January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Is it 90 days, per day or 90 days from your arrival date? I've never called on the exact date before. I'm nervous!

Today is 90 days!!! Time for ADR's.... My DD called in at 7 a.m., got "all circuits are busy" for 20 minutes, and then was on hold for 85 minutes. She finally got through, a total of 2 hours. BUT the good news is, we got all of the reservations we wanted!

We are doing Le Cellier (our favorite) once for dinner and once for lunch, Biergarten, The Wave and Kona Cafe. Nothing new this trip, just old favorites!

Now we are REALLY excited for our upcoming August trip!

Grats on getting all your ADR's. I know that can be as exciting as going on the trip. When we were planning a December 2008 trip. I got up early and started dialing 5 minutes before they opened the phone lines, to allow for a difference in their clocks and mine. I got every ADR that I wanted.. CRT for perfect firework time, Chef Mickey's for breakfast, and Le Cellier at Prime Time dinner time. I would look at the ADR's everyday b/c I was so amazed at how easy it had seemed. Then we had to move the trip. Honestly I was more upset about loosing all my perfect ADR's than having to move the trip.

What time can you start calling in for ADR's?

For some reason I'm thinking 7 AM Mickey Time (Eastern Standard Time), but I may be wrong.

I must convey my frustration. All of my professors were to have submitted my grades by today. Instead, none of my grades are posted.
It doesn't really matter that much. My grades were such before my finals that I could not fail any of my classes, but it's frustrating nonetheless.

In other news...I tried to convince my Mom that we should get a rental car for our trip in July, but had no luck. I never should have told her about the bus from the airport to Hotel Plaza Blvd.:sad2:

What are you going to school for danceintherain? My DH got his Bachelor's in Network Communications Management. His first Master's (that he just got) is in Information Systems Management. He is now working on his MBA. My DH has had professors like that. They would go past the date to post grades, meanwhile we checked the online gradebook everyday.

We rented a convertable when we went for our 5th yr wedding anniversary and I loved it. We went out one night just to drive around the Orlando area. I would love to rent one for our upcoming trip to go to Kennedy Space Center

I just got my Bachelor's in Sociology (assuming I passed my classes)
I plan to eventually get a Master's in Library Science. I probably should have went ahead and applied for the Fall, especially since I'm planning on getting it entirely online, but I feel like I need a break from school for a bit.

Unfortunately, this means I need to find a job. The search has not been very lucrative, though I've been picky thus far about where I have applied. Now it's time for me to apply just about everywhere, though I'm holding any kind of food establishment out as my very last resort.

It's 90 days per day. If you stay in a Disney resort, then you get 90 days + 10 which gives you the benefit of being able to make ressies in one phone call (90 days before your arrival day), unless, I suppose, you stay longer than 10 days.
Thus, if you plan on getting ADRs for the more difficult restaurants it is better to call 90 days before the first day of your trip, and attempt to get them for later on.

At least that's how I understand it. We used a TA for our Honeymoon, and I've only made ressies within the 90 day mark.

I can't wait until they open online ADRs to the General Public, because to me it seems simpler then trying to convey over the phone which ADRs would be most acceptable.

Hi everyone. We're 36 days away from my birthday trip! I'm so excited!:yay: I'm so happy that May and the beginning of June are always busy times for me. It's making time FLY by!!! But, I need to put my happiness on hold for a few days. My grandfather passed away on Thursday. We're heading into Syracuse today for the wake and the funeral is tomorrow morning. It's been a difficult couple of days, but I'm getting through it. Anyways...I hope that you all have a terrific Tuesday and a wonderful Wednesday! :goodvibes Be back in a few days.

Yep, that sounds about right.

I just think it is going to be harder for everyone to get through and get what they want at the 90 day mark than it ever was at the 180 day mark. At 180 days you weren't calling at the same exact time as everyone else who was arriving on your date because a lot of people who would end up arriving the same day as you hadn't even planned their vacations yet. So a lot of people would be calling later - after they actually finalized their plans and so on. But now at 90 days most people know they are going and have all of their plans made, so that means more people calling on the same day for ADR's.

