January 21, 2010 - Wonder

Okay so for group meet, how does everyone feels about the day we leave?? Maybe we could do like 1 or 2 pm on the secret deck, is that on deck 7, I can't remember...and I don't actually know exactly where its at.. LOL :rotfl: Don't be upset if I'm cranky at that time, we're from the west coast and we're taking a red eye, so by that time, I'll be ready for bed!!! Last year we had it at 2, and I couldn't go because I didn't sleep AT all on the flight overnight, so I was out at 1 pm when our room was unlocked... Sad to not meet people, but I didn't want to miss out later from being sleep deprived!

Hi Everyone,

We are up for a Cruise Meet (we've never been on a Disney Cruise so I don't know the timing of everything). We don't want the kids to miss the send off party so assuming the timing works we will be there. Just let us know where and what time.

We are leaving for WDW this Wednesday night so we will need confirmed details within the next couple of days to make sure we'll make it. I'd love my kids to meet the others on here so they have connections in the Kids Club.

Let us know what everyones thinking... pirate:

Hello all- getting really excited for the upcoming cruise-glad its next week and not this with the weather the country is having. Anyway has anyone heard about leaving pillowcases with guest relations for the characters to sign? Before I make them I would like to know for sure if they are still doing this or not. Thanks for your input-

Hey Mandy- Yes they are still doing this. We did a photo matte last year, its really great. All you do it take it to guest services on the first day of your cruise, you'll fill out who you want, fab 5, or princesses, etc. And then they deliver it back to your stateroom on the last night. Its quite a cool thing! We brought a bag of candy for all the characters who sign it as a thankyou. :)The photo matte is really quite cool too, you could do both, it makes a really lovely free souveneir and cool for your cruise pics!! :wizard:

Sailaway party is at 4 or 5 yes? I can't quite remember. Lets do the earlier the better. I'm thinking you, us, and Melynn will be in charge of putting it together, since we all for sure want to do it. So my vote is for the earlier the better. What time are you guys planning on getting to the port? We are flying in at 9:30 am that day, then getting luggage and driving over. So we'll be on the ship as soon as we can.:yay: Probably around noon, is when we got on last year. So maybe we could do 1:30? That way if people are planning on getting on as soon as boarding starts, that will still give them time to eat, then do a meet and still get unpacked or do whatever you want until the party. Whats your vote??

Melynn- Whats your preferred time and place for a meet?

Mandy,

We did this also on our last Disney Cruise. It is great, all my kids still have them on their beds. I would recommend taking the colored sharpies, I did not do this and they used markers that were not water proof so we cannot wash the pillowcases they are just for show. I am thinking about doing them again with the sharpies! We asked that the Captain sign ours and on all the backs of the pillowcases my kids have Captain Jack Sparrow's signature - really neat!

oh and just in case anyone is interested and hasn't read the room service threads... you can order (for free, but not on the menu)....

Mickey mouse ice cream bars, AND mickey head rice crispy treats. I didn't know about the rice crispy treats until a few weeks ago, I'm super excited about those, what great souven"ears" to take home!!! WOOHOOO!!!

Anyone have any other unknown tips for all of us?? Lets share our great ideas so we can all have the best cruise!!!

Oh yes, good point MAYOTWINS... bring your own sharpies!! And if you do decide to do the photo matte, put a note on which way you'd like them to sign, horizontal or vertically, so you don't get all the autographs and then realize ohhh crap, my picture faces the other direction. Less than two weeks!!!!!

Ok, I really don't have a preference. We are driving from Orlando, so we plan on getting there early too. I do want to eat as soon as we get on board.... so around 2 sound good. What time is the Safety drill? I don't want to drag our Meet out too long, just a quick DIS group meet to put some faces with names, since this cruise is sooo short! Then if we end out hanging out together later we'll at least know the other Dissers on board!

By the way, I still don't know about nassau day, a cab to the beach sounds good... can we snorkle there?

Also I'll be bringing along some DCL scrapbook paper to share, I don't scrapbook so who ever wants it can have it and divide it up..

AND one final silly question... What drinks are included in the dining rooms? Why don't I know this???:hippie:

Yes I agree for a short meet, hi I'm hawky7, I'm a disneyaholic for about my entire life, any questions...that sorta thing. As I'm personally gonna want to head to take a nap asap. Yes faces with names, and then people can meet and see if their kids get along, if anyone wants to meet for drink, or discuss things in common, etc. ARE WE ALL IN FAVOR OF 2 PM on day we board on the secret deck??? Speak now or forever hold your peace...

I'm with you, no clue what to do on Nassau day...no clue. I'm sure you can snorkel off the beach, I'm not 100% sure, but most in the Caribbean can. We are either deciding between going to a beach, going to the hilton for like $50 which is close to port and using their amenities, or staying on board and doing a spa day.... suppose I should decide, but I'm too dang busy making door decorations today!!!

Oh good question on the drinks, can't answer it, cause quite frankly, I don't really remember... So someone else is going to have to take this one...

2pm sounds fine to us. We are still arranging out way to Port so we don't have an exact time but we are coming from on-site Disney so I don't imagine any later than 12:30 arrival.

Just let us know where....

