JetBlue's New Carry-on Allowance!!!

last week my 26 inch bag which is 8 lbs empty weighed 56 lbs (I am allowed 70 lbs per bag). No way could I lift that into a bin, and no way it would fit into the bin. My 22 inch is a tight squeeze.

Removing rows increases seat pitch, it does not make the bins any larger.

My understanding is that you are only allowed 50 lbs, which is the new weight limit for JETBLUE. Am I wrong?

Does that include the guys who seem to assume that I can't lift my bag and get up and do it anyway?

No, I'm talking about the passengers who attempt to put their bag up in the bin and they can't even get it lifted above the seat, let alone above their head and into the bin. On our last flight I saw a lady carrrying on a duffel bag that was definitely oversized and it was nearly as long as she was tall, she was clearly struggling trying to lift it, in the meantime holding up everyone behind her until someone finally stood up and helped her. And every time I've seen a fellow passenger help someone lift a bag, the person clearly needed help.

EXACTLY! One 26 inch suitcase will take up the majority of a bin (if you're strong enough to haul it up there to begin with) which will result in LESS space for passengers...

My large suitcase is also 26 inches. I wouldn't dream of carrying it onbooard. Even DF restricts himself to 22 and he has reserved space! My guess is that smaller carry-on requirements will precede second bag restrictions... something about heading people off at the pass!

Right - but she specifically pointed out that there are six fewer possible passengers, so more room in the overhead bins.

I pity the poor gentlemen who are going to feel obligated to help lift those 26" bags up into the storage bins. One of my major pet peeves is people who carry on luggage they know they can't lift but carry it on anyway rather than checking it and I'm sure those same people won't think twice about carrying on a 26" bag.
AMEN!

I consider myself a pretty courteous gentleman, but one thing I refuse to do is help someone with a carry-on bag aboard the plane (I will help them get on or off a bus for example, that's different). If the bag is too big and/or heavy for them to handle, they should have checked it.

Could it also be that they are hoping that the passengers in the first , what , 11 rows with more room now will place their bags under the seat in front of them . I have no idea if they would fit but if they are making more room then maybe they think we'll use it for carry-on's .

There is no way a 26" bag will fit under an airline seat. It won't fit in most overhead baggage compartments either.
