January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

I was surprised that we couldn't get our first choice of rooms/dates. I didn't think January would be that busy. (My husband thought I was crazy for calling this early to book.) So, we made some minor changes to our room preferences to match availability. Now I'm so excited! I haven't been to the World in January since I was in high school. Now I just have to hope we don't get snowed in. :yay:

We will be at SSR Jan. 11-15!! I can't wait! We usually go every other year, but last year we took 3DD's and DMom...horrible flights with Delta, got vouchers, so flying for free this time. Have our DVC points, free flight!! Yeah another trip to WDW!! I am already stressing about ADRs~~

Glad to hear of your good report from the Doctor, Kazooie01. And glad you'll get to go to Disney between treatments. My Dad did the same thing last year: scheduled a trip to WDW between rounds of chemo. He and my mom had a great time. Hope you and your family do too.

I'd keep calling to check on your room you had as a first choice. This will be our fourth January in a row and we have booked as late as November without a problem. I think (at least it seems like) they keep "opening" up blocks of rooms right along. Good luck!!:thumbsup2

I got that PIN too. We are seriously considering moving our trip up to November. :guilty: Sorry Snowbirds! Free dining is just such a huge savings for us.

And then I got another PIN yesterday for 35% off any moderates, but the dates are only good through Oct 3rd. I can't believe I am getting so many PINS. That is the 4th one this year I think. I never used to get any.

You should definitely call. The PINS are usually good for any party size and most resorts! :wizard:

I agree with the savings and perhaps switching to the fall. Although I love Jan!
I want to call but dd is home and this is a surprise trip! I haven't told anyone but you fellow disers!

This trip planning has had the most changes ever!

Hi guys. Just got back from the Doctors and wanted to say hello. I got some really good news. After my first two cycles of chemo they did a scan yesterday to see if we were making any progress, the scans came back showing a decent reduction in the size of the cancer in all locations. It was such a relief to have tears of joy for once (been plenty of the other kind over the last few months). We're not out of the woods yet but at least we found the path!!!

The best part is he said I would be okay to travel to WDW for our 10th Anniversary trip at the end of July! (I planned it between treatments for a reason:rolleyes1).
Joni I'm so happy you got some positive news!!!:goodvibes Praying your "path" stays clear from now on!:woohoo:
I will be heading down to WDW with my husband and son in January. Our vacation is January 22-30. We love going during this time of year, because the attendance is low and the weather is perfect. Not too hot not too cold. We are from Maryland and we drive to WDW. We leave MD around 7:00pm and drive "straight on through until morning". I'm lucky that my husband loves to drive, because I only have to drive through 1 state and that is Georgia. He drives the rest of the way himself. It's nice driving through the night, because there aren't many cars on the road at all. My son will sleep for most of the way.

As I was reading through the boards I noticed that someone said there is a gymnastics event going on. I hope it doesn't effect our resort. We are staying at Coronada Springs. I was in Disney once when there was a huge Cheerleading competition going on and it was horrible. The kids basically took over our resort.

Anyway, glad to be a part of the Disboards and I am anxiously awaiting January 2010!!!!

Hi neighbor! I'm from MD too (way up in Cecil Co:thumbsup2). We drive too but we've never attempted to drive all night though. I don't think I'd be able to stay awake. We usually get up and leave super early, drive until we at least get over the FL border and stay a night. The next day we're well rested and only have a short drive to the World! We're pretty much going the same dates too..small world!

That's great news!!!! Thank you for keeping us updated!

Add us to the list of driving people. Our drive will be about 14 hours and we are splitting it into two days. I'm actually excited about driving to DW this time (not so excited about the driving home part, though).

Yeah the driving home part was HORRIBLE last time!!!!!! I still have nightmares about it. I made sure for the ride down they had new stuff and snacks to make it easier but didn't think to do that for the ride home. :headache:This time I'll be more prepared and save some special treats for the ride home too. Lesson learned!

YAY!!! :yay: That is GREAT news Joni!! I'm so happy to hear that things are improving - here's to more good news as time goes on and a wonderful trip to Disney!!

We will be driving to WDW in Dec. We take two days (sometimes 3) usually. This trip we're breaking up into 2 1/2 I think. We'll leave after work/school on Thursday and stop about 6-8 hours into it. Usually we get past Chicago, weather permitting. Then drive a really long day and get to Georgia or into FL. Then the last day is just a few hours more and we get to WDW around lunchtime. It stinks! I'd rather fly. The girls and I think we'll fly home, because our cruise ends on a Sunday and I'd like them to be in school Monday since they'll miss a week already. We'll see if we can get decent one-way prices home.

Have a magical trip Meghan and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
:cake::bday:

I want to get a PIN code!!! :rotfl: Actually I got something even better... my DSIL won 3 years of DVC points and she has asked us to go with her in December!! So we get to stay at OKW in a 2 bedroom villa for FREE!!! I've always wanted to see the Christmas decorations. Now just keeping my fingers crossed for some good flight prices! :goodvibes

Great news! Have a great July trip! :goodvibes

On the topic of driving to WDW, in July we are driving down for the first time (with the kids). It should take 18-20 hours depending how psychotic my husband is feeling ;). We have some of our good friends going with us so we'll be able to break the driving up into pretty short shifts. We plan on flying down in January again (we luckily seem to find good rates then).

So it will be quite the adventure in July, turn on the DVD player, pop in a Disney movie and get me a pillow!:thumbsup2

(and BIG thanks for all the well wishes!)

Congrats on your awesome news!! That's wonderful for you!!:grouphug:

Good luck driving down in July! We pulled our camper from York County, PA down to Ft Wilderness in 2007. I wish you a very very SAFE drive. I don't think we'll ever drive again....although getting our camper slammed into by a drunk driver on I-695 right in Baltimore at 3am wasn't such a good start to a vacation!! Luckily no one was hurt...and after 2 rolls of duct tape and 2 hours on the side of the road with police, we were on our way. Just use caution...and remember.....BE SAFE!!!

Wow! Yes, we need to think about the ride home, too! That would have totally slipped my mind.

Please let us know how the July drive goes. I could use some encouragement in that department.

Hope you are having a wonderful day!!!

Gymnastics is scheduled for Jan. 22-24th. We've decided to stay CBR partly for that reason. Geez I'm getting old. I used to be a part of those groups of annoying giggly girls and now I'm willing to pay for another resort just to avoid them. Gotta go yell at the teens in my neighborhood to get off my lawn and turn down that dang music.

Just thought I'd throw this out there for those of you staying at CBR. We were there during this competition this year. They had a HUGE number staying at CBR. They even had huge tents set up on the property for different things. Since CBR is so big, I didn't really notice an impact anywhere except the food court. It definatly got more crowded with girls on cell phones texting while they walk EVERYWHERE! The emphasis there is that they really weren't paying attention where they were going. Just an FYI.
