January 4, 2014 Fantasy, Trust, and Pixie Dust!

My DH and I were upgraded from a 9C to a 7A (Room 7022) on our 4/12 cruise (Fantasy, Eastern) and enjoyed it very much. The obstruction does affect the light in the room (as opposed to a fully unobstructed balcony) but it was actually nice as it provided extra shade and wind break.

I also stayed in room 10052 on the Fantasy in September. Deck 11 overhangs right above, but it wasn't a bother. We were again upgraded on this cruise...booked 9D GTY and Disney gave us 5A. :cool1:

Wow that's a lot of dusting! Were these cruises where they needed to fill the ship (lots of discounts, etc) and move people around? This will be my 3rd verandah but I've had to get them all myself. You have a lot of great luck! :)

Are you in a verandah cat now?

I had a 7A on the Wonder and LOVED it way more than the 4A that I had an another cruise. I loved the bench and feeling like I was in a wind sheltered extra room. I will always book a 7A on the classic ships if I'm booking a verandah.

Yes, we were rolling in pixiedust! pixiedust: There were a lot of us (DIS group) that were upgraded/moved around. I assume they were trying to fill the ship. Same with the Sept cruise... althought we booked GTY and were very pleased to stay on deck 10!

This cruise 1/4/14... we booked 8C and requested specific rooms. I've been on the ship enough...I've got a good feel for what we wanted and location. I'm happy with a large window and that awesome round shower!! :thumbsup2

My mom was in one of these rooms on our last cruise and we loved the big verandah. She had no complaints about vibration as I have read in some reports... Honestly, being on any Disney ship in ANY room beats being home doing the mundane LOL... Of course it's always a working vacation for me :)

Rick - Thanks for the info...had heard some rumors about vibrations, but heard it's mostly when coming into or leaving port. Really excited about the big verandah!

I had the worst vibrations in my cabin on the Wonder. It was constant on my first and second days at sea. I couldn't sleep! It was slim the ceiling. They had to come in and do extensive work on it for a couple of hours. After that OT was fine.

No cruises planned yet for us from now until January. Although just this morning the bf said we should squeeze one in... Not sure how realistic that is though with two different work schedules and grad school! So we will most likely just do Disneyland a ton and maybe some other quick trips from now until the big one. In the meantime I will continue to distract myself with these boards and become a dcl pro before ever setting foot on the ship.

I can hear the crickets chirping (Jiminy of course)...

There has been recent talk of upgrading our stateroom from an inside to a verandah....not quite sure yet if it would truly be worth the cost...but a verandah would be nice. :confused3

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

How much of a price difference is it for you? For me it was only $200 so that made it easy. On the Hawaii cruise it was close to a $3000-4000 difference so that made it harder.

It would be about a 600 dollar difference...If we do decide to upgrade it will probably be in a month or so, the price might change by then, who knows. Either way I am a happy camper! Now I just have to get all that last minute Christmas shopping done!

Hi, everyone. Booked this cruise on opening day! Going with hubby, son, DIL and granddaughter (will be 6)! This is our second Disney cruise...did Alaska on the Wonder last August. I had the best time seeing my granddaughter have the best time! We're in Cat 4A in cabins 9600 and 9602 (connecting).

We just learned about the FE and would love to get involved in that!

Also we want to book a pre-cruise Disney World package to get in Magic Kingdom and Epcot (along with Universal for Harry Potter). Our TA said bookings don't open up for 2014 until this summer.

Welcome to our group!

We decided that for Christmas this year we will get each other the wdw trip tacked on to the end of the cruise. So as long as our schedules allow it we are 100% doing wdw after... Harry potter would be awesome to see, but I think I will just wait for them to build it over here in California.

Planning a quick Disneyland trip for January. Super happy that I will get to see it decorated for the holidays!

For our pre-cruise WDW stay: Has anyone stayed at The Art of Animation Resort Suites? We have 4 adults and one 6 year old. How far is it from The Magic Kingdom and Epcot?

Hope everyone's Holiday and New Year is great...a year from now we'll be getting ready for our cruise!!

Thanks, Bonnie

Wishing everyone a Very Merry Christmas!
This time next year, we'll be "this close"!

This holiday season has me really excited about it! Really hoping to stay at WDW for a few nights before. Who is going to WDW before the cruise? Where are you staying?

We're planning on doing WDW before the cruise. Waiting to hear from TA for her suggestions, but I went online and am interested in The Art of Animation because they have suites. Open for any suggestions!

That resort looks nice! You could also look into renting DVC points for a villa.

It isn't that close to MK and Epcot. It is right next to Pop Century.

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. we are doing wdw post cruise...thinking it will be crazy with the new year if we go before. Does anyone know if the ship will still be decorated for Christmas when we go? I know that at Disneyland January 6 weekend is the last weekend for holidays...not sure about the cruise line.

I got Disney Cranium for Christmas and it is so much fun! We just played it the other night and it was fun, of course the bf and I won. :cool1:

WDW is decorated until the 8th this year. I hear the first cruise after the NYE cruise is stripped of all decorations though. :(. We are going to keep the pre cruise WDW plans because DS goes back to school the Mon we get back.
