OK I apologise if this sounds a dumb question -or a shallow question!:goodvibes but what sort of jewellry does the store on main street sell-is it all kiddie jewellery or do they sell nice stuff too-I'm sort of thinking maybe a very nice, very special sort of ring if you get my drift. ;) DBf is under strict instructions that if he ever proposes it has got to be a very special romantic proposal (Previous hubby's proposal was "Here you look miserable, maybe this'll cheer you up") As we are going to DL for a day next year I'm kind of hoping he decides to do it there, so I was wondering if they do nice rings in the shop on Main Street-real gold or silver as opposed to the stuff that sends your finger black:rotfl2:

I know I probably come across as really shallow, but I don't want a diamond ring costing thousands, I want something that reflects me and how I feel about him.

BTW I don't want anything with a Princess head on it:rotfl:

I have never seen any engagement rings in Disneyland! And since you WILL be in Disneyland and/or California Adventure, if you fnd any nice jewelry for adults, it will likely be Disney-themed in some way! That doesn't mean it will have a big princess head on it, but it will likely have a Disney theme. DLR has changed some of their shops over the years. You used to be able to get kids' stuff (and that title is subjective, open to interpretation, because some people consider anything within the confines of Disneyland to be kids' stuff) and some nicer adult pieces in a couple of places in Disneyland and one of the hotels. I don't mean engagement rings, but just nicer adult Disney jewelry. Now, those places are few and far between, but not unheard of. You can check the new Fortuosity Shop on Main Street (used to be New Century Timepieces). Also check with Guest Services and ask where you can find nicer adult pieces - BUT, they WILL be Disney, so be prepared. You also have the shops in Downtown Disney to choose from - which are not owned by Disney - so maybe you will have more luck there. But I don't think you will find anything along the lines of an engagement ring on DLR property - especially one that is non-Disney!

Thanks Sherry-I don't have a problem with anything Disney-for example a nice fat diamond with 2 smaller diamonds would look lovely:rolleyes1
Seriously I just don't want one of those kiddy rings with the painted head on it. It could be a moo point (As Joey would say) because he might not ask me!

There is a nice vintage jewelry shop in New Orleans Square. (And they are not Disney themed.)

Main Street will not have what you are looking for.

(But, if he comes to DLR with the intention of proposing - wouldn't he already have a ring for you? Or is my thinking old fashioned?)

Ahhh yes, a ring with diamonds forming a Mickey head - that would be nice! I don't blame you for not wanting the big painted heads. That might be cute for a joke, but for a real ring you have to have something nicer. Although I agree with Califgirl - maybe he will already have a ring for you? You could always call Disneyland DelivEars ahead of time and ask them if there are any shops which sell nicer Disney jewelry or jewelry in general, and then just make sure to walk your boyfriend past that shop several times - 'accidentally.';)

I'm pretty sure he won't do that because Number 1 did that in the unromantic way detailed above, so he's always been determined not to make any of his predecessors mistakes:love: Plus like most men he wouldn't have the foggiest idea how to go about getting my ring size without severing the finger:lmao:

By the way is there a reason the board keeps bleeping out the abbreviation I use for "because" (Three letters, starting with C and ending in s with an o in the middle?) is it a rude word in American?

Maybe because it is a derogatory word in Persian?

Nothing that I know of off hand.:confused3 You mean you are being edited after you post that word? Hmmm...maybe someone else will have the answer to that. I have no clue why that would be bad unless it is an abbreviation/acronym for something else on the DISboards abbreviations list that I am unaware of. ???

Well, if all else fails maybe he will buy you a cute little cheapy ring and then together you can make the real purchase someplace outside the parks. :) I think that would be sweet.

There is a GREAT shop in NOS but it's very very $$$$$ my BFF and her DBF went in there and they turned right back around and left. LOL I won't even venture to go in, I know it's too rich for my blood! LOL

Can I say although not Disney themed, I love and adore the jewelry store in New Orleans Square!!! Not only are they super nice and let you "play" wiith the jewelry, it is also really cool they are there because it is one of the last really "Disney" things you see in the park.

Back on openning day you could buy all sorts of Sundries and things on Main Street. Even girdles and bras! The Jewelry store is a bit like those days, before Mickey on anything and everything and the same stuff in every shop!

I actually bought a ring there over 4 years ago, my DH didn't quite now how the rules went and bought my engagement ring to match that ring. I have wore them as a set ever since. :cutie:

Actually the big stuff of course is expensive because they have a lot of Maseretti style pieces. They love near perfect vintage rocks! But they also have smaller pieces (not 3 ct.!) and semi-precious stone pieces that are reasonably priced. It's not mall jewelry store prices, but neither is the quality.

BTW my band with six small diamonds, hand engraving from the late 20's was about $500 I think.

Thanks everyone for the advice-:grouphug: now remember , don't say a word to DBf;)

Ha - there is a Knox Jewellers add at the bottom of this page :lmao:
