Jean's return to healthy living plan ( friends welcome anytime )

Good morning Jean,
Stopping by to say, and to see how you are doing. I hope that everything is going well for you. Have a great Sunday!

Hi guys,

Well, instead of enjoying my lovely 3 days off, I spent it in computer tech support hell, trying to get my laptop working again. Despite all my antispyware programs and my firewall, a really bad program insinuated itself into my registry, and eventually damaged the operating system so badly that I had no option except to reformatt and reinstall Windows. That was the easy part...it has taken me the better part of the weekend to reconfigure my wireless router to recognize the laptop...for awhile there I had no Internet on either computer!! But for now, everything seems to be working ok, except that I can't DIS from my laptop...

The program McRegWiz.exe is a BAD, BAD, program...delete it immediately if you see it!! I just downloaded a great antispyware program called SpySweeper from the website webroot.com...It was the only program that has picked up this spyware....(It was trying to get onto my desktop computer!)

In the meantime, I totally fell off the wagon over the weekend...no exercise either...so I'm back OP today and looking foward to get back into my healthy lifestyle today. I have also stayed off the scale...no good news obviously...

Thanks for all your support, guys..back to work now.
Jean

Great to hear from you Jean. Sorry about the computer issues, I have an issue with my home PC that I just haven't had the patience to deal with.

Right now, I prefer my laptop anyway.

Anyway, it is totally understandable with the hours you work, etc that you would fall off the exercise. I know you can get back to it no problem.

I really missed your humor over the past week.

Here's a little magic :wizard: to help you in keeping a positive attitude and getting back to your routine.

Great to hear from you again! Have a great week! :sunny:

Hi everyone,

It's been awhile since I last posted...I figured my journal would be somewhere on page 2!
Haven't been home for two weeks, out traveling along the east coast looking at colleges with my son. Living out of suitcases, hanging out in hotel rooms, driving for miles, rushing to catch flights...I'm just glad I don't have a traveling job, I'd be out of my mind! Good to be back home for sure.
Wanted to congratulate Lisa on your new clippie! That is so awesome...and a testament to all your hard work!
I'll post more when I get caught up with the journals and threads.
And I did finish the SOTS challenge. I just couldn't post because I was away without computer access...It really wasn't as hard as I thought to stay away while I was home...as a matter of fact, I think I will stick to a weekly Monday morning before work weigh-in only. I can usually tell anyway by how the clothes feel if I'm making progress.

Best to all WISH'ers,
Jean :wave2:

Hi Jean,

Welcome back! I missed your great sense of humor so much! Look forward to seeing you post more often.

So was a college decided?

We visited 9 schools. A few were knocked off the list. Now he has to narrow it down to about 6 schools that he'll apply to. We'll have to see. I think he wants to go somewhere warmer, maybe Virginia...

Hi Jean...

I used to see you around the WISH boards when I first started and missed you while you were gone...

Thanks for joining the WISH exercise challenge today. I've added you to the Challenge Roster but I was wondering if you wanted to start with a goal of 500? That's half of the original goal and it's very doable in the next two weeks.

Let me know about your goal & have fun exercising!

Thanks Rae Ann for adding me to the Challenge. Great motivator. Put me down for 750 though, I'd like to see how close I can get to my goal. ;)

I was thinking of reasons that we all come up with to lose weight...occasions, seasons, events, whatever. Someone once told me that it's not enough to want to look good for an event, because afterwards you will lose your motivation to stay on your healthy lifestyle track. Well, I sort of disagree with that. I think that feeling and looking good for an event is a great goal...what we need to do is keep making new goals during each year. Now that shouldn't be too hard...there is always your birthday and there is always the holidays (parties=new dress), and there is always summer or a vacation to celebrate (maybe in WDW?). Let's see, what else? Hmmm...anniversaries, school reunions, weddings, graduations, lots of good chances to show your family, friends and co-workers the new, healthy you!!! Any other good ideas?

Last time I was my ideal weight (about 2 years ago), I celebrated by buying a pair of black leather pants to wear to a company Christmas party.....within the next 10 months, I will turn 45, celebrate my 20th anniversary and see my son graduate from high school...all good reasons to keep working toward my healthy weight and lifestyle!

Onward and downward, everyone!::yes::

Jean, it's good to see you back here!! So sorry to hear of the computer problems, though. I've had my share - no fun at all!!

My son is starting 11th grade and my daughter is starting 10th grade. We'll have to do the "grand college tour" twice in the next 2 years, so I may be in touch for some tips and hints!! ::yes:: Glad it was helpful to you and your son. Best wishes for him in the next year - graduating, getting accepted and moving to college are all big steps!

Now it's back to basics - eat healthy, drink lots of water, exercise.....you know the drill, Jean!! :sunny:

Jean, I agree with you about losing weight for an ocassion- I usually do that along with trying to keep a healthy lifestyle.

Sounds like you have a lot of good celebrations coming up. Good luck on all of your goals- I know you can do it.

