Jesus wasn't resurrected

I find it so strange that anyone takes the time to try to find evidence to discredit the beliefs of others, whether it be Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddism...

I guess I just don't feel a need to put effort into something like that.

I find it a bit pointless.. You can't really discredit *faith*..I mean by definition faith is not based on fact. If it is then it's not faith, really

It's probably the same motivation that leads people of faith to attempt to convert others to their way of thinking. People who aren't religious try to convince the people that are religious that they are wrong and the people who are religious try to convince the people that aren't religious that they are wrong. It would be so much easier if we all left each other alone and allowed each other to follow a faith, not follow a faith or follow whatever path we've chosen.

i agree!

I honestly do not see what the big deal is, it is just entertinment, presenting another hollywood theory. I am not religious but I do understand that if someone does have a faith, it is not going to be changed by another whackjob like Mel Gibson or Tom Cruise.

I also know that the resurection is of extreme importance to Christians, if that didn't happen their would be no need for the religion.

And some one mentioned that Muslims believe in Jesus as the son of God, I don't believe that is true. They believe in him as a great man and prophet but not the messiah. They do not have a messiah, if I am wrong please correct me, but I have gotten excellent grades in my world religions class, so that makes me an expert, right?

I totally agree. It's amazing, this race to be 'right'.

Muslims believe he is the messiah, they just do not believe he is divine..Nor do they believe he was crucified..I think they believe he escaped

Here is a pretty good article about Islam and Jesus

but.....he wasn't God incarnate. he was the son of God. he wasn't God, walking the earth.

He was/is both.

John 18

30 I and the Father are one."

Matthew 1:23

23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"—which means, "God with us."

I think the confusion comes from their use of the word messiah- but in the Koran it does state that he is not the actual son of God just a messanger. They do however, use the term messiah, which is bound to throw someone off.

From the article you cited-

[edit] As God or the begotten Son of God
Muslims do not believe 'Isa (Jesus) is God (in Arabic: Allah), nor was he the "begotten" Son of God but rather only a man. The mainstream Christian belief, however, is that Jesus is the begotten, divine Son of God.

Muslims believe that Jesus was a righteous Prophet and that he had a special relationship with God. The Qur'an rejects the use of the word "begotten" when used to describe this special relationship Jesus had with God. "Begetting" is by definition is having an offspring with characteristics of the parent. Muslims view such an act as undignifying to the majesty of God and an act of polytheism. They also believe that God is the Judge, that He does not die, thus no son is needed to carry out his work as He will not grow old nor die.[6]
. . .

The Qur'an states:

“ O followers of the Book! do not exceed the limits in your religion, and do not speak (lies) against Allah, but (speak) the truth; the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary is only a messenger of Allah and His Word which He communicated to Mary and a spirit from Him; believe therefore in Allah and His messengers, and say not, Three. Desist, it is better for you; Allah is only one Allah; far be It from His glory that He should have a son, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His, and Allah is sufficient for a Protector.

He was/is both.

King James version, am i right?? :rolleyes1

Well all three abrahamic versions have a very different meaning for Messiah..For Christians a Messiah is a savior, for Jews he is not. For Muslims he is also different.

Cameron is the executive producer documenting the work the team of scientists and archaeologists. he's not challenging anyone's beliefs.

the team researching the tomb believe they have 600-1 odds they have found the final resting spot of Jesus and his family, nothing more.

New Cameron blockbuster? He found Jesus!

Producer James Cameron is ready to rock the foundation of Christianity, according to Time.com.

In a new documentary, the director of the blockbuster movie "Titanic" claims Jesus wasn't resurrected, that his burial cave was discovered in a suburb of Jerusalem.

Cameron is scheduled to hold a news conference Monday in New York to promote the 90-minute film to air on the Discovery Channel.

The producer, along with director Simcha Jacobovici, claims to have DNA and archaeological evidence that the caskets -- 10 total -- belonged to Jesus and his family, Time.com said in its Middle East blog.

The 2,000-year-old cave the caskets were in was found during construction of an industrial park 27 years ago, the Web site reported.

But Bar-Ilan University Professor Amos Kloner, a Jerusalem archeologist who officially oversaw the work at the tomb in 1980 and has published detailed findings on its contents, dismissed the claims.

"It makes a great story for a TV film," he told The Jerusalem Post Saturday night.

"But it's impossible. It's nonsense," he said.
If Cameron was able to get Tom Robbins ("Another Roadside Attraction") to help with the story it should be a good one.

Didn't read anything but the title of the thread and my thought is,

BULL CRAP (didn't think crap but it's DIS appropriate.) Yall can argue and debate all day long. The simple truth is He was hung on the cross and resurrected 3 days later. End of story!

...all this debate makes me wonder what everyone thinks about Lazarus. Jesus wasn't the only one in the Bible to be resurrected from the dead. and didn't Jesus also bring someone else back from the dead, as well? i can't be sure, but i thought i read it somewhere. so there HAVE been other cases. wether or not they're true is beyond me. i'm just gonna wait until i finally meet Jesus to ask him. :thumbsup2

No. It's NIV.

Here's the KJV of both verses.

30 I and My Father are one.”

23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

Jesus brought back Lazarus & a little girl.

Well,Just for the heck of it here is the Jewish Tanakh

14 Therefore the L-rd Himself shall give you a sign: behold, the young woman shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel

No mention of a virgin in the Jewish text

No. It's NIV.

oh ok good i knew it was someone besides Lazarus. thanks for that.

you know what's funny? the Bible is the only religious book, out of every religion, that has been changed over and over again. i hate that. because you really don't know anymore what's "truth" and what is "man-made" from that book. that's why, like i said, when i meet Jesus, i'm gonna ask him myself.
