Jean's return to healthy living plan ( friends welcome anytime )

I have just spent two hours on the computer and I've come to the conclusion that I don't have the time or patience to deal with all these airfares, rental cars codes, hotel codes, etc. I'm thinking I might just use Dreams Unlimited or Small World and let them do the dirty work...either way it's gotta be cheaper than what we paid for a package through our local TA.

I've heard good things and bad about both travel agencies. Anyone prefer either one for a particular reason? Dreams is a sponsor on the DIS, but Mousesavers likes Small World.

I was getting upset with myself and frustrated...Southwest doesn't even have airfares posted past October, and JetBlue is like $200 per person each way!!! $1200 for airfair for 3 people?

I think I need to forget about this now and exercise...

Tomorrow I will bring a Luna bar 180 calories and eat it at the end of my shift before the drive home...that should help.

I did my exercise later tonight after I got my hair done. I increased the resistance again on the Nordic Track and worked through my reps slowly. I know when I start to daydream during my workout that it's time to make it a little tougher to keep me focused...

Hi Jean,

The Luna bar thing is very helpful with my diet I have 3 meals and 2 snacks per day...for my afternoon snack I have a Luna bar (about 3/4:00 when my cravings are the strongest).

I love the machines that you can adjust the resistance....I do that a lot with the cardio machines at the gym- that and doing the different programs on the machines helps too! You don't get too bored.

How was Harry Potter on IMAX? I bet it was amazing! Me and DF want to see it again....We thought about the IMAX thing but the closest location is about an hour away from us.

Well, it sounds like you are doing well. Keep it up:wave:

Hi Jean!

I just finished reading your journal and it looks like you're doing great. It's nice to see someone who's taking the same approach to dieting that I am, making healthier choices and controlling portion size.

Mmm...I'm going to have to try a luna bar too. It'll help during the afternoon when I seem to get the munchies.

I like the Luna bars; it's one snack of mine that my husband won't touch. I tell him that it's full of "chick nutrients" like soy!:teeth: He stays far away from them...I think he's afraid they're full of estrogen or something...ha!

Have a great day everyone!

Jean,

Did you say or did I miss it/don't remember, but when are you traveling? I did send a request for a bid on a cruise to the sponsor from this site and have yet to hear from them. They have not gotten back to me in their stated time. Maybe because my cruise is awhile out? Longer than their wanted timeframe? People do plan in advance though. I will be checking with my local travel agent. I do not beg anyone to take our $. That is just rude. I have found that TA's want to always sell you the length of stay pass so that is where the hike comes from in your overall price. Also do they apply codes if they are out? I don't know that. Good luck in planning.:D

Hi Jean,

You'll have to let me know how you like the TA's. I have always done my own planning, but I'm considering using one for our next trip. My DH won't go near anything with soy in it either.
Have a great day.
Beth

I'm a big do-it-myself travel planner also. I've had varying degrees of luck with travel agents...Small World was doing a great job for us last year but then we had to cancel the trip.

I do the planning for my sister and parents too. If my mother would just make up her mind what she wants - their trip is first week of August and I'm telling her she won't be able to be picky when it comes to PS's. However, they did take advantage of the fairy tale package at the last minute last July and I got them every PS they wanted only a month out too.

If you are hungry - EAT! Just make sure that it really is hunger and not thirst. Drink something first, wait about 10-15 minutes, still hungry EAT!

Your workout sounds great. Good for you.

-Laurie

Hi guys,

The main reason I'm considering a Disney TA is I don't have access to a computer all the time at work since I'm in an operating room...I can check a little before my shift starts and sometimes at lunch, but it's not like I have time to be checking for codes, airfares, car rental codes, etc. all the time. At least not working full time! I really want to try to save $$ this time, especially since we'll also be putting down the first deposit on my son's college next spring too!!

I definitely want to do room only ressie, 3 days at Hard Rock, 4 days probably at Contemporary...I really loved the GF, but I really want the cheapest room on the monorail I can get. I can buy my own PHP's at the Disney Store or one of those online ticket places. I really want to fly SWA, but the rates for that time won't be out for awhile I guess. I don't know about Universal passes...I know their are places to get them ahead of time...well, maybe I'll e-mail Dreams or SW and tell them all this stuff and see what happens...I really want to at least get a room booked now, especially at Hard Rock, cause those hotels book up so quickly for FOTL!

I'm having a little plantar foot pain so tonight is my rest night from exercise. I'll just shower and read.

