January 2011!!

My trip is getting closer!!! Final payments for the Disney Cruise are due this month. I can't believe it!! I am finally counting down in double digits, much better than the almost 300 days I started with back in the winter. LOL Come on January! :yay:

Hey all! We just found this site and had to sign up! We are going down Jan 16-22. We went last year at Christmas and we are hoping it's not nearly as busy this time we go! Actually staying on site this time, All Star Music, in a family suite! It's going to be me, my wife, my mother in law( her first time going to WDW!) our son(6) and daughter(3). We are really excited!

I'm always amazed when I hear adults who are going for the first time. You'll need to let us know if she cries when she sees the Castle for the first time, it's truly magical. :smickey:

Booked for January! Put down our deposit yesterday, booked my dinner reservations today. This will be the first trip for my husband and daughter (8 years old). princess: We are staying at CR. Can't wait.

This will be (OMG) my 30th anniversary of my first and only trip there. OK, I feel old. Need some WDW to make me feel young again. I can't wait to see it through my daughters eyes! :yay:

:yay::banana::cool1:I bought my airline tickets today so to me, that makes it totally offical! Jan 22-29 at Pop! :cool1::banana::yay:

ptdealer... maybe we will run into each other the last couple days

Just decided to make a January trip today and notice there is free dining but only for select dates, but then I see posters in this thread stating they are getting the free dining for dates not included in the promotion. What am I missing?

I can't believe that we are cutting it this close on planning, I'm usually all planned and ready to go by this time for a trip.

There are ways around it - as long as your arrival is during free dining, then it's valid for the length of your stay (I think up to like 14 days, not sure exactly) so if free dining goes through Jan 13 and you arrive by that day, then you could have it even during the MLK weekend/blocked out days that follow.

Similarly, we're arriving on the 20th, which is a blocked day. We're doing room only the first night (so won't have free dining for that evening) and will pick up our package beginning on the 21st for the rest of the stay at least. Doesn't work as well this way but in general when I post I say we're going the 20-25th and getting free dining and don't specify that we don't have it the first day.

Excellent advice! I wasn't aware of this. Love the boards for all the info we can share! :yay:

Going January 1-8 and staying at CSR.
The kids have an extremely long winter break, and we're taking advantage of that and the free dining. (:
Oh, It's also our first time going in January!

I went for the first time in Jan. in 2010. It was wonderful and the weather was gorgeous!!! I am a normal Dec. or Feb. person so it was a little change. I will be there in Jan. '11 and am hoping for wonderful weather once again. Also stayed at CSR and loved it! The grounds are gorgeous!

just booked flight and package today for 1/28-2/4. Myself, husband, my son who will be a few days shy of 5 and a 20 month old( will be his third trip to DW). Cannot wait!!! staying at pop this time.

New to the boards! We are booked for Jan. 9-15, right between marathon and MLK weekend. I hope we picked a good week! We are using a TA and are taking advantage of the free dining. We had planned to stay OP to save some $$ but now we don't have to worry about the food budget with 4 kids! We were at DW during Christmas week in 2008 and had a blast! Can't wait to see the difference in the crowds.

I'm stressing about what to pack clothing wise. I was planning on our girls wearing layers with short sleeve shirts on top of a long sleeve and bringing a light jacket for everyone. Does that sound like a good plan? I guess I'll play it safe and bring a couple pair of shorts for everyone too!

We are staying at the POP for the first time and our girls are really excited after seeing the pictures of the resort. I have to admit that we are too!

I will welcome any tips from those of you that have been during January and/or stayed at the POP!

Glad to be here!

Just booked CR for marathon weekend (1/6 - 1/12):cheer2:. Never been at this time. Anyone know if Christmas decorations might still be up?

Sooooooooo Happy! Just scored a Boardwalk view 1 br at BWV for 27 - 31 January. It'll just be five days, but also found 69 dollar air fares on a nonstop from Dayton!. Now, if they just put that military pass through again this year, we'll be SET!

I have heard on another site that they are having the military pass again next year. But it will be slightly different, instead of a 4 day base ticket for $99, you get a 4 day park hopper for $138. You should be able to purchase them on January 1st. I hope this helps.

Definitely think layers. I have seen temps in the 40s in the morning and up to 80+ during the day. I always say, layer up to layer down. You just never know what you will get in Florida in Jan.

Enjoy your trip! :thumbsup2
