January 2014 discount watch!!

Just booked Poly for Jan 29-2!!!! There weren't any more GV rooms as of last night so it was either SV regular or GV CL. We did CL 2 years ago and LOVED it so we pulled the trigger and booked it again. My TA said they are selling out quickly for this Visa deal.

I'm so excited!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Just called to book the GF for our stay over MLK weekend (:cool1:) and, while checking availability for various resorts, was informed that all room categories at the Poly are sold out with the RO discount.

I highly doubt that the Poly could be sold out after just one day of the Disney Visa promo, so it sounds to me like the Poly was simply not included because of the holiday weekend. Surprising given the construction, although the RO could very likely become available as people cancel, etc.

Just a heads up to those going over MLK weekend!

I was able to use the RO discount to book Poly yesterday for our stay January 17th-22nd (MLK Weekend). It was discounted 35%, saving us over $900!

So odd (but great)! Our dates are almost exactly the same as yours (Jan 16th-21st) and I was told there was nothing. I called around 6pm EST yesterday, so maybe you called earlier? If not, maybe our CM was wrong. Interesting. :confused3

I booked it in the morning around 9-10am.

Thanks for the info. We were torn between the GF and Poly for our trip this January and ended up going with the GF by default. Still not sure which we prefer, so will have to give it some more thought now. :scratchin

Is there any particular reason you chose the Poly? We love the Poly, but nervous about construction and how well suited the resort might be in comparison to the GF if there's cooler weather.

ended up booking a studio at BCV for 1605.00 for six nights, room only discount. Not my first choice, but they only had either, Poly or AKL, for a standard room and wasn't interested in those choices. I'm too cheap to pay an extra $400 for a pool view. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I need help! I changed my reservation yesterday to spd and also booked for my mom and sister. I haven't gotten any emails from Disney with my new reservation info and I booked yesterday at 2 in the afternoon. I really need the confirmation number for the flight for my sister so I can add trip insurance for her through Delta and I can't figure out a way of getting that. Our hotel and ticket reservations are showing up fine on MDE but I need to call and get the flight confirmation number. Anybody know which number I call? Hotel reservations or website support or existing tickets? They have a lot of numbers listed....... Is there anywhere on MDE that would show flight info for a flight booked through Disney?

I booked at noon yesterday and just got my email 5 mins ago.

Did you book r/o or s/p/d?

RO - we have APs so don't need tickets - in fact due to various trips during FD promos we've acquired several sets of tickets that we need to use.

Also we find it cheaper to pay OOP for meals than to pay for the QS dining plan (I haven't calculated it out with the S/D/P version but since we already have tickets that's a moot point). I can feed all 3 of us on onsite for $50 / day total (although in our September trip we averaged $43 / day).

forgot to mention for those that are interested - booked at 8:30 this morning and received my confirmation e-mail around noon today.

It's a personal preference but I love the Poly's ambience. It feels more like a tropical vacation to me. My kids enjoy the quiet pool more than the volcano so even if they are doing work on the main pool, it doesn't bother us. We are big fans of the food at Poly too, especially the Tonga Toast and Dole Whip. The GF just seems to formal and old fashioned for our tastes.

Don't know if my numbers help anyone out there but just pricing for us right now:

2 adults/1 child, 5 nights
value resort quick service dining- $1678.06
regular dining- $1883.91

Time to start saving the pennies! :thumbsup2

Makes sense. Thanks for sharing! :)

island-junkie - Have not seen you posting recently and wanted to thank you. Not knowing a whole lot about the "in's and out's" of booking Disney vacations and what can be avail - I found myself following your posts since they were very helpful. Your guidance is truly appreciated, made our vacation a lot more affordable. :flower3: You were spot on with all your information and so grateful to learn that Thursday was Disney VISA day!!

Also - thank you to Black562 for sharing your knowledge - I know you have a lot of followers on the DIS, and I can understand why :)

Because of the "head's up" from these folks our family was able to save $2200.00 total for the 5 of us. My daughter called yesterday at about 7AM EST (I was working and thank goodness she was working from home that day), she asked about the SPD discount and we are thrilled that we will be able to keep our reservations at POFQ and save $$$

SORRY...I've been sitting on the beach enjoying some sunshine and Daiquiri's in Grand Turk!

I'm glad someone believed what I was saying :rotfl2:!!

We travel often and I know that a dollar saved when booking is a dollar extra to make the trip even more special!!

Congrats on booking & Have a great weekend.

Aww that's so nice of you to say. I just enjoy helping others have a trip as magical as I do.

I hope your trip is full of fun, sun, and laughter!!!

somewhere on here, i'm sure someone has already talked to this, but i'm getting confused, so just thought I would ask.....we have our package booked already. we are staying at POR jan 5-11 with 5 day park tickets and regular dining plan for 4, 2 adults and 2 children. if the offer for the visa holders does open to the general public on October 8 (fingers crossed!!), will I be able to apply it to our reservation? I don't want to have to cancel anything and risk losing our room.

Yes, based on availability of course. Call them! (be prepared for some "down time" though.) :goodvibes

I'm so confused! I called them tonight and was told I had a PIN for both free dining and RO discount for my upcoming stay in early January. Yay!

However, the price the CM calculated for us was $1808 *with free dining*, but if I use the same dates, same resort&room, same tickets and add the same dining plan right now on MDE -- without entering any PIN (thus, no discount) --it comes out to only $1736.60.

I have not entered discounts of any kind on my MDE account, so why would it cost MORE booking using the PIN if dining is supposed to be free? Shouldn't the cost with free dining be the same as if I put this exact room and ticket(s) on MDE without having added any dining plan?

Is the rate currently showing on MDE the undiscounted room rate?

Something is fishy there. I'd definitely call back and run the numbers. Let us know what happens if you can!!!
