You are correct - he was in school - and then he had Volleyball practice afterwards which is why he didnt get on the boards until 430pm

I am sitting here reading through 4 pages of updates rather than getting my urgent work done from the office - where are my priorities!

It is actually warmer here today, almost trying to rain. What a nice change yesterday we freezing more then normal, now we are above normal .Crazy weather I tell you.

I hate taking the kids out of school too but the school never say anything either. I just warn the teachers ahead of time. We usually pick a week that there is a P.D. and they are off so they only miss 4 days instead of 5. But this time we did that and my husband decided to at Universial on to our trip so now they are out 6 days . Next year we will have one in high school so I don't think we will be taken anymore more winter tirps but you never know right.

We are the same way - we were originally taking 1 week wth a PA day so only miss 4 days. THen we decided to add Universal so added 2 more days. Then we decided that we needed to visit my folks so now the kids are missing 9 days of school. Our school doesnt really care that much

I hope NOBODY has an event-filled year like we had last year!! We lived at the hospital. It is pretty bad when you go to the hospital cafeteria for lunch and people from various departments come up and know you by name and ask about everyone and the cafeteria staff think you are an employee!!!

Glad you will get the work ahead of time. I am hoping his teacher may bend the rules a little bit.

He is studying astronomy in school and because we live in such a major metro area, there isn't a lot of places he can see the stars - too much light or too many trees in the non-lighted places. I am planning on printing out the star charts and we will take advantage of being out at sea to have him actually SEE some of the stars. I also make him read every day (which isn't a problem) and have some journal pages that are actually decorative ones like you would use for a scrapbook for each day of the cruise so I am making him do a little journaling/writing. He was studying memories and different ways to capture memories last month. I am hoping when I show the teacher what we are already planning on doing and how it ties in with his current curriculum, she will go easy on what assignments he has to make up!!!

My son gets really stressed when he misses any school at all because they keep the work in a "make-up" folder in the classroom and when kids return, they have to do everything in the folder - and often miss recess to make it up!! I keep thinking that if it is this tough in 3d grade, it will be a nightmare when we hit junior high!!

WOW that sounds like a great program of work for them to do while on vacation.

our deal is that they do vacation on the travel day (Thursday) and then at Grandma and Grandpas in the mornings, and then on the flight home.....everything else can wait until we get back

To answer the question posted, my family will essentially be on the same flight, but they are flying down on the 28th. We are all flying together on the way back, although they will be getting off in Seattle and we will continue to Vancouver. Yes, ALOT of travelling, but all worth it!

So anyone up for a mommy's night out night during the cruise?
