jehovah witness

I guess your right, If you dont believe in God. You wouldnt understand. Do you have any explanations on Who created you?
My mommy and daddy created me in the back of a volkswagen van.:cutie:

Yep... that must be it

I don't spend my life worrying about WHO created me... I worry about making a good life for myself and my child (who's life I put before anyone else's beliefs) I worry about being a good person and making my mark on the physical world that I can see.. I couldn't give a rats behind if I end up worm food in the ground so long as I am satisfied with the life I lead here on earth, where it counts :thumbsup2

Blind faith may get you though your day, may even make you feel better god forbid your child ever were to need a medical intervention that your so called GOD disallowed... if you can live with that, then I am sure the mighty man will open the pearly gates for you :thumbsup2
:thumbsup2 True dat!

In all serious, if I create a sign that says "No Jehovah's Witnesses" that will work? Really? They won't even ring the bell?

I know "No soliciting" doesn't work.

If you're completely serious, I think I may have just found a sure fire way to make my millions selling "No Jehovah's Witnesses" signs on EBAY ... and hey, fellow DISers, no taking my idea! :)
:rotfl2:

:teacher:

My Mom saise a stork bought me.

My DD was created from a good bottle of wine. ;)

We had a sign made for just inside the sidelight of our front door, it says 'NO soliciting, NO exceptions' If someone knocks anyway, I quickly point to it and indicate we are done!

I won't knock on your door preaching my faith and DO NOT attempt to solicit yours at mine!

My FIL invites them in for a Beer and that usually sends them packing!;)

All in all. Jehovahs witnessess do what they do because the bible tells them to do or not do something. So no matter what you do or say, they or we, are not gonna do what you say instead. Gods word over mans. Believe me Our kids are not depriving for anything. They are more loved and more safer than anyone elses kids. They are happy. Just ask them, they can explain to you how they feel, they are also smart. About the blood transfusions. There are many hospitals now that are into bloodless everything and they are not owned by Jehovahs witnesses. They see that it is healther to do things the clean way. We have many articles and vidios about Drs explaining how much healther it is. Usually those that say their relative needed blood cause they were so bad off, so they gave it to them. They died in the long run. So it doesnt save lives. If your a nerse, read up on that, you will be surprised what you find. But even if the Drs didnt say that. We believe the bible when God tells us not to do something. We listen. Its our lives at stake.

Guess my kids are unloved, in danger, unhappy and dumb. Gotcha! You just confirmed what I already knew about people involved with extreme religion.

Do you suppose the OP had any idea where this would go?

popcorn::

:lmao: I dont think the OP had any idea!:lmao:

I am curious about a bloodless hospital. Is there a sign on the door that says if your bleeding go elsewhere?:confused3
Wondering if someone with held blood from someone dying that could be saved... isnt that a wee bit like murder? I know that is a harsh word... but isnt it? Sure some people die in the long run anyway. I had to have a transfusion right after I was born. Thank god my parents were catholic.

If you really think about it, that could apply to all religions. Every culture and religion tells you what to believe and not believing what you're told is not acceptable. Some are more forceful than others, but they all do it.

ITA and this is why I'm not religious.

I was in a car wreck and needed blood. Thank the Good Lord, my parents are baptist.

The JW used to come to my house often. I tried and tried to politely tell them I wasn't interested. (I'm an atheist, and even if I were going to go religious, I would not be choosing JW.) I was a SAHM with two young boys so we were often outside on nice days. That's when they would get me. I wouldn't answer the door if we were inside, but when we were outside and I didn't see them coming I was trapped. I wasn't ever rude, and so they wouldn't ever leave. I thought I was making it clear that I didn't care to listen to them, without being rude, but apparently not. I dreaded them. Then one day I decided to take the watchtower they'd left with me (the most recent one, all the previous ones were beelined straight to the trash can), attach a note, and tape it to my door. I told them, politely, that I was sorry for wasting their time but I really wasn't interested, and to not come to my home any more. It's been over ten years and they stayed away all that time, until this year. They've come once this year and I didn't answer the door. I hope I'm not back on the list. :headache:

I do have a question though, sure hope I'm not sorry I asked, LOL... do JW use a different version of the bible than others -- or are they just using the Old Testament and not the New? :confused3

When they were at my house he was reading scripture on Noah.

I also have a question about the old testament.
When did incest become wrong?

JW's use and believe their own version of the bible, published by the Watchtower Society, as well as the King James Version, and other versions of the bible.

