Jiko question

We want to eat dinner at Jiko one evening. Partly, because I've heard rave reviews about the food. Partly, because we want to see AKL and see the animals. We are going in September. I'm worried if we eat too late it will be too dark to go look at the animals. What is a good time, not to early and not too late to make a AR at Jiko's?

Animals are visible all the time at AKL - even if it's dark, you'd still be able to see them. The savannah's are lit with artificial moonlight so it's never really pitch dark. I'd try to make a PS for around sunset and see the animals first, then eat.

Agree with SJW, the lodge is well lit even when dark so you'll still be able to see the animals. Additionally, it still stays light pretty late down here in September, so you should be fine.

Thanks for the tips. I'm thinking for ressies about 7pm which would not be too late or too early. It's good to know that even if we are late we can go see the animals after dinner.

The two times i was at AKL, one time was earlier , daylight, and we didn't see much at all. The next time we went to Jiko for an 8PM PS, when we got done we walked out the back to the end and there was, i'll say park ranger type CM, who has a night vision scope they will let you use. We saw more animals in the pitch black than we did in daylight. This was in April when it was very crowded, and there were only two other couples there. I only knew about it from reading this board. Jiko was great BTW.

We always eat at Jiko between 7 & 8. We get there early and go and watch the animals. Jiko is our favorite place to eat at WDW, there pork tenderloin is out of this world.

Ditto about the pork tenderloin! My DH has it this past weekend and WOW is it good!

As DaveT1 said they have night vision goggles for you to look threw. It is very cool to see them this way.
