Hi everyone,

I'm returning to WDW for 2 weeks in April/May and I have a large Jim Shore tradition at home. I know in the US, there are lots of items available that are not available where I come from (UK) and so I would like to pick up some unusual pieces.

Can you please tell me where sells Jim Shore? I know in MK, there is the art shop on Main Street and I also got a Belle figure from the shop next to BOG and Gaston's Tavern and I know there's the art store in DTD.... anywhere in HS, AK and EPCOT?

Many thanks!! :goodvibes

i think most places carry them. i bought Jaq and Gus in a tea cup in DTD and i bought Mickey and minnie pirates in the fall at DTD as well i think in the world of disney store. I bought a tinkerbell one at EPCOT in the art shop hear spaceship Earth.

Since I didn't know what these were, I looked them up online. Amazon has a lot of them for sale also, at a discount, or is that sacrilegious to a Disney purist?

I'm a little ticked that I bought a Dept 56 thing when there in December that I see much cheaper on Amazon also!

Check out his website HERE. I collect his Goofy figures and find more on his site and eBay than at any store in the parks. And he does ship International.

I purchase all mine from Amazon and Hallmark (hallmark periodically sends me a 30% off one item coupon).

In the parks they are quite a bit more expensive.

Also, a word of warning, the most recent Jim Shore piece I received was the Anna & Elsa one. It is really bad. Like, less than half the weight of similarly sized pieces, it feels like plastic instead of resin, and the paint job is much less detailed than previous pieces. In general, Jim Shore pieces used to look and feel like painted wood sculptures. He has stylized edges that look like they were created with a chisel. The surfaces on the Anna & Elsa piece are smooth and nearly translucent, showing how thin the plastic is that light passes through.

Initially I thought that maybe I had received a defect, or that the version given to Disney Movie Rewards members was "cheaper" than the "real" ones (I got mine for free by cashing in movie points). So I posted a review of my piece on Amazon, and within 24 hours I had several comments saying they agreed with it word for word, and that they also thought they had a defect. Ultimately, I have concluded the entire line was made this cheap based on feedback from over ten people who own the sculpt.

I have stopped collecting new Jim Shore because of it and have instead moved over to Enesco.

A few years ago in Disneyland I was told they produce two lines for each Jim Shore product - one 'wood' and one cheaper version. Apparently the former are for in-park sale. Don't know if that's true, but that's what a CM told us.

I really wanted that piece too but I didn't have enough points…not I guess I'm glad. I would have been really disappointed too. But I have some really nice pieces that I love and are good quality. I got a few at Hallmark and a few at WDW.

I think the CM was confused. Jim Shore sculpts the original in wood, and then all versions sold are resin casts of the original. I have been collecting for some time and have never seen alternate versions of the same piece on eBay. Maybe the original wood sculpt was made available fr sale in the parks, but I would bet money that the wood sculpt was never cloned.

Every single Shore piece that I own prior to 2012 is very heavy. None of them are wood. 2012-2013 pieces got lighter and the paint jobs began to look a little more mass produced. The 2014 piece I won doesn't deserve to be in the same line.

So far I have yet to see anything beyond the 2 frozen sculpts (both of which were created very cheaply). I'll be interested to see if this was due to rushing out Frozen merch or a general trend in all future Jim Shore products.
