thank you for your lovely comments!! I am very lucky that my kids get on so well, but they still have their moments!!! These are rarer now that they are older and the two older ones both adore their baby brother (most of the time!!) Yep, men have it easy in every respect IMHO!!! I do enjoy dressing up though!!!

So with a knock at the door, the genius that is Randy Chapman arrived!! He was early (as he, apparently, always is) and happily engaged in banter with Patricia. The two often work for the same brides, and know each other well!!
Randy set about doing what Randy does best and started photographing all the little details!!

Soon it was time to say goodbye to Patricia, so with a kiss and a promise of rave reviews, she went on her way. I was sorry to see her go as she is so sweet!!

It was soon time to get dressed, and so with help of my daughter and my friend, I changed out of my hoodie and leggings and into the dress I had been longing to wear since first I set eyes on it!!
One of my few regrets about our big day is that I didn't get the girls to lace my dress tighter. I was very comfortable all day, but in some of the photos, I am aware of the dress gaping at the bust (I don't have much to fill it I'm afraid). It was perfect in the bridal boutique as, I guess the girls in there are expert lacers, and Emily, bless her, had laced it at my fittings as practice, but on the day it wasn't quite right. I only noticed it in a few pictures and I am glad I wasn't aware of it at the time, else I would have been worried all day!!

This picture is one Randy has done some fancy editing on - hence the black border!! Why oh why didn't I tidy the bedroom a bit, or at least close the wordrobe door UGH!!!

JP01165-4-11.jpg

Once I was dressed, I felt wonderful!! I was confident that with the expert help from Patricia and Alex, I was making the very best of what God had given me and I was looking as good as I possibly could on that day. You can ask for no more than that!!
Randy decided to take me out on the balcony of our room for some shots

I really wish now that I had had my front teeth straightened as a child. However, back then it wasn't as commonplace in England as it is now, to have such dental work done. My Daddy, bless him, also decided that non-perfect teeth added character to a face!!! Hmm not sure I agree Daddy!!!

When I came back in to the room, little Ella (my friends's grandaughter), who had been watching intently, asked me with a puzzled expression on her face, which Princess's dress I was wearing!!! Bless her, she is so sweet!!! Luckily Randy captured the moment - although I can't remember for the life of me, what answer I gave her!!!

JP01785-4-11.jpg

Meanwhile there was a lot going on in room 7229!!!
MIL's partner had decided to join the 'Rat Pack'

IMGP0370.jpg

And Henry was beside himself with excitement over the imminent proceedings!!!

IMGP0371.jpg

It was at this point that I realized that the flowers were late and started getting jumpy!! Randy (superhero!!) was quickly on the phone to Karen, my planner. I could hear him saying 'Right, okay, I see......' Now I really was panicing!!! When he came off the phone, I said 'Is there a problem?' He flashed me one of his gorgeous smiles and said 'Nothing we can't handle Hun'.
I later found out, (Randy confided the tale to Paul) that Karen, my angel of a planner, had sent the flowers back to have changes made, as when they arrived she had known they were not quite what I was dreaming of!!! She understood my vision so completely, and had the guts to make a stand when she thought I may not be 100% happy!!! That is a planner who knows her job, and is not afraid to do it!!!
Eventually, Randy got a call to say that the flowers were at the front desk and he went, personally to collect them. I would have been a quivering wreck by now if it weren't for him!!
So when the flowers arrived, it is true to say that I wasn't 100% happy with them - I was 120% happy with them!!!! They were everything I could have hoped for and more!!! I was just floored when I first saw them!!! Karen later said that my floral was some of the most beautiful she had ever seen.

JP01905-4-11.jpg

The expression on my face is pure wonder!!

It wasn't long before Randy announced that he was off to get Paul all set up and ready for our first look. I took the time to relax and take stock. This was really happening at last!!! Our day, the day we had planned for and dreamed of for so long. I was deliriously happy and so excited!!
Randy returned and it was time to get this show on the road. We gathered all we needed to take and the next moment (to use one of Randy's favourite sayings - Randy's brides will know what I mean) 'We're walking'

Next up:- First look

I'm loving your pictures Joanne! Randy got some great shots for you. You looked so beautiful. I have to say that I agree with your father about what some people perceive to be "flaws" actually giving character. I, personally, find beauty in imperfection. It is what makes us unique and unique is beautiful. I think you're beautiful just the way you are!

popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

I can't stop reading!!! You were so beautiful! And I LOVE your flowers! They are breathtaking!

And can I just say I love that "rat pack" picture...hehe!
