jehovah witness

Heh, one of my DHs favorite lines from Blue Collar Comedy:

She said, "What will you do when these little boys come over?" I said, "I'll tell you what I'm going to do. I'm gonna pull the young man in tight next to me so only he and I can hear the conversation. I'm gonna whisper in his ear. I'm gonna say, "Boy, look at me. You see that little girl there? That's my only little girl. She's my life. So if you have any thought about hugging or kissing, you remember these words: I got no problem going back to prison."

:rotfl2:

You know one day dh was backing out the car and literally almost ran over a JW that was walking across our driveway to ring our doorbell. Thankfully he didn't (thank goodness for our sensor that beeps if something is behind you) but maybe if he had, that would have at least kept them out of our neighborhood for a few weeks. We get them constantly, at least once a week. I don't answer the door. More than once, I have been sitting in my living room in front of my bay window where they can see me and I just keep right on doing what I am doing. They ring several times and finally they give up and leave.

In some ways I feel sorry for them, they are about the most dreaded people that can enter a neighborhood and when they do, you can watch as everyone starts scurrying into their homes. But they bring it on themselves.

For the record Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe in Hell and we go to people's homes because that's what Jesus and his Apostles did and it's what we're commanded to do from the Bible. And like the Apostles we also preach in public places. Shopping malls, buses, train stations.

Paul in Acts 20:20 "How I did not shrink from telling you anything that was for your benefit and teaching you in public meetings and from house to house,"

Jesus in Matthew 28:19 "Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit."

We are also commanded not to eat blood.

Genesis 9:4 "But life is in the blood, and you must not eat any meat that still has blood in it."

Leviticus 17:10-12 "If any Israelite or foreigner living among them eats blood, I will disown that person and cut him off from his people, for the life of an animal is in the blood. I have provided the blood for you to make atonement for your lives on the Altar; it is the blood, the life, that makes atonement. That's why I tell the People of Israel, 'Don't eat blood.' The same goes for the foreigner who lives among you, 'Don't eat blood.'

You might think that eating blood and getting a blood transfusion is different but it's still being put into your body. In most Bible translations Acts 15:29 says to abstain from blood. We're supposed to avoid it whether it's intravenously or ingesting it.
that's all well and good Jesus told you to go preaching but please...have respect for others and don't go door to door....and not at malls....do it at church. If people want to know about it they will come.

tell them your a born again christian, that scares away most door to door religions.

As a teacher I feel really bad for the JW kids:scared: . They do NOT say the Pledge to the flag each morning, no birthday parties, Valentines, Christmas, Easter, Veterans Day....all these things we celebrate in school, let alone the blood thing! I think they have all been brain washed!:scared1:

And that's why you never see vampire JW's!

If you really think about it, that could apply to all religions. Every culture and religion tells you what to believe and not believing what you're told is not acceptable. Some are more forceful than others, but they all do it.

A couple of others:

Meet the boy at the door, carrying a broom handle: "You see this? Just remember- anything that happens to my daughter tonight, can also happen to you!"

or

"I have a shotgun and a shovel, and I know how to use both of them!"

I would think that the law would step at some point as far as a kid dying and needing blood. Religion or not... a kids life is a kids life no matter what their parents beliefs are.

I once had a friend who would keep a Ouija next to her door.:lmao:

I told them my family had been Puritans who came over on the Mayflower and whatever religious beliefs we held had worked just fine for us for 400 years and we were sticking to it. It was a bonus that I was dressed in black. :thumbsup2 They were both teenage girls and you could almost see the wheels turning in their heads, trying to think of where there was a Puritan Church nearby. :lmao: I didn't bother to tell them I was a Presbyterian. :rotfl:

They started in telling me about their religion and I threw some Puritan history at them. It was as if they were using spitballs against a cannon. Once I got on the subject of religious persecution and refused to let them get a word in edgewise, I could see the panic in their eyes. :rotfl2: They told me how nice it was to meet me and scurried out of there.

I just out-religioned them. I'm sure you could out-Catholic, out-Jew, out-Hindu or out-Muslim them as well. I simply put them on the listening/passive end, which is what they are used to and they had no idea how to handle that, so they ran off. They have never come back.

I don't usually get to bothered by them being at my door. I did have a problem with a friend of my DD and her family when she was little. DD still believed in Santa and it was a part of her childhood I loved because it made the holidays magical. Her friend told her there is no Santa and how does she like having parents that lie to her. They were about 9 at the time. I blasted the mother big time. Believe what you want but keep it away from my kids.
I do open the door for them usually because I like to debate people but one summer I was busy and they would not leave telling me how nice it would be if the lions lay down with the lambs. I asked if it was before or after they ate them. Undaunted they went on about how there would be no more crime in the world. My DH is a sheriff. I looked at the woman and said, with a straight face, lady i dont care what you want to believe but I hope crime stays around for a long time, it puts food on my table and keeps my husband busy catching the bad guys. They didn't come back for a long time after that.

