I just checked touringplans.com for our upcoming trip and Monday January 5th is listed as a 9!!! Other sites have this day listed as 4. Does anyone know why this date would be so busy? TIA.

No idea, but I would e-mail TP and ask. Also mention that other sites list the level as a 4. Why the huge discrepancy? I've done this in the past and they've always responded.

We're going to be there that same week and I've noticed HUGE discrepancies between the crowd level predictions on Touring Plans and Easy WDW. In fact, Touring Plans predicts the crowd level at Hollywood Studios on Sunday the 4th (our arrival day) will be a 10! Easy WDW has it as a 4 and lists it as the best park to go to for the day. I can't figure out what on earth would make that Sunday a level 10 day at the Studios when even Christmas Day and New Years Day are only predicted to be an 8. :confused3

Gem - exactly our situation too. We have out ADR for HS on the 5th.

I'm hoping it's an error w touringplans.

I've been fretting about those dates too, but I haven't emailed TP yet. At this point, I've already booked FPs and figure I'll just hope for the best. In the past, I emailed TP about a wait times discrepancy I noticed while building plans, and I did get a reply that they would look at the issue. Eventually it got fixed.

Could it be because that is last day for the Osborne lights? when I realized that we adjusted our plans to hop from epcot to dhs after our lunch in Norway.

we were there last year around those dates...it was after New Years Day...think we were there the 3rd through the 6th? Anyway, there were similar differences in the easywdw calendar and the TP calendar then, too...same kind of difference with TP being much higher on the crowd level. Turned out that easywdw was much closer on those...smaller crowds than touring plans predicted, for sure.

NOW...that, said...have to say we have been there this year...and the crowd predictions this Fall all all under-predicting the crowds for sure. We were here for one afternoon September visit, then a 3 night /3 day September visit...and here now for a 4 night/4 day visit. Crowds were predicted at 4s turned out to be 5s and 6s. Surprising for a "slow" time of year. We'll see what today turns out to be.

So I guess I'm thinking all bets are off for upcoming months...I think the "masses" are returning to WDW.

We were there 2 years ago from Jan 1-12 and the first few days (through the first weekend of Jan) were packed. MK was by far the most crowded.

Since this will be the end of the holiday break for most school age kids, I'd expect the crowds to be pretty high through that first weekend. If you keep your plans flexible and "go with the flow", you should be fine.

As for Jan 5, I don't recall the Monday after that first weekend being all that busy but maybe things have changed in the last 2 years and I have read that Mondays are typically busy days for MK. We're planning the 5th as a waterpark day and then hitting Epcot (rated a 6 on TP) at night.

Hopefully for all of us who will be there at the beginning of Jan. it won't be too crazy busy after those first few days!! :)
