Hi guys

Hoping for some help here. I still have not finalized our trip next week (my god the horror, I know!!) I've been a little lazy to nail down dates as I haven't been able to get any FP+ for anything so I've been kind of winging it. Anyway, regardless I do have a scheduling conflict, of sorts, that I'd like your take on.

Assume all other days for our trip are spoken for so this is my only option.

DS is determined that he will do the Jedi training academy. It's the only thing he is remotely interested in doing. I didn't realize until this week that you basically have to sign up at the beginning of the day if you hope to get a spot in one of the times. Originally i had planned a late start for HS, as it's a smaller park and we wanted to stay for Fantasmic.

On the 20th we have Chef Mickey's reservations at 12:25. My plan was to have a late start, do lunch there and then head to HS. Now I am wondering if that is a good idea. Instead should we plan to do Epcot after Chef Mickey's and stay through the afternoon/evening? Knowing that my kids are 6 and 4, would say... a 2pm start at Epcot, staying through to the show be enough, knowing it's our only day at Epcot?

Alternatively, we keep our Chef Mickey's reservation and chance signing up for the Jedi academy once we arrive at HS around 2ish (rough estimate).

What are your thoughts?

For some reason I want to say that I have read on here that Jedi training is closed and undergoing a transformation but I'm not sure of the dates.. But if it isn't when you are there...I would not chance singing up later in the day. We tried that last year and it didn't work out. We didn't do our research and didn't know we had to be there pretty much when the park opened to sign up

My advice is to get to DHS well before rope drop. There will be no chance of doing the JTA otherwise. Chef Mickey's is pretty bad - it's definitely not worth preventing you from doing something else.

It's also our only character dining experience :( I couldn't get anything else to work with our schedule. My kids are looking forward to it, if only for the make your own sundae bar :p

No way you be able to do Jedi Training if you first arrive at DHS after 11am-11:30am, or so.

Yeah..I saw that after I posted. I edited it to say I wasn't sure of the dates... My bad.. :badpc:

You will not get a spot in JTA showing up at 2:00
If you must keep Chef Mickeys, switch that day to your epcot day.

Well, I suppose you could go to DHS (be there by 8:15,) leave at 11:30, have lunch at Chef Mickey's, and then go back to DHS. You'll probably get back around 2:30 or so.

But there would be a lot of hoping you get a JTA time that fits into that schedule, right?

I agree with the PP. We have rope dropped twice to get the JTA and even though we felt like we were some of the first people headed that way, our return times were for well into the afternoon. I would think it sells out in the first hour or two.

PS We love Chef Mickey's!

Had a semi similar dilemma this past week. Maybe it will help. We wanted a day without parks so we split HS and AK in one and just did the main things we like at each park. To take advantage of EMH this past Sunday at AK, my DS and I went to HS at RD to sign him up for JTA that afternoon, while the rest of the fam and friends went to AK. We got to HS at 0800 and let through "turnstiles" sharply at 0830. Went to internal rope drop and they led us to JTA signup (peacefully). The line seemed like it went on forever so highly recommend getting early. We then hopped to AK to meet up with rest of fam by 0930ish.

If you do something similar you give up your morning relaxing but you and your son will then be able to do your lunch and JTA later on. Good luck in your choice!

Thanks. I think we are going to swap out our days. Which is unfortunate because we do love Epcot, but this way we will stay through to Illuminations (I think that's the name of their night show). My only worry now is HS being suuuuuuch a long day with very little to do. My kids were looking forward to Fantasmic.

Oh well, I guess we can just do TSMM over and over and over and over again :P

1. IllumiNations is at Epcot. Fantasmic! is at DHS.
2. We spend entire days at DHS.