Harry Potter at IMAX was great...it was the second time I saw the movie. The second time is always better, you notice more things...I had my issues with the movie as others have mentioned. Just glad I re-read the book beforehand. I'm going to re-read 4 and 5 over the next couple of months.

Thanks for visiting me everyone...I will try to read some journals tomorrow or over the weekend...I hope everyone has a great 4th. I have to work.

Jean, I like to do my own booking for everything so I don't use a travel agent. We did use Dreams once and had a good experience.

Sorry to hear you're working over the holiday. I sincerely hope you do nothing but sit around - that no one has any health issues that are so severe that they need surgery.

I'm sending :sunny: and best wishes for a wonderful weekend!

Hello to all,

I rested from exercise on Thursday and ended up skipping Friday too because I got very little sleep on Thurs. night due to some bad thunderstorms that came through our area. Instead I crashed early. Yesterday my son came home from his trip to Washington DC with Presidential Classroom. He really enjoyed it. He even got to meet Bob Dole and Chief Justice Rehnquist. How exciting for him!

Good news all. My scale this am showed a 5 lb. loss! My first clippie!!!:Pinkbounc Now I don't mind putting the scale away for a month because I feel I have a tangible accomplishment to look at everyday...Thanks to all you guys for all the encouragement!

I have to go do a case now at work. I'll talk to you all later!

Thanks all...I am happy to have accomplished a small part of my goal. Getting started is the toughest part of healthy living I think, now that I'm in the beginning phase, I'm enjoying it. It will be tougher later, I know, when the newness fades off. It's also tough to stay motivated when you get really close to goal. I find that I can do well for about 4-6 months, then I go off plan in a big way. I really admire you WISH'ers who have stuck with your goals for over 6 months to a year..WTG!! Well, now of course I have you guys to cheer me on, so I'm definitely not alone in this.

Work was good yesterday. Only had to do the one case. I could have had a lovely exercise evening, but unfortunately, my laptop has been infected with a very nasty program...:badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:
Since I downloaded and installed Adaware 6 and Spybot, I hadn't had any probs, but this thing is giving me a real headache. It's some program that shows up when I shut off the computer. It's also interfering with my McAfee Privacy Service, the introductory screen wouldn't come up, so I couldn't get on the Internet. So basically I have had to disable all my McAfee components, so I have no virus scan or firewall on this computer, but can access the Internet. So I turned on the Windows Internet Connection Firewall so that I'd have something, I ran Windows Update, and I'm running Adaware and Spybot at the beginning and end of each computer session. If I try to uninstall any of my McAfee programs, the computer won't let me! If I go to the McAfee site and try to re-download and install my McAfee products, the computer won't let me! The download freezes about halfway through!! (EVIL MALWARE PROGRAM!!!)

I get so frustrated with these evil people that come up with these things...don't they have anything better to do??? So anyway, yesterday I was dealing with this issue for 4 hours when I got home and guess what? I forgot to eat dinner, so by 8:30 I had a splitting headache, took some Tylenol and went to bed.

I feel better today. At least I can use the laptop. (And we have a perfectly functioning desktop so it's not like we have nothing) It's just frustrating...we've only had this laptop since December and I 've had more issues with it than with my old computer that we had for 6 years! I blame the cable internet connection though. I guess I will call McAfee and see if they have any suggestions, but I doubt they will be able to help. They usually want me to download and reinstall their programs and I can't do that....I'm thinking of trying System Restore, but I bet it won't help. I'm sure the evil trojan people have figured out a way around that because many people would probably try that solution first.

Well, today starts the scale challenge...No more scale....No more scale....No more scale!!!! I can't wait to be "promoted"...Good luck everyone!!

Hi Jean!
Congratulations on your clippie!:thewave: Your hard work is paying off!

I'm sorry that you have been having issues with your laptop. :badpc: I hope that you can get it fixed soon.::yes::

How is the vacation planning coming? I love planning WDW vacations! I hope you find a good travel agency to work with. ::yes::

Have a great day today!:sunny:

Congrats on the clippie!

I had really bad plantars facitis (sp) early on in my walking. I bot some pads for my shoes and a trainer friend at LSU told me to ice the bottom of the heel at night before bed and to take a towel or rope and loop it under the toes and pull and stretch the toes toward you in the morning. It hurts really bad at first, but it took me about 3 weeks to get over it! Very painful, especially first thing in the morning!

Thanks for posting on my board, check my out when you get a chance again, I went on one of my famous goofy tangents!

Anyway, congrats again on the clippie and keep it up!

The only male wish boarder!

Congratulations Jean!

You have made a great start. All that hard work is really paying off. Congrats again.
