Okay this is my intervention for myself...I was doing really well losing weight (again) and now I'm gaining it back (again). The reasons are obvious - eating more and exercising less. This time I am NOT going to gain that weight back, I am going to turn it around and lose it all for the last time!

My goals:

*eat healthy at each meal (needs some work on "healthy")
*eat a small snack (50 - 100 calories) between meals
*exercise 6 days/week for 30 minutes
* lose 20 pounds by April 2nd (spring break Disney trip!)
* lose 25 more pounds by July 15th (Scotland trip, will make plane ride much more comfortable!)
* lose 10 pounds by September 20th (dh's birthday)

I think that posting every day will help me a lot. I know the challenges I've participated in helped me keep my awareness up and I think this will do the same.

Wish me luck! :teeth:

Just wanted to wish you good luck! I just started journaling also to help keep up the motivation. :wave2:

Thanks twotoohappy and dopey4disney! :goodvibes

Today is starting out great, I've lost 3 1/2 pounds over the last few days and that's VERY motivational! I'm also feeling better, I think this cold's starting to move on - yeah! :cheer2:

I had a lean pocket for breakfast with my every faithful diet coke. :teeth: I'm going to have some water next. Today my goal is to get on the treadmill...I think I'm up for it.

How did you do with the treadmill? I just kicked the diet soda habit. I'll have one maybe twice a week. I'm trying to limit caffeine because I read somewhere that it helps retain belly fat. Uggh. It's a bear trying to kick it. My coworkers were not happy with me for about two weeks!
Keep up the good work!

I did it - I got on the treadmill! :cheer2: I watched my new addiction the OC, watching season 1...that makes the time go much quicker. :teeth: I also realized another benefit to working out...I did it just before dinner and wanted to make something healthy after that.

Bad news about the caffeine - could that be an urban myth about the belly fat (she asks hopefully)? Now I'll have to google that...

Hi, jen. Just thought I would check in and say congratulations on those 3.5lbs. How exciting is that? Keep up the good work!

Thanks! :goodvibes Yes it is a great feeling and great motivation.

Today is not a good day for me, I think my cold is trying to visit again...I just want to lay in bed! I haven't done any treamill-ing but have stayed moving around. My theory is that when you don't feel well it burns even more calories doing your everyday stuff. Still going to try to get on that thing even if it's only for 15 minutes...that's still something!

Eating has been under control today and I won a battle - DD has a friend over, a loud friend! - and I reached for the chips and had some in my mouth before I realized it. Then I stopped and put them away. Eating to get rid of the noise isn't going to work so I talked to them instead. Wow!! :rotfl:

WTG on putting down the chips Jennifer!!! :cool1: Keep up the great work!!

Hope you are feeling better soon. :sunny:

Congrats on the weightloss!! :cheer2: You're off to a great start! What kind of a treadmill do you have? When I was in physical therapy the treadmill they had was much easier on my knees, heels & joints than the road. I'd love to get one someday but have no idea which kind to get. Get feeling better!

I have the pro-form 740cs treadmill and I love it! It started out as my mom's but she didn't use so we hauled it to Indiana from Orlando last summer - it's great! It's got the inclines and a few programs, not too fancy but like you said it's much better on my legs than outside.

Yesterday was not a good day for me, I gave up. I need to change my thinking - one meal off-plan does not give me an excuse to eat only unhealthy things all day! Good start today, I had a healthy breakfast. :teeth: Off to the Children's Museum w/DD after I exercise. That will be a challenge for lunch, last time we were there there were no salads or healthy choices to be seen! I might eat before we go and just get a soda (we're going with friends who want to eat lunch there).

Happy New Year everyone!!

Just start each day clean and fresh :goodvibes
If you mess up one day, just start new the next day. It's easier said than done. I can't have the chips and stuff in the house or I'll end up snacking on them. My dd doesn't even miss having them in the house anymore.
Don't you love the treadmill!!! I've been running outside for the last couple of days and it's just not me. Somehow on my runs outside it seems to be uphill both ways. I can't wait to go back to the nice heated gym tomorrow

Have a great day!
~Liz

Jennz, thanks for the treadmill information. I'm so afraid I'll buy one and it'll quit working after a few months. I've seen the ProForm treadmills at Sears. They look really nice, but I didn't try them out in the store. The main thing for me is that I want something easy on my heels.

