January/February 2018 discounts, who else is in?

We are booked at POFQ, but are watching for the discounts. If a great room only discount comes out, we are debating about switching to another mod or possibly upgrading to AKL. If we were to switch to another mod it would probably be POR (I just don't think we want to give up the boat ride to Disney Springs or to deal with the construction at CSR or CBR). But, you never know. If we could save a chunk of money by staying at CSR, maybe we would consider it.

I just can't decide how much money we would need to save to make a switch worthwhile. Anyone else debating something similar?

For our August trip this year, AKL standard was approximately $20 more per night than POFQ. It was our 4th AKL stay and we were very happy - it was a great value. Having stayed at all the mods (except cabins) I highly recommend the upgrade to AKL. If transportation is important to you, I'll add that our experiences at AKL with the bus (no sharing with other resorts - just Kidani) has always been fantastic.

not sure if anyone can answer this or not... but we are looking to go at the end of Jan early Feb.... not sure how many days we want to do. if we book 9 days or 8 days can we just call and switch to 8 or 7 days... or do we have to rebook totally ??

Because Movies and Art of Animation are the most awesomest. Or they are booked up already. Whichever you think is most funny.
Compared to the other All Stars, Movies appeals to a wider audience. Sports isn't everybody's thing. Music is *slightly* more adult. Movies is very popular with the young children and is arguably the most "Disney".

Do we know if the rumored deal dropping tomorrow is for everyone or for Chase Disney Visa holders?

Is it on the quick service plan as well?

Yes, it's all of them. The drinks you get at restaurants can be sodas or novelty drinks or alcohol. I think we don't know yet if it is ANY alcohol or just alcohol under a certain price point or what. You can't use snack credits for alcohol though.

So you vote for 'awesomest' so noted.

Movies is the awesomest AS! I spend most of my time in the mods, but did spend a night at Movies a while back. Love the theme. Pop is even better, but has lots of capacity (when not under construction), so discounts are fairly frequent.

11 p.m. CST just in case I doze off in the next few minutes and again at 4 a.m.

Midnight comes and goes with no new special offers. I don't find this the least bit surprising but still wanted to check. I'd say the next "important time" if you will is 5am...

Good luck all!

According to Mousesavers historical chart of discount releases, Visa discount has always come out before general public. Here is a link to the charts. https://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/#2017

Not always. Usually, the Disney Visa discount is first, but there have been exceptions.

Actually you are both right (but maybe SuzyQue is just a little more right, lol). Some discounts have been directly released to the public...HOWEVER With regards to the Stay Play & Dine Deal there has always been a Disney Visa early release:
2017 Travel - released 9/28/16 VISA, released 9/30/16 PUBLIC
2016 Travel - released 9/24/15 VISA, released 9/28/15 PUBLIC
2015 Travel - released 10/6/14 VISA, released 10/9/14 PUBLIC
2014 Travel - released 10/3/13 VISA, released 10/7/13 PUBLIC
2013 Travel - released 10/4/12 VISA, released 10/10/12 PUBLIC

In 2011 and 2012 the deal for this time period was Free Dining and I honestly don't recall whether there was an early Visa Release. BUT as long as SPD has been the deal (5 straight years) there has always been an early Visa release by a minimum of 2 days (last year) and as many as 6 days in years prior. If they release Stay Play Dine directly to the public it would be a very interesting decision in my opinion given the historical track record...

Oh gotcha. I thought the alcoholic beverages were only given at table service meals!
