We are leaving next Thursday night, will be there by Friday morning, and we are staying a week after the cruise so we aren't leaving until February 12th. Ahhh...I can't wait.

I'm not new to the board but I am new to this thread. You know my SIL, tink113, and I'm sure she has told you our information. Tonight I'll get back on and read through the thread and respond to people :) I can't wait for the cruise to get here :dance3:

Welcome to the thread! Can't wait to meet you and your family!

Hi!! you are from our area. I live near Ft. Belvoir/Springfield/Alexandria area.

Glad to see you on our board. Glad to know your kids names so I can put them on the FE (instead of just Boy - 10)!! Can't wait to meet you on the cruise!!

Dena

Since we have some new people, maybe we should re-introduce ourselves?? Our thread is a little long to start reading from scratch.

So it is me (Dena), DH (Scott) and three children Luke (8), Annemarie (4) and Jake (10 months). We live near DC. We are travelling with DHs family - parents and sister. We are celebrating anniversaries (15 years for us, 42 for in-laws) and DHs 20 years in the miitary.....it was supposed to be his "retirement" cruise but the economy stinks so he is staying in for another assignment:cool1:

I am soooooo excited for our cruise!!:cool1::cheer2::dancer:party:

You live really close to my sister. She lives a little over a mile from Springfield mall. We live on the border of Falls Church and McLean. I could be in your area in 20 minutes with no traffic.

I'm Alison, my DH is Rob, and we have 3 boys. We are going with DHs parents, brother, sister, her DH, and their baby boy. My poor MIL still hasn't gotten a grand-daughter yet but we are done so it is up to his siblings :)

We are celebrating SILs birthday and ILs anniversary. We are so excited and we can't wait to leave.

How are we doing the FEs and how many are participating?

I hope NOBODY has an event-filled year like we had last year!! We lived at the hospital. It is pretty bad when you go to the hospital cafeteria for lunch and people from various departments come up and know you by name and ask about everyone and the cafeteria staff think you are an employee!!!

Glad you will get the work ahead of time. I am hoping his teacher may bend the rules a little bit.

He is studying astronomy in school and because we live in such a major metro area, there isn't a lot of places he can see the stars - too much light or too many trees in the non-lighted places. I am planning on printing out the star charts and we will take advantage of being out at sea to have him actually SEE some of the stars. I also make him read every day (which isn't a problem) and have some journal pages that are actually decorative ones like you would use for a scrapbook for each day of the cruise so I am making him do a little journaling/writing. He was studying memories and different ways to capture memories last month. I am hoping when I show the teacher what we are already planning on doing and how it ties in with his current curriculum, she will go easy on what assignments he has to make up!!!

My son gets really stressed when he misses any school at all because they keep the work in a "make-up" folder in the classroom and when kids return, they have to do everything in the folder - and often miss recess to make it up!! I keep thinking that if it is this tough in 3d grade, it will be a nightmare when we hit junior high!!:scared1:

Oh my! :scared1: I hope you have a much calmer year! :wizard:
Yeah, I am sure he does! My son was worried about missing school & having so much homework to do. I told him we will get it all taken care of. ;)

Welcome! My 9 year old son was VERY happy to hear there will be more boys his age! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

We are new to Disney & new to cruising. We are a family of 3, myself (Lorie), Hubby (Jeff) & 9 year old son Will. This is our big family vacation celebrating my son turning 10 & our 15 year anniversary also. We live in Michigan. Looking forward to unwinding & having a great time! :cloud9:

I also have family in the area. My SIL lives in Arlington. It's a small world.

We plan on it :) We also have a busy week this week. We started it off Sunday by going to Sea World Orlando and went to see Cake at House of Blues in DTD, then tonight we're going to see Rock of Ages, tomorrow we have Beauty & the Beast: The Musical, then Saturday we're going to see Reel Big Fish at Hard Rock Orlando (Universal Citywalk). I'm getting tired just thining about it, and the crazy work schedule I have this week (2 days where I work an hour earlier (7:30-4:00), one normal start time (8:30-5:00), then two 7:00 am starts, one of which is a 10 hour day, one a six hour day. Now I'm REALLY tired thinking about this week!

WOW you have a busy life - but it sounds like a lot of fun!
