jehovah witness

The poster can correct me if I'm wrong, but I took the "build relationships first" to mean that it is not recommended to talk to a complete stranger. Instead, you share the news with those you have already naturally developed some sort of relationship with, once you know that person and are comfortable addressing the issue (if you ever are). Sharing the news with a friend is very different than knocking on the door. The way I interpreted it is that they are not building relationships to spread the news, hey simply avoid proselytizing strangers. Is this what you meant?

Yes, you are correct.

Will this do?

*I'm not JW, but I am Christian. I've participated in door to door witnessing & found it to be a less than ideal way to spread the Good News. Our church (Southern Baptist) primarily emphasizes developing relationships with family, friends, co-workers before broaching the subject. However, we should always be open to the Holy Spirit's leading us to say a word to someone we meet.

He's not going to "avoid proselytizing strangers". He said the Holy Spirit leads the way for him to spread the word to strangers. He also said his church emphasizes developing "relationships" with others before broaching the subject.
To me, if a "friend" was developing a relationship with me just so they can try to convert me, then they are not really my friend. A true friend accepts you for who you are, flaws and all.

Eeyores Butterfly was right about what I meant. It's my fault for not being clear about what I meant regarding friends.

In the example I mentioned about a new neighbor, he brought up the subject of church. I used that as an opening to share my faith. Again, I was not clear.

Chipmunk, you took my words & twisted them. You are implying that I am disingenuous, establishing "fake" relationships for the purpose of cramming my religion down someone else's throat. Since you don't know me personally, you have no idea what my intentions are.

I didn't twist your words. Next time you should be clearer on what you mean.

You are still too kind. I'm glad I live in a gated community where that sort of thing shouldn't happen, but if it did they would get the door in their face really quick. One of the reasons the world is at war, and has been for centuries, is people trying to push their religious beliefs on others.

QFT :thumbsup2

You OPENED THE DOOR????

My sister and her husband have been JWs for almost 40 years. I don't even listen to THEM! :scared:

A friend of mine's mother is one and she (the friend) had to rush to find a new babysitter for her son on those meeting nights as she didn't want the woman spewing that stuff to her child.

NO, don't shut the door on them. Tell them something lik eyou are looking foward to the end of the world so that your master Satan can take over. That will shut them up :thumbsup2

:lmao:
For added emphasis, blare some Marilyn Manson... That'll freak them out!