Melanie :)

:) Thats so great you are keeping it a secret, I always think, hmmm what could I plan and then keep a secret from my DH....but unfortunately, I suck at keeping secrets from him!!! :lmao:

OKAY 2 pm on the Secret Deck on deck 7 AFT. I've never actually been to it. It should be empty then and a place we know only us awesome DISers will be :) Just walk all the way to the back of the ship and look for a door with a porthole window that goes outside... you can google it if you want, I can't post the link to the pics, it wouldn't let me put the link on.

Ok, 2 pm it is... Are we sure that they will let us get there then? I am not a cruising vetran but I think that some places are off limits until certian times? Correct me if I a wrong???

I think the only time you can't go there is at night. This is where they did our cruise meet last year, at same time (couldn't go, since I was passed out asleep due to lack of sleep from our red eye flight) so I'm assuming its open.

We can do it where ever... doesn't matter to me. :thumbsup2

Ok, sound good to me! The weather says it is going to be around the 70's. it was 74 today in Nassau!:hippie:

HAALLLEEELLUUJJAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

I need some 70 degree weather!!! WWWWOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

HAALLLEEELLUUJJAAAHHHH from us too! Glad to see the heat wave coming! We're from Northeast Tennessee and it's downright COLD here. Normally it's 30-50 range in January, but it was 5 DEGREES here last night. Ugh....

We will try our best to meet you guys at 2:00 at secret deck 7 for a quick meet and greet. We plan on getting to port about noon or so, then eat lunch after boarding.

Let's all tell our kid's ages and a little bit about our family. Not a LONG story, but just a little so we'll already kinda know what our kid's interests are. My daughter is 6 and is an only child, so would love to have another little girl be her friend in the kids club so she isn't going it alone. She's not really shy.... but may feel intimidated if all the other kids all have siblings to hang with.

We were married 17 years before we had her, so she is our entire world. Hubby didn't want to go on this cruise really (he's kind of a home-body) but I really wanted to go so HERE WE ARE! lol.

I never got to go to Disney World as a kid, so I'm making up for lost time. We've been once a year for the last four years and now spreading our wings to the boat!

Anybody else with a daughter in the same age range?

As long as everything goes as planned we will be there to do the cruise meet as well. I am so excited, we have a countdown on the refridgerator and my kids and I are so glad its almost down to single digit numbers.

DH does not do cruises so will be onboard with my mom (huge disney nut, moved from New Jersey to Florida not only to get away from the cold but also to be close to mickey ; ) and my three kids, DS 10 DS 8 DD 2

also on the cruise and part of the FE is my brother (Craze4wdw) not sure if he will make it for the meet but will let him know. He is traveling with his fiance and her DD 4. My brother will be celebrating his 3oth Bday while onboard on 1/22. He doesn't want us to make a big deal about it but we are looking forward to decorating his room and putting up birthday magnets...

We are from Florida (30 minutes from Orlando) about 1 hour 45 minutes from port so we will be driving down that morning

Looking forward to meeting everyone

Chloe's mom- no kids here, but just wanted to say that we are glad you are making up for lost time and joining us on the cruise!!! You're going to have a blast!!!

CC197823- Thats awesome that you and your brother and both families will be on the cruise...wish I could convince my siblings to go on one with us, they just don't get the love I have for Disney...Speaking of is you brother and his DF planning a Disney wedding.... if so I want to talk to them!!! We are planning a DCL vow renewal for May of 2011.... Its really just so I can have the MK park all to myself in the morning and stand there in a big pretty dress and get my picture taken... A girl just needs to be a princess sometimes, ya know?? :) LOL ahahahah, but I'm serious. I really want to see mainstreet with no one else there, thats worth it to me!!!

Oh and also, is it just kinda sad, that I've been on the disboards LITERALLY all day long today... I sure do a good job wasting time online on my days off!! :lmao:

Hawky7, you are Disney Queen!!!! I love it! I'm very excited to meet all of you.....this definitely had added sooo much to our cruise. Thanks to all of you. I have a son that will be 7 on the 21st---reason for our trip =) and daughter 15 We are having so much fun planning all this behind DS's back!!! I know it is going to be hard not to say anything on our long trip from Georgetown SC.....I think it will be about 8 hrs, but i really dont know exactly how far it is yet. We are hoping he will be asleep when we get there and we can surprise him when he wakes up thursday morning.... We did a pirate basket for him from Shirley....She is really sweet and helpful. =) I did have one question.....our room is on the starboard side i think....will we be able to see everything from our balcony or are we on the wrong side to see the island as we enter port?

No kids for us either... but We are huge Disney fans as well. We make at least 4 trips from STL to WDW each year. We are DVC. DH is not a big cruiser (Chloe's Mom ;) ) But he is sucking it up for me.... We had terrible seas the last time and he did not do so well. I think there were over 25 foot waves... it even broke out one of the lower cabin windows (the big round ones:scared1: ). We had a Nav. Verandah last time but did not use it, so this time we are going with a Ocean view.

The last time we cruised was in 2004... it seems like forever ago!

Ok hawky,, not sure who has spent more time oneline today.. ME or YOU????

Noahade, If I remember right, at Castaway Cay you will belooking at the family beach of the island, the ship backs in to port there. Also, at Port Canaveral, you will be looking at the "Port" where you enter the ship. Not sure about Nassau, I am thinking that you will be looking at the action, the land side not the ocean side.. anyone else know for sure? We are on th same side as you..:hippie:
