January 2014 discount watch!!

So many of you have said you got a pin code. Did you all have to call and find out? Did anyone get email or snail mail?

First off, I would really like to thank all of you for helping this first time visitor through the complicated process of Walt Disney World booking. Also, the encouragement to keep calling Disney back really paid off for me.

I called to apply the VISA discount to my 2 adults 1/5 - 1/10 stay at POP with DDP and 6 day ticket a few days ago and encountered a cast member with no information on the deal, and was disappointed that I only received minimal savings. After reading this thread I believe she only gave me the RO discount. I crunched some numbers and called back today. I was able to upgrade to a Moderate (PO Riverside) for only $50 more for the WHOLE STAY!!!! I had the most friendly/helpful cast member. So this is a big THANK YOU shout out to all you DISers for all the great booking hints and info.

I am still not 100% sure what the S/P/D discount is breaking down to, but if it is helpful to anyone on my new reservation I saved $407 off of rack rate prices listed today on Disney's website, which I calculated to be 17.5% off the package as a whole.

I currently have a 7 night stay at Pop, with a 6 day park hopper and Standard Dining Plan.

If I ask my agent to apply the Stay Play and Dine, could I upgrade to Deluxe Dining at the children's rate if I add an extra day of tickets? I'm really not sure how this works.

No, you would not get the deluxe dining plan at the child's rate, you would pay the difference in cost between the adult regular dining plan rate and the deluxe rate (which is roughly $50 per person per night). I calculated that to upgrade from standard to deluxe plan would be about $500 for 3 adults for 4 nights....a very steep cost in my opinion....

Just got off the phone with reservations. Told her we were looking at the end of January first if February and wanted to know if their were any promotions going on. She to me about the visa one and I told her we didn't have a Disney visa and she told me to watch this next week there will be several pins being released including one for free dining during that time. Hope she's right and hope it helps someone!

So if the Regular dining plan is $19 for kids, and the upgrade to deluxe is $54. It's only a difference of $18 a night over what I am currently paying for the standard dining plan, and includes 3 tables service credits and 2 snacks... That's actually a lot of souvenir cookies and treats to bring home for my niece and nephew. Might be worth doing.

It depends on exactly which time of year you go, but the CM told me last night that to upgrade from QS to DDP is about $20 extra, and to upgrade to DxDP is another $50 or so on top of that, so you're looking at about $69 for upgrading from your free DDP to DxDP. That is only $10 or $11 difference, if you're currently booked in a package with *paid* DDP and no discounts!

Makes sense up upgrade if you have 3 table service meals a day and/or plan to do some of the expensive 2-credit meals on your visit. I just don't find that we have time for 3 table meals a day; lunch is always a quick service or snacks. But, yeah, it seems like a steal! LOL

No - the way I understand it you don't get the deluxe dining plan for the kids rate - you get the standard dining plan at kids rate then on top of that you pay the difference between the standard plan at adult price and the deluxe plan at adult price. Since the deluxe plan is like $102 and the standard is $58 (approx prices) - you pay about an extra $44 per person per night plus the child rate. for a total of roughly $60 per person per night. If you were planning DDP anyway you are actually getting much more food for what you would have paid for regular DDP but if you weren't planning on DDP - it is a steep price for a lot of food that you may or may not get to eat!!

Cool. I've sent an e-mail off to my travel agent with a request to get me a quote for an upgrade to deluxe using the Stay, Play, Dine promo. It would be nice to be able to try out a few extra table service restaurants, and actually be able to get a meal the night of my check-in.

It will definitely be a big price increase. When staying at Pop, only the quick service dining plan is included in the SPD promo. To upgrade from QS to Deluxe, you'll have to pay the child price of QS + the difference of the adult QS price and the adult Deluxe price, which will be considerable.

No harm in checking it out I guess.

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but it is much more than $18 per night for the upgrade. To upgrade you take the difference between the two ADULT plan prices. Off the top of my head it's around $45 or so and on top of that you pay the child price for whatever dining plan you get with your resort tier.

ETA: pointed out already.

True. Also, some people have found it makes more sense for them to upgrade to a moderate resort because then the standard dining plan is included in the SPD promo, so then you only have to pay the difference between standard and deluxe when upgrading the dining. I think it comes out to almost the same price or just a tiny bit more.

Does anyone know if CR is already sold out for the promotion (either SPD or RO) for the end of Jan? I don't have a Visa so can't get a call in until tomorrow morning. I already have a ressie for CR - BLV from Jan. 22 - Jan. 25. I really don't want to have to switch resorts since all our dinning plans have been made based on a stay there. I crunched the number and either discount works ($5 difference between the 2). We're 2 adults and 2 kids doing 4 day passes (no extras) with the DxDP. Getting anxious.

They do not allocate all the promotional rooms for Disney Visa. They might be sold out for cardholders but there may be new rooms available tomorrow.

I have res for jan 12-19 at Pop for 2 adults with regular dinning right now.
If my math is close to being right, and the estimate of $60.00 per person to upgrade from quick service to regular is right. that is $120 per day for me.

The difference in rooms at POP and say CBR is $74.00 per day

I should save $46 per day for a total of $323 by upgrading to CBR.

I hope this math is correct and the S/P/D deal is up in the morning.:cool1:

$15.75 (QS meal plan @ kids price) plus $19.01 (difference between QS adult & regular Dining Plan) = approx. $34.76 per person for the DDP while staying at a Value.

DDP @ CBR is approx. $18.88 per person per night.

Jan 12-19 POP standard room = $815.61 + 8 nights DDP $556.16 = approx. $1371.77 plus park tickets
CBR standard room = $1336.45 = 8 nights DDP $302.08 = approx. $1638.53 plus park tickets

CBR w/ DDP will cost you approx. $266.76 more then staying at POP with DDP.

I just called about 10 mins ago to ask a question about my reservation and the CM said I had a discount available. She went ahead and applied my room only discount of 25% for Pop! :cheer2:

Are the Tree House Villas included in the 35% off promotion? It says Saratoga Springs, but it doesn't specifically mention Tree House Villas.