ACK!!! We had a problem with this last year because of DD's Hindu friend down the street. We have gone out of our way to respect their traditions and religion. When DD unwittingly invited the friend over for the 4th of July meal....the day on which we grilled a big old slab of COW :lmao: .....we quickly made sure there was something cooked that the friend could eat too. Of course, she looked at us like we were heathens as we chomped on our steaks, but.....:rotfl:

Anyway, 2 days before Christmas, this kid goes out of her way to insist to DD that there is no Santa. DD says, "Oh yeah....then who gives you all those presents?" Friend tells her your parents do it. Yada, yada. She was on a crusade to convince DD there was no Santa. We didn't say anything to her mom because I know her well enough to know the mom has undoubtedly warned the kid, "We may not believe in Santa, but everyone else in the neighborhood does, so don't ruin it for them." For crying out loud, the mom had put out Christmas decorations in an attempt to fit in. If I'd told her mother, she would have been mortified.

But DH and I were livid. This child has a mean streak and we suspect she was jealous of all the "Santa" presents DD was going to get and she set out to take the wind out of DD's sails. DH said only half jokingly, "Well, we could tell DD that Santa only visits Christian children." :rotfl2: After we got over laughing from that thought, we knew we had to come up with a better plan. So we told DD something to the effect that her friend has different customs and traditions than we do and just as we don't celebrate all HER holidays, she does not celebrate all of OURS. Since her friend does not celebrate Christmas, there is no reason for her to believe in Santa and that's fine for her.

We made a mental note to avoid the child at all costs starting in November and not be around her again until the end of January. We can't trust her and she's not diddling us out of Santa. :headache:

You know , these people arnt out to hurt you. They believe that they have a lifegiving thing and they want to share it with everyone. So they think they are saving your life, be grateful that they think enough of you . You will find all diffrent kinds of personalities in them just as well as anyone else. So you find some that is pushy and some that is shy, all diffrent kinds. They arnt all programed to be pushy. There is a simple thing to do if you dont want them to come to your door, and they wont. Put a note out that saise , " No JW's". That is simple enough.

I feel strongly about it, even witnessed it once.. You have no idea what it is like to be a nurse completely helpless because of a patients fanatical (YES I SAID IT) religious viewpoints, I literally had to sit there as this poor kids hemoglobin tanked below 5 and there was not a damn thing I could do about it except cry alone in the staff room :sad2:

Religious freedom to a point but not when it becomes dangerous

Call me snarky, say it's not black and white.. I think it's child abuse at the severest of degrees and thats all there is to it... Oh and yea, they "supported their beliefs" by quoting the bible and falling in line like a sheep... even using words like "commanded" I am so happy my mother raised me to be a free thinker, thank god for my daughter if she would ever need a blood transfusion

That is so sad. My dd10 had a tumor on her liver when she was born that caused her to need sooooo many hemoglobin transfusions when she was an infant. I just remember how lethargic she was when it was so low. I can't imagine just watching a child feel like that and what it would be like to be stopped from helping the child.

I won't pass judgement on the practice because I don't understand it all.

All in all. Jehovahs witnessess do what they do because the bible tells them to do or not do something. So no matter what you do or say, they or we, are not gonna do what you say instead. Gods word over mans. Believe me Our kids are not depriving for anything. They are more loved and more safer than anyone elses kids. They are happy. Just ask them, they can explain to you how they feel, they are also smart. About the blood transfusions. There are many hospitals now that are into bloodless everything and they are not owned by Jehovahs witnesses. They see that it is healther to do things the clean way. We have many articles and vidios about Drs explaining how much healther it is. Usually those that say their relative needed blood cause they were so bad off, so they gave it to them. They died in the long run. So it doesnt save lives. If your a nerse, read up on that, you will be surprised what you find. But even if the Drs didnt say that. We believe the bible when God tells us not to do something. We listen. Its our lives at stake.

The first year we moved to our existing home, the JW's showed up one Saturday morning, my husband showed them our dog and told them she bites, which she doesn't, but they haven't been back to our house since! :rotfl2: :rolleyes1

And that's why you never see vampire JW's!
:rotfl2: Oh no! Not the vampires again! :rotfl2:

I should not have to post anything on my door or house. A simple "No" should suffice.

I am an atheist and my child is not deprived of anything. He is dearly loved. He is very happy, and very smart. Just because you are a JW, does not mean your child is safer than my child.

I worked in the Blood bank of a hospital. Too bad you were not there to see all the people saved by blood. But I guess you're right, everyone dies in the long run. So maybe that person shouldn't have got that transfusion twenty years ago.

They seem to only come in my neck of the woods when there's a
full moon.

my dh was cutting the grass one day when 2 mormons came calling. He told them I would love to hear from them so he gave them my cell phone number. My dh thought it was funny.

:rotfl2: Oh no! Not the vampires again! :rotfl2:

Maybe I should post a sign that says "Protected by Smith and Wesson".

Think it'll work?