Hi to all,

And now I have something else to look foward to...just booked my next Disney trip for April 2005! Yippee!:jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

Congratulations on the booking of your trip! Where are you staying....I want details. :)

Are you staying on or off property. DF and I are still looking into all of the different hotels, such a hard decision. :p

Jean, I hope all is going well! I agree with Jodi - we want details about the trip!! :teeth:  :hyper:

Hope you have a wonderful day! :sunny:

Hi Jean,

Sorry I've been MIA. I just booked a trip for 12/2005. I think planning is half the fun. Let's hear all the details. Have a great weekend.
Beth

Well, thanks to all for the good wishes. I am excited that I finally booked the resorts. I decided to go through SueEllen at DU for that part of the trip and after seeing the "code craziness" on the resort board this past week, I'm glad I did. I work over 40 hours a week, and have to leave the house at 5:15am and I can only have computer access during my half hour lunch. So there is no way I could be on hold for any length of time to talk to someone at CRO! So here's what I did:

We're going on our April school break which is gonna kill us in airfare, but my DD's a freshman this year and I can't take her out, she would fall too far behind with the block scheduling at the high school. I'm planning on being one of the first to call when Southwest opens up their April bookings...

We've never been to Universal, so we want to check it out this time. My DH wanted to stay at HRH because some of his co-workers have been there and loved it. Also, when I checked out availiability on Universal's website, the RPH was showing no availiability for those dates! So we've booked the first three days at HRH in a basic garden view room. I've already put the deposit down for that room, no discounts yet, but SueEllen said she'd apply them when available. I have AAA and a FANclub card and will get the Entertainment book if they offer discounts for that period. Like Disney, I think the discounts will be fewer since travel is up, and these places don't have to bend over backwards to draw people in.

The next 4 days of out trip we booked at the CR in the North Garden Wing. I absolutely loved the GF last year and want to stay on the monorail so DD and I can hit the MK after dinner. But I wasn't gonna spend that kind of cash for the GF...not with college tuition looming in the future! So I opted for the cheapest room I could get on the monorail. I'm there basically for the rides anyway...so the resort is not a big deal.

I debated not even going this year, but hopefully by booking things a la carte instead of a package, we can save some $
So Dreams will take care of resort ressies and any discounts, as well as park passes (after I'm sure we've got plane tickets) and PS's. DD and I are discussing where we want to eat...I want to do the Fantasmic Dinner Package, since we haven't seen it yet and DD wants to eat at the Crystal Palace, since her favorite, Eeyore, is there.

My job is to book airfare, as I've discussed above. I'm pinning my hopes on SWA...I used them on our college jaunt out to Chicago, and they do a great job. Very efficient, friendly, great sense of humor, which helps in these times when flying...Also I will do the rental car..have checked out codes on Mousesavers but none will apply until date gets closer. I can always change ressies there, anyways, no big deal.

Gee, I've learned alot on the DIS! I wouldn't have had a clue how to go about planning a Disney trip if it wasn't for these boards. After I get my deposit down on my CR ressie I am going to have to give some serious consideration to becoming a DIS sponsor...

Am I boring you guys? I hope not...I'm going to do my exercise in about 30 minutes, after my late dinner digests some more. I want to add a few more minutes to my pathetic August total. At least I'm signed up for September...I want a new clippie badly!

Best to all,
Jean

Hi Jean,

I di the same thing as you did. I used DU to book my room only reservation. I would have ended up insane waiting for codes. I'll let her deal with that stress. Now if she can only get me CRT. I'll be calling on that one as well.

Your trip sounds fabulous. It is amazing all we learn here isn't it? I hope you have a great week.
Beth

Hi Beth,

Yes, I saw your posts. I was getting stressed out just reading the posts! Glad you've got your room too. Where are you staying?

Well, I just finished my sweaty workup. Off to the tubby to cool off and then bed! Whew! Have a great tomorrow...:sunny:

Just wanted to record what weights I used today so that I have a reference for the future:

Squats-10 lbs.
Lunges-10 lbs.
Stiff-Legged Dead Lift-15lbs.
Calf Raises-20 lbs.
Step Ups-No weight, going easy on my sore left knee for now. Will add weight when stronger
One other leg thing I do, can't remember the name, a dead lift from a squatting down position-15 lbs.
Crunches on ball-22
One arm dumbell row-20 lbs.
Shoulder shrugs-20 lbs.
Upright row-10 lbs.
Lateral raises-8 lbs.
Foward raises-8 lbs.
Chest press-10 lbs.
Dumbell fly-10 lbs.
Bicep curls-15 lbs.
Tricep kickbacks-8 lbs.

A few of the exercises I am back to my old weight, most not yet, but I know it will take some time to wake up the muscles. Since I'm only doing one set of each exercise, I should be able to increase the weight pretty quickly.

Ok, time for a late dinner before I eat something I shouldn't!!!

Hi Jean,

Way to go with your workout! That is wonderful!!!

Your trip sounds great! It's amazing how much information you can get on these boards, isn't it?::yes::

Have a great day today!

Tracy:wave2:

Hi Jean,

We are staying at CSR for 9 days 12/2005. I am totally obsessed. I am feeling much better about going with DU now. We'll have to see how I am next August when I am waiting for the codes to come out.

Great job on the workout. THat is awesome. I'm sure you'll be back up to where you were in no time. ::yes::

I wanted to thank you for your kind words on my journal. The friends I have made on this board are truly a blessing in my life. Thank you again.

Have a good evening,
Beth