Don't give up, Jennz. Just take one day at a time. You can do this!

Liz - you're right, I have problems if I have chips in the house too. I rarely buy my favorites because then I snack on them all day. Same with making chocolate chip cookies. I do make those every other month or so for DD though. And yes I love the treadmill! :teeth:

Jane - My mom got this treadmill from Sears too. I'm pretty sure there's either a warranty that comes with it or she purchased one because she had the same concern, that it would break after a few months. This thing is about 3 or 4 years old and has been hauled in the back of a van from Orlando to Indianapolis and we haven't had any problems. I would definitely recommend it!

I made it through lunch yesterday, I got a curry chicken wrap. I'm sure there was mayo on it but it didn't seem too bad. It had to be better than pizza or a Mc-something (that McD's doesn't offer salads :( ). Today - good start! I'm on to my water now. I'm not feeling too good again and hope that it's due to the weather - dreary and rainy - and as I walk around smiling I'll feel better. :teeth:

You're off to a great start. That chicken curry wrap sounds delicious. Get feeling better!

Thanks Jane!

I'm getting ready to get on the treadmill and of course stopped to read some DISboard...now I'm wondering about the Body for Life program. It sounds kind of interesting but I'm thinking I don't really want yet another diet book and something that sounds great but doesn't last. Is this something that's fairly easily incorporated into your life? Maybe I'll just stick to what I'm doing now and give it some weeks and see how it goes. I'm dedicated to 30 minutes on the treadmill (or outside) daily and weights (actually Bowflex) 3 times/week. I am also watching calories and staying around 1200. If I go above that I think I'll need to exercise more...

Gloomy day here in Indy again. On the bright side only 90 days to Disney!

Got on the treadmill and what do you know I actually felt better after! I wasn't even sure I'd have the energy to do it! Today's a bowflex day so I have that to look forward to as well as 30 minutes on the treadmill...I can do this!

I'm wondering if I need some type of visual to keep me motivated...does anyone do that? Something on my calendar or something. I realized I have two 6-week blocks til our vacation, two six week goals to accomplish.

This morning - 1/2 a whole wheat bagel and egg beaters w/a cup of the light oj. Time to start on my water. Lunch will be a turkey salad. I need to figure out snacks and dinner still.

Well my oj for breakfast is gone - I forgot I can't eat citrus or take vitamin C w/in 2 hours of taking my meds. Maybe I'll have it for a snack if I'm not very hungry at snack time.

Yesterday was great eating wise, definitely stayed within my calories and ended up at 1330 for the day, within my 1200 - 1500 range I want to be in. I did not exercise though, I had a project to finish that had to be done yesterday and I put it off...I did get the project done though! :)

I watched the last half of the BL last night - I just love that show. Didn't they look great?!

Today my goal is to get that workout in! Also I'm going to eat "light" all day - DD and I are going to see Beauty and the Beast tonight with friends and we're going out to dinner first. I'll probably get a salad but am a little hesitant because of the dressings, if I'm going to get 10 - 15 grams of fat in salad dressing (can't stand salad without it!) I'd rather get grilled chicken or something.

It's another gloomy day...I need some sunshine!!

:sunny: Good morning Jennifer! :sunny:

Great job staying within your calories. I haven't watched the last 30 minutes of BL yet, I will have to finish watching it tonight.

Where are you going to see B&B? I saw it last month with my sister and niece, it was wonderful. Have fun!!

Now...go get on that treadmill!!!

Hi! Congratulations for staying within your calories! I know that's not always easy.

I watched BL last night also, but I'm not sure I enjoyed it as much as I do the regular BL. I did not have time to get attached to the players. I'll still watch it though!

Good luck with your eating out. That is certainly the hardest part of eating right.

Have a great day!
