Jingle Bell Jingle BAM Show at DHS with Dessert Party Details POST 8

um I may be planning to bring a pack of full size christmas paper plates for our group and at least a disney souvenir mug that should hold 2-3 of those bad boys... to go while waiting for the fireworks to actually start. Maybe. We want to spend more time socializing and less time on the buffet line lol
They make ziploc bags in 2 gallon size now!

I think I read somewhere, where they are offering five gallon buckets, with Mickey Ears attached of course, for those wanting to extend and enhance their party experience.
Those things are too heavy when you fill them.... Uhhh don't ask how I know that

We were there last night. The only comment I have is that the viewing area was not wonderful and my twelve year old who paid adult pricing had difficulty seeing as people kept hoisting toddlers onto their shoulders without bothering to look behind them. If you plan to do so, have the couurtesy to stand at the back. Also people parked their strollers in areas where others could not stand to watch the show. We paid 200 dollars Canadian and I did feel things could have been better organized by staff at the viewing area to ask people to be more considerate.

kids on shoulders has got to be one of the top complaints for viewing shows at WDW. I don't know official policy but I don't think CM can do anything about it.
The same way you say that you spent xxx amounts of money on this the parents of the kids on shoulders can say tgey spent same amount for kids to be able to get on there. I agree with you that it's a common courtesy thing and some parents do look around before they do so or just carry the child at shoulder height, but I don't think CM can do anything about it

It's mine too. They can just hold the child on their hip and get them to the same head height. Some are considerate and do that. But I think others either see people doing it so figure they will too or its a "wouldn't this be a cool memory for my child". And I'm sure it is, but it's very inconsiderate to the guests behind them who have also been waiting to watch.

Regarding on the shoulders, I think there is a rule prohibiting this, at least based on our experience. Our youngest son has autism, and one day when he was younger, I had been carrying him for quite some time to help keep him regulated. In an attempt to give me a break from carrying, my husband thought it would be fun to put him on his shoulders - not at a show or parade, just walking around the park, so it didn't interfere with anyone's view of anything. A CM immediately approached and very politely let us know that they could not permit kids on shoulders at any time for safety reasons. I'm a rule-follower and my husband is . . . not. So a few days later in a different park, he tried it again while walking around (over my objections!) Same result - CM politely approached and let him know it's a safety issue and they can't allow it.

interesting.
I go to the parks a lot and have seen plenty of folks carrying kids on shoulders with CM walking past and none have stopped them. I have actually seen numerous times parents skipping or jumping with kids on their shoulders and nothing has been said.
The only rule that is printed and that I've seen enforced (somewhat) is running

Thanks for all of the reviews. DH and I will keep our reservation. It's in about 10 days!

What sort of "short" should we look for if we are not familiar with the main characters? Hints on where to look? We do not have young children.

Some of these reviews have really got me worried. I don't think our expectations are unrealistic just would like some drinks and a few desserts (don't care if we sit) then to be able to have a some what descent view of the show. I have a son with special needs in a wheelchair no way could we wait an hour and a half for a spot.

@yulilin3 I hope you and your daughter have the best time tonight!! You deserve it!

We have dessert party reservations for next Sunday, but still trying to decide whether or not to keep them. How far back from the stage does the reserved viewing area go? I guess what I want to know is if we don't do the dessert party, what is the closest we can get? I read that we need to be in between and in front of the two projection towers for the best view. Does the reserved area fill all of that space, or can we get in there without it? Can anyone point me to some pictures of the viewing areas with the camera facing the theater so I can see the separation and how far back it is? Everything I've seen is a side view, and I can't really get any perspective on how deep it goes.

We are still on the fence as well. For $70, a couple drinks and a good view shouldn't be too much to ask no matter when you arrive to the party. Hopefully the next reviews are more positive.

you'll be fine. Those are realistic expectations for the party and you'll have a great view

I think the view during the party will be better than the view you'd have outside of the party, unless you want to wait for an hour and a half. If someone is blocking your view with their child on their shoulders, I don't see why you wouldn't immediately say something to the person in front of you, or get a CM. Doing nothing is just going to result in frustration, and doesn't give Disney the chance to make it right. :confused3

Everyone please keep in mind that there is no 100% unobstructed spot for these projection shows at DHS. There's the rigging from the stage and the palm trees hat block some views. The dessert party offers an area in the best spot. The alternative general viewing area is directly to the right of the dessert area.
Here are pictures:
In this first one the projection tower is behind me, keep in mind this was for the SWaGS show, with the JBJB the rope goes almost all the way back to the projection tower so it's a bigger area

you can see hoow the palm trees and rigging from thee stage block some of the view. The fireworks go off over the right sside of the Chinese Theater

you don't want to be right in front of the stage cause you'll miss a lot of the side fireworks. Right by this taped walkway is the best spot

Based on your stated expectations, I think you each will have an enjoyable experience!

100% agree. If someone puts their lid up I would just politely ask to get him down or if I can stand in front of them, like I said, I don't think CM can do much with kids on shoulders.

My plan for tonight is to line up early, not because it's needed but because I'll be streaming and I want to have time to eat and drink first before I do. Then I plan to leave the party area by 8:35pm or 8:40pm to get the front row by the ropes. Leaving the party early is a choice and not necessary but I am short and I'll stream the show so I need to do it.
BTW got my plastic containers ready to bring back some goodies from the party
