January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

Has anyone ever heard of Disney offering special discounts in January? I've seen the free dining for certain dates this fall and cheaper rooms for certain dates also. But I have never seen anything come out for January.

Well, Snowbirds . . . since I have a riduclous amount of time on my hands, I actually took some of it to figure out what I'm going to do about my 1/2 marathon registrations that I can't take advantage of in 2010.

I don't have much of an option. Since I can't get a refund, nor can I transfer them, it looks like the only thing I can do is apply them toward the 2011 1/2 marathon (OH, DARN!) So, as soon as I pop this baby out in November, I shall resume my training for the following year!!

So, while you all are planning your 2010 Snowbird trips, I'll be thinking ahead to 2011. My hubby is on board. He hates to waste money LOL

We had a pretty decent special last Jan. They offered buy 4 nights/get 3 free (hotel and park tickets, dining wasn't included in that unfortunately) AND if you went before a certain time (I think March 31 but could be wrong) you also got a $200 Gift card at check in that could be used for pretty much any purchase, tip, snack, alcoholic beverages, etc. Hoping for something at least that good this coming year!!!

I'm here. Everyone must be with family celebrating the holiday weekend. Our holiday yesterday was all rain.

I noticed Southwest posted flights available now through Jan 8. Can't wait until they offer them for the rest of January. We like Southwest.

The summer is going pretty quickly. We've been counting down January since last December. Only about 29 more weeks for us I think. It can't get here soon enough.

We're in the midst here of getting roof estimates. Hate to shell out the $$ for a new roof, but it needs to be done.

It's been a busy weekend here with the usual 4th stuff- cookouts, parades, and fireworks. Hope everyone had a wonderful Independence Day.

We just got back from our weekend! I thought I would have missed alot of updating!

Well, it's official Snowbirds - we are going to take advantage of the PIN we received and are bumping our January 2010 trip up to November 2009.

Monny2AE (Kim) and BellaSoleil (Soleil) have agreed to take over the thread for me and keep you all up to date with the lists, ADR's, January operational updates, etc. So I leave you in good hands!

I wish everyone magical January trips with wonderful weather and low crowds!

Wow, that would be awesome. It's good to know that sometimes Disney does offer the "special offers" in January. I will have to keep a look out for them. I went in January of 2008, but never heard or seen anything about that. Hmmm! I guess I need to do better planning this time. Thanks!

I have been away from the computer for almost a week now. Every year my friends and I build a 4th of July Parade float. We have been doing this for 16 years now. It is all part of our town's celebration. We use a flat bed tow truck and we have built a western covered wagon, a 50's Ed Sullivan Show type float, a pirate ship, Martian's landing at Roswell, Tiki Hut, and on and on. This year we did a Las Vegas theme and built a slot machine that was 8 feet tall. It was huge! Me, my husband and friends are all either musicians or artist so they play their music while riding on the float. I contribute by drawing alot of the designs and painting. Me and the "fan club" ride in a truck behind the float. We use to walk along the parade route, but now we all have so many children, that it is easier to ride in the back of our pick up truck. This year we came in 3rd place in the community division. Over the years we have placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd. It is a lot of fun and a wonderful tradition. My son who is only 2 rides with me. I will post pictures soon if anyone is interested. HOPE EVERYONE HAD A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY WEEKEND!

January for us too! We are on board for Bay Lake Towers (with my parents' and their DVC points LOL) from 1/17-1/22 and then Wilderness Lodge, hopefully concierge (we book tonight!), from 1/22-1/24. We're very excited as it will be our son Thomas' first trip (he will be 19 months then) and our daughter Becca's second trip (she will be just under 4).
This past weekend was crazy here. My husband does professional fireworks and was out in PA picking up the show on Friday, setting up and shooting on Saturday and bringing the truck back to PA on Sunday. Ack! Plus we had some family in town unexpectedly so we had an impromptu bbq on Saturday. And then next Saturday is our own bbq. Stressful!

We've never stayed there but love to walk around in the evenings. I think staying there would be incredible!!

I was thinking it was usually the first week of August...someone correct me if I'm wrong...
