January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

So I was talking to my DH and I was able to convince him with some Disney math to book two trips. This is my thinking....My DH said we can only go in January if they have a good offer (4/3 or free dining). However if we wait until they announce it, it will more than likely be past the day we can make our ADR's. We are looking at arriving on January 8, 2010 and the 90 day out mark to make ADR's is October 10th. I told him what we should do is wait until August when they release the 2010 package prices, then put $200 on a trip in January and $200 on the April/May trip. Then on the 45 day out mark if they haven't annouced any good January deals, we will cancel that trip and have any money that has been paid on that reservation moved to the other one. If they announce a good deal for January then we will just cancel the April/May trip and apply the money to the January trip.

Since summer is upon us and my brain is tired of fretting all things Disney, I thought it would be fun to have a QOTD.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SUMMER TREAT (snack)?

Are we allowed to mention adult treats? While I do love berries & watermelon & other summer fruits (and ice cream, but up here we eat ice cream at any time or temperature :rotfl:), my favorite is to sit on a hot day with a cold Tanqueray & tonic. :drinking1

Love that Disney math! :teacher: I did something similar when I booked my September & December trips. I haven't cancelled December yet; maybe I'll get a good enough AP discount to make it work! One can only hope. :worship:

Sounds perfectly reasonable!

letthewookiewin first love the name, tag & aviatar we are huge star wars fans

2nd would it be possible for you to work every other sat or maybe in the evenings once or twice a week? Speaking from retail experience those are the hardest hours to find people to work. Most businesses would jump at an offer to have someone volunteer to work then. Would hubby be able to be home with the kids then? Just a suggestion.

Sounds just complicated enough to be a Disney plan.

Hi everyone, hope you all are having a good weekend.

I just finished my first five days of chemo today. I have some testing Wednesday but no additional treatments for two weeks (woo-hoo!!). So far, I’m just very, very, tired. My bones are very sore, some mild nausea too. Still "got" all my hair (of course that will probably change) and the medicine they are giving me to combat the side effects seem to be helping.

My Husband has been super; he has been stuck with all the housework, taking care of the kids, and Disney planning (which he loves) without so much as a single complaint. I guess I'll have to keep being nice to him.;)

Well, got to go. I'm glad you guys have been chatty; I love ready up on how everyone is doing and all. Take care and talk to you all again soon!:thumbsup2

SO glad you updated us and I'm happy you get a little breather for a while! Get some rest and take care.
You know, I've totally forgotten about that movie. This summer is such a good summer for movies. Demons & Angels, Terminator, Transformers, Harry Potter, Public Enemy (Johnny Depp and Christian Bale), Ice Age, G.I. Joe, I could go on. I think we'll be spending our summer in the theaters. Luckily this time I see Transformers I won't have just left the foot doctor with my big toe in a bandage b/c I just had my toe nail removed b/c I had broken my toe and not treated it until it was too late to save the nail. Long story, but that taught me to never kick my DH in the shin when I was mad at him.:lmao:

I completely forgot about Ice Age 3!!! Definitely a great summer for movies! Harry Potter has been on my calendar for months now. I'm one of those dorks that read all the books and loved them.:rolleyes1

Don't forget if you are a Disney Rewards junkie like me that you can save your movie stubs and earn points.

Anyone else participate in the the Movie Rewards? I just redeemed some for the first issue of the D23 club magazine. I'm still not sure what the D23 is all about though or if it's worth the $$$ but this way I get the first issue for free!:yay:

Only a DISer would have a plan THAT complicated!!!

Thanks for the update, Joni! :flower3: We're all cheering for you. :cheer2:

Red--have a great trip! I'd love to do that some day.

Today is 90 days!!! Time for ADR's.... My DD called in at 7 a.m., got "all circuits are busy" for 20 minutes, and then was on hold for 85 minutes. She finally got through, a total of 2 hours. BUT the good news is, we got all of the reservations we wanted!

We are doing Le Cellier (our favorite) once for dinner and once for lunch, Biergarten, The Wave and Kona Cafe. Nothing new this trip, just old favorites!

Now we are REALLY excited for our upcoming August trip!

2 hours!! I am really dreading this whole 90 days thing. I wish they would go back to 180.

Sounds like you got some awesome ADR's though!

I don't know if 180 days would make a difference. I think it is just that the first day of free dining would be crazy 90 days out or 180 days out. Just plan on taking a day off from work or school or kids or whatever to hang on hold forever.
