January 29, 2011 - 7 Day Eastern - WOOHOO!!

So anyone up for a mommy's night out night during the cruise?

ME ME ME!! I already told DH that one of us can go back out after we get the kids to bed....they will probably need to be in bed after the 8pm show. We'll see if they sleep in later...but I HIGHLY doubt it.

Lets see if I can get this right - please add details or correct me if I got anything wrong.............

Hi! It's been a busy couple of days at work!!

We leave Friday Jan 28 @ 11:30 am!!! We come home Tuesday Feb 8 at 3:30. Jerelle, Sean (DH) and Lauren (DD)

You live really close to my sister. She lives a little over a mile from Springfield mall. We live on the border of Falls Church and McLean. I could be in your area in 20 minutes with no traffic.

That is close!! I can be at the mall in about 5 minutes - depending upon lights and traffic!! My son's elementary school is right near the mall, so I make that trip pretty regularly!

Isn't it funny how all times here are given either "with traffic" or "without traffic":rotfl2: When we first moved here 4 years ago, I was amazed at how a 20 minute trip at 10 am could take over an hour at 4:30

Wow, this thread is hoppin......

To answer the question posted, my family will essentially be on the same flight, but they are flying down on the 28th. We are all flying together on the way back, although they will be getting off in Seattle and we will continue to Vancouver. Yes, ALOT of travelling, but all worth it! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

So anyone up for a mommy's night out night during the cruise?

That would be fun!!!

Where is your elementary school? She lives on Bardu Ave right across the street from an elementary school but I don't know the name.

Are you flying down to FL or driving? If driving, when are you planning on leaving?

That would be fun!!!
I'm up for it :) Either my DH or my ILs (or both) would be willing to watch the kids. Although the older ones could probably just go to the kids club but we will see. We have Palo one night but I can't remember which one it is right now.

Do we have a meet or anything set up yet? What is everyone doing for the FE?

We leave St. Louis at 6am on the 28th :scared1:

ETA - our flight out of Florida leaves at 12:30 pm, so we should be home by 2pm

We are flying down. We have hundreds of thousands of Delta points and actually cashed in some points and paid part for the tickets - we ended up getting five tickets for under $300 and that includes checking 5 bags so it just wasn't worth it to drive - we would have spent that much in gas and a hotel on the way down (we split the trip into two and stop in SC).

Unless the weather looks AT ALL iffy. Then we will be calling to change our flights to earlier or jumping in the car Thursday night!! It is nice to know that (minus traffic) we can jump in the car and drive straight through and be there in 13 hours. Except for traffic:rotfl: We drove down last year on the Monday before Thanksgiving. We were a little late leaving but were still on the road by 3:30. At 5 we had travelled exactly 19 miles and still weren't to Fredricksburg!!

There are a couple of schools right by the mall. It isn't our "neighborhood" school - DS switched to the GT program this year and this is the GT school for our area. They do bus him from our neighborhood, which is nice, but because they have to stop at so many neighborhoods because the GT program pulls from over 10 elementary schools it is a long bus ride. He gets out at 3:50 and is supposed to be home at 4:35, however, the bus can hit traffic depending upon accidents on 95S and he can get home as late as 5. Since I can pick him up at 3:50 and we can be home by 4 I do that a lot. It is just funny how much time I spend driving around the Springfield Mall - I probably drive right by your sister's house!! Between that and my many, many trips to the Michaels right by the mall, I am there A LOT!

It is SUCH a small world - seems like a majority of our little group are from Michigan, Ontario or Quebec Canada, and Northern VA! It must be a combination of school holidays, good deals, and just general ease of getting to Florida at this time of year. it is pretty tough to get to FL from the West Coast so probably not as appealing!!

Believe it or not the most expensive part of our entire trip is our airfare from Fort St. John to Vancouver, the shortest leg of our whole trip. It cost the same or less to fly my family of 4 from FSJ to Vancouver than Vancouver to Orlando. I hate small regional flights only manned by Air Canada! They rarely put a seat sale on, and if they do, it is like $50 off. Thankfully my parents booked our FSJ to Vancouver flight on their visa points, or else it would have cost $3200. Grrrrrr......so yes, we are paying a premium to do this trip, but it will be worth it! Someone has to represent Western Canada :)

I have an 8 year old boy (3d grade), a 4 year old girl (will start kindergarten this fall) and an infant!!

Hopefully our boys will get a chance to meet! My son was really worried for awhile when I told him about all of the 4-year-old girls on the cruise. He pictured being tormented by lots of versions of his sister:rotfl:
