Good morning all!

Everyone is so helpful on the DIS, I thought someone might have some ideas.

Can anyone recommend a hotel nearby JFK airport? Or warn me about hotels not to stay in? DH & I just need a close hotel to stay overnight in to catch our early flight to London the next morning. I know NYC is expensive, but I really don't want to pay $400 for barely a one night stay! So "budget" friendly would be great.

Thanks all!

Budget friendly and NY aren't words that usually go together.
I've stayed at the Hampton Inn a few times on layovers. It's nothing great, but it's adequate. Shuttle service is good. There's a Marriott and Hilton next door. Not a great area I don't venture outside the hotel.

OP I hope you are able to find something that works for you. We have the same situation, early am flight to London for the cruise before yours.
Even a Fairfield Inn was close to $300 + tax which negates the savings of flying out of JFK for us. (We're in South Jersey so EWR provided enough savings vs PHL without needing a hotel the night before.) Have a great cruise!

You can expand your search out further as far as Flushing NY anything in that area will be a 20 minute Uber or less --places like Kew Gardens will be around 10... Just stick with a name and you will be fine... none of the Hotels are in nice areas but none of the areas are considered Dangerous either... if you want something in a nice area (including NYC) you will Pay $$$$ real estate is just expensive period...but finding something for under 150 a night all in should not be an issue.... Even Hotels near LGA airport are fine as JFK is about 5 miles away

Thank you! We usually fly out of Buffalo or Rochester, but the savings from flying into JFK the night before was crazy. Even if we pay around $300 for a hotel, it's still a savings. I think we'll end up going with a Holiday Inn that's nearby and has pretty good reviews. It's coming in at around $200, so kind of expensive for a Holiday Inn, but not horrible. I prefer Hampton's, but they are $100+ more. And like I said, it's less than a 24 hour stay so we'll make it work fine.

Thank you for letting me know this! I have no idea how close/far things are to the airport and what to expect in terms of traffic. I was looking for an airport shuttle due to how early we'll need to be at JFK, but I know there are Ubers around at all times of the day/night.

If you do get a better rate at Hampton the shuttle service is excellent. It runs every 30 minutes and takes about 10 minutes fo get to airport. The Hilton next door has a bar and restaurant but they jack up the prices because they know you have no other option.
I don’t know about holiday Inn but I have stayed at airport hotels where you need reservation for shuttle. It’s something I always ask when checking in. I only know all this because I’ve been stranded at jfk three times. I don’t have the best luck connecting through there.
