January/February 2018 discounts, who else is in?

Thank you for the link! I’m send Ming it to my tA so he knows - it’s our first time ever going to WDW and so we hear a lot of information, that’s why I started participating more in the forums to be made aware of which ones where true and which aren’t.
You're welcome. There's no guarantees the discount will be the same as last year and as you probably can see it has gotten worse each year. I do believe Disney is intentionally mysterious about the deal (probably because save "40% off the dining plan!" just doesn't sound very exciting). BUT that hasn't stopped some of us from cracking the code!

So our family of 5 adults has AoA suite in mid march 11-17. We are doing the deluxe dining plan. Would the SPD or room only be a better discount? We are open to changing resorts and even getting 2 rooms but days are strict and we want deluxe dining plan.

Until the deal drops nobody can really answer this question as their answer will be based purely on speculation. I would recommend running the numbers of your two scenarios when the offer(s) drop and see what is best for you. A guess off the top of my head would be that the SPD offer would be better for you but that is purely a guess.

Scrapping is right...at this point all speculation. With 5 Adults in one room, I'd be highly surprised if SPD isn't the best deal for you though! Based on last year's math, the Room only discount would have to be in excess of 22% for the room only to make more sense, and I don't think Disney will discount AoA suites that much (but I could be wrong...or the math could change).

Asking again as this thread is moving fast... if one wanted to start monitoring for a spd sale to drop tonight (we're visa holders)... where would we look? On the Disney website (on the special offers page maybe?) Or on the Disney visa site? Or here?

Sorry, I can't help you with where to look as as a Canadian we do not see the Disney Visa deals.

One word of caution about relying on this site is that it shuts down nightly for maintenance for a couple of hours I believe so the offer may drop but people will not be able to post it here.

Hope someone else can help you with where you will see the details.

Lots of unknowns at this point. We don't know if tomorrow's rumored discount is a PUBLIC or VISA release.

IF Public - you could begin refreshing the Disney website overnight, probably would go live between 5am and 8am Eastern. You could call starting at 7am Eastern. People will post here VERY quickly about it as well
IF Visa - it may not release online (but it could be online), You might get an email from Disney Visa about it (but probably not until much later in the day) you could call starting at 7am Eastern, Again people will post here quickly about it.

The best way to find out about these discounts (I've found) is to stay tuned in right here! Keep in mind that the boards do go down for maintenance overnight each night I believe. I haven't been on them at 5am recently or anything but I know that used to be the case.

If a room type at a resort is no longer available (all booked) does that mean it won't be included in any deal?

Room Categories are the biggest thing that can change from day to day with these discounts. For example, I had to book a water view room the one year because standard wasn't available. I kept checking back and finally a couple weeks later a standard room opened up.

You also may find that the availability you see today on the Disney Website may vary greatly from the rooms and categories available on the discount. There's always speculation on whether Disney sets aside rooms for these discounts or not, but there is no conclusive answer to that.

My best advise is to be flexible. You may need to move up a room category (which would erode some of your savings) to take advantage of the deal. Also keep checking back in the event your desired room type (or a more optimal option) opens up!

Thanks. I'm guessing we'll have to upgrade to get the deal, which is a bummer. But, if it saved half of what I was hoping, still worth it.

You may not have to move up a category. I'll admit that I've never booked a SPD offer but have booked many FD and RO rooms for people and historically standard rooms are often available - at least at Pop where I book most trips for myself and others.

I'm hoping, but right now, they're all sold out (garden wing at Contemporary). Hopefully Disney held back some rooms.

IF rooms are sold out currently there is still a chance they could become available IF someone that has that room reserved changes to a different/room resort. I'm hoping for that myself. We just need one night in Feb. We currently have LMAoA because no other value is available but I'm hoping someone from one of the other values upgrades and I can snag that room. OR I'm hoping POR discount is enough to justify switching there.

Rumors I've seen list end date for SPD as either 3/3 or 3/10, so if accurate, your dates may be after the promotion ends.