It's very complicated, as they use parts of the bible to promote their beliefs, but they deny the Trinity, salvation by grace, and Jesus' physical resurrection - basic beliefs held true by Christians!

I am surprised that one is here arguing the faith - typically their MO is kindness, which is why their teachings are so dangerous to someone who is not strong in their beliefs. On the outside, they seem normal, even nicer than many people, and they use the bible to show why they believe what they do.

that is pretty much all the proof I need!

I don't think this thread was meant to turn into an argument about their faith, etc. I don't think anyone here means any disrespect.

I respect anyone's faith no matter what religion they are. Just don't make it sound like I am depriving my kid, that your kid is more loved and safer than mine.

I don't mind when someone wants to talk to me about religion. I just don't appreciate when they come to my door. I really don't want to see two strange men at my door, ringing the doorbell and banging like a lunatic. KWIM?

Unless they're selling Thin Mints and Samoas. :)

Regarding whether it is okay to subject a child to your beliefs, don't we all? Even atheists voice their opinions and beliefs to their children, thus "forcing" their view on them. It is a natural condition of parenting. You may try hard to present all sides of things in an age-appropriate way, but your own opinions are still well known by your children.

Actually most atheists that I know didn't raise their kids to be atheist, they educated them and left it open for the kid to learn and decide what religion or no religion they wanted in their life. Yes they knew about their parent's non beliefs, but they were also taught to find out as much as you can about all religions and make a decision for yourself. I know hardly any christians who have let their kids do this. Not to say that none do, but just that it is not normally the way it is, which is sad.

Well, you might have a point there. All of the self proclaimed atheists I have ever known personally have been very derisive about religion and have taught their children to be the same way by example. But I'm certainly no authority. I was only commenting on things as I see them in action personally.

Edited to add; it seems to me that an agnostic would be more likely to encourage their children to come to their own conclusions than an atheist, but again, I'm no authority on that.

In my 12 years of catholic school, I have never heard that the body goes with the soul.... so therefore blood transfusions should make no difference :confused3

That's because you were in Catholic school. Where you learn Catholic teachings. Which doesn't at apply to JW, because they aren't Catholic.

Choco_latae, if you think that your kids are safer than anyone else's I suggest that you check out silentlambs.org.:sad2:

You know , these people arnt out to hurt you. They believe that they have a lifegiving thing and they want to share it with everyone. So they think they are saving your life, be grateful that they think enough of you . You will find all diffrent kinds of personalities in them just as well as anyone else. So you find some that is pushy and some that is shy, all diffrent kinds. They arnt all programed to be pushy. There is a simple thing to do if you dont want them to come to your door, and they wont. Put a note out that saise , " No JW's". That is simple enough.

Well a JW church is two doors down and all my neighbors have no soliciting signs, our house came with one, LOL! The problem is the nighbor hood JW don;t think they are soliciting!

So the bible says Christ died that all my be saved not just the 144K :confused3 But a jw decided to one up god and number the peeps going to heven, how many JW in the world are there? Do you get a membership number? What if you are member 144,001?

I am a Christian nurse who has seen plenty off people saved by blood or plasma. I myself needed to have one after I almost died during childbirth , I have to respectfully disagree with you on that.

I guess there is no sense in saying anything to defend ourselves cause everyone takes it out of context anyways. I didnt say that your familys was bad or anything. You were saying that our children was deprived and I was telling you that they arnt. They are loved, happy ect..........

About the blood thing. I could go on and tell you that my grandpa died cause he took blood. He did. But I dont blame everyone for that. I was just telling you that we do not take blood because of what the bible tells us to do, not take blood and we listen to him before we listen to others. I think he matters most.

Do you mind pointing me to the scripture that JW base their not having Blood transfusions? seriously I would like to know.

I do think the Bible tells us to take blood BTW, the blood of Jesus. But you guys don't believe him as the Son of GOD.

Thats all well and good... but that doesn't stop me from feeling like pushing that belief on your child in a life or death situation is plain out child abuse and you won't convince me otherwise so don't bother trying or quoting the bible to me because I am a realist and a non believer anyway so it's pointless....

It is not child abuse. I just recently read an article that was talking about blood transfusions and how it is dangerous. They can't guarantee that they get all the impurities out. There are ways to do bloodless surgery where some doctors want to do transfusions. My sister is a nurse at a hospital that is very progressive with bloodless surgery and they have seminars where people from all over the world have attended to hear about bloodless surgery. The doctors there say it is safer and better for your body than blood transfusions.

My grandmother has had numerous blood transfusions due to internal bleeding and she continues to have problems.
