January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

Hi January DISers!

So I am going on my first January trip!!! Actually only my second trip to Disney between the October-February winter months... the other was DL in December 2005!

We're going Jan 17-22 at Animal Kingdom Villas Kidani.

The only ADR we plan on making so far is for Kouzzina but we still have until... October?... to decide, if we add anything on it'll probably be either Biergarten or Garden Grill.

Only 205 days to go!!!!

What's Kouzzina?

I wonder if it will do well. I mean the desserts look wonderful, but when you are on the dining plan, you get so much dessert (and food in general) I couldn't possibly imagine going to a dessert buffet!

We thought about that, too. We figured if we did a 2TS meal, then our MK day would be ADR-less. Lunch at Rays, maybe a hotdog or something later in the evening, then DESSERT! We usually end up leaving MK for dinner because there's no TS's I really want to try, and I always miss SpectroMagic, so that was my excuse to stay at the park. Ohwell, maybe if it does well, they'll keep it!:confused3 If not, I've saved myself the cost!

Okay, sell me on Biergarten. I'm so intrigued by it and it seems like most of you will be eating there on your trips.

What is the food like?
What is so great about it?
What is the atmosphere?
Is it hard to get an ADR?

We are renting DVC points. Does anyone know if Disney has free dining in January or another special, can we still use that special?

Just booked January 16-23 at The Beach Club Villas, 1 Bedroom. We used my grandmother's RCI points and so we only had to pay $200 in the fees! I am so freaking excited, we have never been able to afford a Deluxe and I have always dreamed of staying at the Beach Club!!!! Can't wait for January!

WELCOME to the Snowbirds!

Just wanted to let you Snowbirds know that I am trying to keep up with the thread the best I can - things are a little hectic around here right now (we are moving in 2 weeks), so I apologize if I have missed adding anyone to the list. Don't be afraid to tell me if I have and I will get you added right away! Just post your dates and resort (if you know where you are staying!). Thanks!

:goodvibes

We loved Biergarten! :goodvibes

The food is typical German fare - sausages, beer, salads, sauerkraut, beer, pretzel bread, potato soup, beer, strudel etc! We loved it but it isn't for everyone!

You are seated in the dining room which is displayed as a tiny German village during Oktoberfest! The tables are for eight so you will be seated with another group. Again, this isn't comfortable for everyone, but we lucked out! We sat with a very friendly family from Louisiana and had a great time!

ADR's are fairly easy to get - at least I thought so! As a matter of fact, I believe they were accepting walk ins on the day we had lunch there! The entertainment starts at about 1:15pm and is scheduled about every hour for the remainder of the day. It is great! Yodeling, long horn playing, bell ringing and accordians and dancing! VERY FUN!

We loved it and are definitely planning a return visit!

:thumbsup2 They really were a VERY kind family! We swapped life stories and talked about each others trips so far and had a great time! :) Definitely made the meal for us! I think if we had not had such a great experience we would not be going back! :goodvibes Y'all are good peeps!

I second everything Kim said! It's one of our favorites and is a must for every trip! Our son just loves it -including being able to dance with the band!!

Not all of the tables seat 8, though. This past trip we had a table for 4 - so we were all by ourselves.

we wanted to throw our name on the list

Jan 24th - 30th
Pop Century

Any idea when we can get prices from Disney?

This is our first trip in Jan..most time we go later in the spring or fall so I am hoping the lines will be non existent :)

:welcome: We'll be at Pop the same time! If I remember correctly, the rack rate prices came out around August, but the "specials" came out early November. Last year we got the buy 4 nights get 3 free, plus you got a $200 Gift card when we got there! It was a great deal, so I think most of us are hoping for at least that or free dining!!! (Or both! :dance3:ha ha! A girl can dream!! :confused3

I was very leary of eating here because I don't like sausages or most things-pork. But my hubby's family is Austrian, so I didn't get a say. I was very pleasantly surprised. I could make a meal on the salads (the tomato salad is to-die-for), the breads and the desserts!!! And the mood is just absolutely a blast! We've been 4 times now and it's on our list every year!
Funny story-the first year we took Drew he was 2 and scared of everything. He was calling the German CM's farmers (except it was fah-mer). He was whining "I don't yike the fah-mers!" He doesn't like for us to remind him of this every trip!!!

i dont like having to wait till Nov to get tickets, room, and adr's..
i hope they release a special sooner than that

Hilarious! Now that's a story to tell when his girlfriends start coming around!:scratchin

Here, Here!!! I second that motion!:jester: (There's no judge smilie so I figured a jester would do- it's fits us crazy Snowbirds better anyhow!) I don't think we'll ever see free dining since it's never been offered in Jan but I'll take a 4/3 deal again for sure! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a great weekend! I have no big plans which is kind of nice for a change. :bored:
