January 2013

Ok, using previous years as a guide (and yes, I realize its no guarantee), when do I plan on booking with the best chance of getting free dining? From what I can tell, it will be after marathon weekend but not MLK weekend...am I right?

I'm planning a 10 day stay and would like to use FD (even for some of the trip).

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! It's almost June so I want to have the details ironed out for booking my ADR's in July. I'm just throwing it out there that it would be AWESOME if Disney releases 2013 prices before August! ;)

I was wondering the same thing. We went on January 11-17 2011 and had free dining. Part of our trip fell over the MLK weekend. We are going again over that weekend and waiting to see if free dining comes out and if we should tack on our days before the 18th-21st or after. Our kids are out of school those days.

oh, and before I forget....I'll be away from like June 1 - 12 (or 13th). We're going to WDW and Cocoa Beach.

My guess is that free dining will star Jan 6th- 18th and then again from 27th -into Feb. But as long as you check in on a date that it's offered, it'll carry over through your whole trip. At least that's the way it's been in the past. You never know when Disney is going to go and change things.

I would probably add on a few days before the 18th if you want to make sure that you get free dining. JMO :goodvibes

IIRC FD ended on the thursday of MLK weekend then picked up the following week, for the life of me I can't remember where I saw that though

Have a Disneyriffic time!!! :wizard:

Thank you!! I can't wait to get this trip started!! We have had to reschedule and then cancel so many times that getting this trip in before our January one almost seems like a dream.

Is there anyway to find out if there is anything going on in January like the marathon dates or mighty might football or cheerleading would really like to avoid as much as possible.

I am planning an escape from the central IL winter doldrums for 1/25-2/1. I'm not sure if where we will be staying, yet, but leaning toward Pop or CBR. This will be our first family trip (my 3rd) and everyone's first stay on property (unless I find a super awesome and amazing deal off-property :) ).

The Marathon is the weekend of the 12th so there will be things going on from that Thursday to Sunday.

We will be at the BCV January 18-23rd! So excited!

This is our first ever trip in January, so I'm looking forward to trying something new.. and crossing the fingers for warm weather! :sunny:

I haven't been on here in forever. Phew. I am getting so excited but a bit stressed. But more excited!
:)

Hopefully we'll see January schedule sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. They generally publish to the travel agent website about 6.5 months in advance or so. Or at least they try to!;)

Any word on the January schedule being posted anywhere? I am anxiously awaiting to start my next phase on planning.

:welcome: & added. I just put Pop or CBR, but if you pick one for sure let me know. I'll update it.

:welcome: & added. I agree, I hope the weather is nice in January.

We got back from our WDW trip on the 11th. I thought that trip would have made it easier to convince the DH to go back in January, but it just made it harder. The DSs (especially the youngest) complained about every ride. We even had to convince them that "it's a small world" didn't have a big drop. This was their 3rd trip, so it's not like they haven't been there before and they should have known better. Then there was the rain. It didn't rain our first day there, which was an AK day. The rest of the time it rained, which didn't bother me at the time. It kept it from being so hot and humid. However, I think that's why the DH and I are both sick still. We ended up not doing the Cocoa Beach part of the trip. We were supposed to have gone there on Friday, June 8th, and stayed for 2 days. Since it was supposed to rain, we stayed at WDW for 2 more days. We figured you could do more at WDW in the rain than at the beach. Which let us be there for a night EMH at the MK and it went until 2 AM. We didn't use a single FP while we were there, but the lines weren't too bad. The only really long line we stood in was for Toy Story. Then there were a few that were about an hour, like Kali River Rapids, and Rock 'N Roller Coaster. Then there were others that the wait time was so low, by the time you walked the queue you hardly had any wait like, PotC or Splash Mtn. We did the DlxDDP and the DH says he will not do that again. It seemed like every meal took 3 hours, and it was just too much for him. He thinks he would like the regular DDP better. We stayed at the Pop. Loved the theme. Loved the CMs!!! When we pulled up to the Pop, I just jumped out to check in. I didn't ask the DH where he would be when I got done. I was too excited. It had been almost 6 yrs since our last WDW stay. When I was done checking in, my youngest DS and I walked back out and expected to see our minivan still parked where it had been, but it was gone. I saw a cart with our luggage on it, but no minivan. I scanned the parking lot and no sign of him. We looked inside for him, I was thinking that maybe he parked and they came inside, but he hadn't. We went back out to look for him, and one of the gentlemen offered to walk to parking lot looking for him, since he knew what van he was looking for. He didn't see him, but offered to take us with our luggage to our room. Our youngest DS and I hung out in the room and not too long, the same man brought my DH and oldest DS to our room. We got to swim a couple of times, and loved the main pool. Our room was in a perfect location!! We were in building 6, on the first floor, in room 6113. It's just far enough from the main pool that you don't hear the noise of it, but a short walk to it and the main building. There were only a few things I didn't like. The beds weren't the most comfy. We had more comfy beds at the Holiday Inns we stayed at during other parts of the trip. The bathroom is tiny, like I was surprised the door didn't hit the toilet when you opened it kind of tiny.

My plan now is to convince the DH to do a "do-over" trip for my bday weekend, just the two of us. This way we can do the rides we didn't get to with the DSs. Hopefully it will work, or there will be no WDW in January for me. :sad1:

AWESOME Readytogotodisney, You are the BEST. Thanks for posting, let the next phase of planning beginning.:thumbsup2:banana:

Don't get too excited. It says every day is exactly the same and doesn't have EMH yet...so more waiting before planning. Oh well, thanks for posting it! It's at least better than nothing. :)