Does that make sense??? :rotfl:

Has anyone ever done the breakfast at O'Hana? Can you give me details?

We went to Ohana for breakfast in Jan 2009. It was our last full day breakfast!
We had a great table - castle view, the restaurant was sunny and bright! The food was typical breakfast food, served family style, which was nice- no buffet line to stand in. The juice was yummy!
To be honest I was disappointed with the character interaction :confused3 maybe we were quiet because it was our last day? I am also disappointed with my photos, the characters didn' t really stand and pose for me to capture that perfect shot! They do a parade with the maraccas, which was cute, poor Pluto was to lead our area of the restuarant and the kids wanted Stitch, do DD and I gladly went and followed Pluto!
I love Mickey in his Hawaiian ensemble!
I am glad we went, I don't know if we would go back.
We also went for dinner here and I wasn't impressed :confused3
Just My Honest Opinion.

:flower3:Meghan, sorry to hear about your Grandfather. Know that we are praying for your family---be careful in your travels.

soleil~
We did breakfast at O'Hana in january. I don't know if you remember, but Gracie had been really sick up until we left for our trip--she did pretty good that week, but that Friday night, Mike picked up the virus and she relapsed. so, that Sat. she had to miss the breakfast--which made me sad for her, as this is one of the best Character meals we've had.

Lilo & Stitch were super-duper!!! They interacted with Saylor and Kipper better than any characters over most of our trips---EVER. Lilo acted like she had a crush on Saylor and kept trying to get him to notice her. She even "kissed" him and got him to "kiss" her back on her huge 'ole head!!! HA!! It was so hysterical. She actually got herself cracked up and laughed out loud. Which I have never heard any of the characters in full costume do. she grabbed her mouth and turned her head to try to stop laughing. We just loved her. And Stitch....he was soooooo short!!! We were surprised by how funny his antics were. He had the us just as tickled as Lilo did. The food was pretty good---I am not a pork eater, so all the sausage, bacon, and such I didn't touch! The breakfast potatoes were quite salty, but they were good--just eat 'em sparingly. But those little waffles were awesome!!! The eggs were pretty good too. I would def. say Belle would like it----if you don't think those type of characters are gonna be scary to her. Like I said...Lilo's head is pretty big!!!!! Hope this helps you!! Oh---they did a picture for the family too--my boys didn't want to do it without Gracie, so we skipped it.

Has anyone ever done the breakfast at O'Hana? Can you give me details?

We went for breakfast one day last May. We had a bright and early ADR - maybe 7:30ish. . . We were the 4th family to be seated. Our waitress told us we had an excellent spot and would be the second table the characters each went to. We had a blast! The food was good, the service was good, the characters were great, the kids enjoyed the parade around the restaurant, the atmosphere was great, and we were to MK before opening!

OT: if any of you have kids that are interested in Legos, namely today Mars Mission, let me know (PM) as we are cleaning out Kipper's toys today!! He is a Lego maniac and has more Legos than bedroom!! We are going through them today to see exactly which sets he has---this should take ALL DAY!!!
:rotfl:

Thanks everyone! I think we are going to try OHana breakfast instead of Chef Mickey's. Since Mickey Mouse will be there, I'm happy. That was my main concern. We are going to do it on our last morning before we leave town and I wanted Belle to see Mickey one more time before we left. She all of a sudden is very interested in Lilo. (Maybe because she's a little girl, too? Maybe because our dogs are Lulu and Lola and Lilo sounds like them? Who knows.....)

She asked me this morning - "i go see lee-lah and titch at disney?" The idea clicked and I thought it sounded like fun.

BTW.... Can I get some quick prayers? We have an offer on the townhouse. I'm just wanting to give in and get it over with, but G is being very stern about it.

It's a really sweet, young fireman and his fiance'. I just want to give them the house so they have a great place to start off their marriage.:goodvibes
