January 2010. . . Anyone else going???

They will tell you that the busses start one hour before park opening, but they usually start earlier just to get people to their ADR's. I have never had trouble with that. Just be out at the bus stop extra early.

Thank you thank you thank you! We're making our ADR's on Monday and have some early ones so I just wanted to be sure!

We were there the last week of January in 08 and in 09 (no football that week so I have my DH's full attention ) I have to say that we did notice a difference in the two years, the parks were much more crowded in 09 and most of the people I chatted with while on line were there on the 4/3 deal.
That being said it was by no means 'crowded' wait times were 20-30 min where in 08 they would have been 10-15 minutes. We still got to do plenty and it is our favorite time to go.:goodvibes

Also keep in mind that 4/3 or 5/2 deal just isn't as good as last year. NO GIFT CARD! It may not attract quite as many people this year. :confused3

Thanks! I'm hoping it wont be too bad. This will be the first trip with a baby so we have to slow it down no matter what. I'm thinking he won't know the difference between being in line and actually being on a ride so for him it's all the same. There will be 3 adults and we were hoping to take turns sneaking in a few of the thrill rides but we'll see how that goes.

Looks like several of us will be at Mama's for the package on Jan 7th. See you all there!!! I am so excited. :cool1:

Dining Plans if all works out - Jan 7 Mama Melrose's Fantasmic Package, Jan 8 breakfast at Chef Mickey's & dinner at Rose and Crown, Jan 9 breakfast at Boma & dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse, Jan 10 dinner at Tony's, Jan 11 breakfast at Cape May & dinner at Le Cellier, Jan 13 breakfast at Boma, Jan 14 'Ohana, Jan 15 Yachtsman Steakhouse. I am very sad there will be no puffed french toast at the CP. It is my favorite breakfast spot. Has anyone heard if they are going to have character dining in one of the other MK restaurants while the CP is closed for refurb?

Nothing OFFICIAL has been said yet. :) Speculation and rumour suggests that while CP is closed LTT will have it's origianl characters back for DINNER time ONLY! :upsidedow If it is poohbear you want, the closest place to find him would be at 1900 Park Fare. I believe He and a buddy or 2 show up there at breakfast time! :goodvibes

Just booked and only Fantasmic package left on the 7th is Hollywood n Vine.

Good luck to everyone

Awesome. We were planning to book LTT while we were there, that would be a pleasant surprise!

Just got an email from the StitchKingdom website that Spash Mountain will be closed 1/3/10 - 2/27/10. I have one little boy who is very dissapointed.

Me too. This will be our kids first visit to WDW and out of all the many rides, shows, etc. my 4 year old son has seen in all of our planning materials he most wants to ride Splash Mtn.

We will be there...we weren't planning to go so soon..but what the heck!!
We will be there Jan 24-31 in a standard room Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas..Kidani.
We are very very excited...can't wait to be back there. My son loves the water splash zone at Kidani..he is that much older this year so I am sure he will love it that much more.
too bad about the splash mountain though..we like that as well.
Louise

Hey, I'm gonna pull up a chair :) We'll be headed to AKL at the end of January. I look forward to chatting with you all!

And I just saw the Splash Mtn news too and I am SO BUMMED. It is one of my top 5 rides and it was closed last time we went to DWD too!!!! (early winter 2008) I was really looking forward to my kids getting to ride this time :sad1: This in conjunction with the CP closing :sad2:--let's have that be all ;)

January 8-17th. Kids finally tall enough for Splash Mountain :cool1:. Then I read your posts :sad1: Closed. How dissappointing. I love being in the top of the mountain and hearing the music a looking around and then bam...down you go. So excited for the kids dd 6 (almost 7) ds 4 to experience it. Oh well. A reason to go back!

Oh Come On WDW!!! First Crystal Palace now Splash Mountain.. I haven't been to WDW in 15 years and my biggest memory is being able to get on Splash mountain even though my mom was hoping that I would be too short :lmao: I can still remember the look on her face!! Darn...

Hello!

Anyone up for January 2010???

So anyone who wants to join in the fun and become a January 2010 Snowbird, please jump right in!!

Just sent my confirmation to book January 2010. Our first trip not in the middle of summer. I so hope the weather is good. We are going for our 30th wedding anniversary. :woohoo:

So We will be at CSR from Jan 16th and leaving Jan 24th. :cheer2:

So our trip just went from three of us (myself, DH, & DD8mo.) to a Grand Gathering. We are now going with my MIL & FIL, SIL & her husband, BIL, and my GPIL?? (Grandparents inlaw) haha. Luckily I love my in laws. In fact I hate using the words in laws because they really are just family to me. We are going to get a 2 bedroom villa and a studio. My husband and I will still be going for the full week while the rest of them join us for the last 4 nights. We are debating between BLT and AKLV. I can't decide and they are leaving it all up to me. I love the convenience of BLT but I love the themeing and food at AKLV so much more. I think AKLV is doable with a 1 year old, especially with 9 adults on hand to help, and doubt we'll stay there when we have more little ones with us.

I've just spent an hour at 2am (CT) awake trying to make online ADRs. Yesterday my reservation # would pull up just fine. NOW...not so much. I kept getting the dreaded E..... code. I cancelled my cookies, restarted my computer, tried everything and no luck. I was able to make one ADR for 1/7/10, but nothing for the rest of our 10 day trip. So I guess I will be re-setting the alarm and getting up in 3 more hours to call in. For a company that makes magic happen they sure can mess up the magic when it comes to getting the reservations made! You would think they could get a simple dining reservation system to work properly. Wish me luck on my call in!

After a mostly sleepless night trying to use the online ADR system I was able to call this morning and get the ADR's that I really wanted! :thumbsup2

Here is our list:

Sat Jan 9 10:35am Ohana's Lilo & Stitch Breakfast (after DSIL runs in 1/2 marathon)
Sun Jan 10 12:50pm Sci Fi HS
Mon Jan 11 11:00am Chef Mickeys
Wed Jan 13 8:00am Donalds Safari Breakfast
Fri Jan 15 5:00pm Ohana's

I'm sure going to miss those Princess meals this trip since we are traveling with grandsons...but our next trip will be with a granddaughter again!

Good luck to all of you Snowbirds making your ADR's soon.
