We are hoping to change our April/May 2010 trip to an early January 2010 trip if we can get a good code. I would love to be at WDW for my DS10's and my birthdays. His is January 8th and mine is the 10th.

My DS's know that we are going but they think we are going in September. I could never keep an entire trip a secret, but I'm hoping I can fudge the dates and suprise them that way. I would love to pick my DS's up from school on my youngest DS's birthday early and tell him "Happy Birthday, we going to WDW."

WELCOME to the Snowbirds! Hope you are able to move your trip up to January! Hope you are able to surprise your kids! We surprised our kids on Christmas morning with our January trip this year!! It was fun to surprise them, but it was tough keeping the secret!

Gosh, with all the talk of starting a new 2010 Snowbird thread, I'm not sure how much longer I will be able to wait before adding my name to the list! Our trip to WDW in Jan 2010 is still VERY UNofficial as of right now! We're talking about it a lot but kinda afraid to commit to a ticker in the case that it soesn't work out financially! We are saving as many of our pennies as we can right now! Saving and hoping and praying and planning! I really want to be a 2010 Snowbird!

Hey Snowbirds!

Busy time of year here at the school! Book fairs, field trips, field day, PTO meetings, plays/programs, etc. . . But as Soleil said, we will be getting the new 2010 Snowbird thread up and running soon! I'm not sure what we will talk about all summer being that we won't have park hours or be able to make ADR's until October, but hopefully we can make the time pass by quickly!

You're such a funny funny girl!!! Us? having trouble coming up with something to talk about? I know Disney won't release anything of importance for a while but that won't slow the obsession!

I'm already working on going over my packing list from last January. I'm crossing my fingers that dd will be fully potty trained and I can take diapers off the list! I'd love to pack her some cute Disney undies instead

Girl, that's an awesome incintive!!!!! My dd actually completed her potty training when we were there...I gave her pull-ups at night, just because we were away from home...not once did that baby mess it up!!! She's never peed in the bed since!!!!

I am trying to see how much we would need to put aside each week between now and Jan for our trip. We are about 33 weeks til the first of Jan. $10 a week would only be $330---$20 a week would be $660--- I feel some garage sales coming on!! We have waited now here til it's toooo hot! If it's not in the next few weeks, gonna have to wait til fall! Well, also, I am going to figure up over the summer if we really need to do DDP this time. My middle one just turned 10, and that puts him on adult menu. He doesn't eat as much as my older son, so I am gonna have to crunch #s. That is a big part of the $$$-I don't know if it justifies him being on it this time. In a year or so, it definitely will, but not sure about now. I know if we didn't do it this time, Gracie would definitely be able to split her meals with me. That kid doesn't eat much!! Well, something for us to work on over the summer for sure!! do any of you have kids 10 that would cause you to not do the DDP?

Disney Mommy 3 one way that I can up with extra spending money is that I would pay myself to not buy stuff. For example instead of buying Dr. Peppers, I would see what the cost was that week when I went grocery shopping and put that amount in our Disney pig. Then if we went into a gas station and the kids got the kids drinks while I got gas, I would pay in cash and then pay the Disney pig for the Dr. Pepper that I didn't drink.

I have a 10 yr old (hopefully he will be turning 11 on our trip), and an 11 yr old. The 10 yr old it just really depends. Some week he eats like a bird and others it's like all he wants to do is eat. The 11 yr old, well that boy can eat. Most of the time he can out eat me, but you can't tell it to look at him. My DH wants to do the dining plan, b/c he likes the idea of not having to worry about food cost while on the trip. We would like to do the Deluxe DDP and know it will be way more that we can eat. There are just so many TS places that we want to try this time, and the only way to do it is with the DlxDDP.

G asked that I run to the Circle K (store) to pick up an Icee (frosty beverage) for he and the repairman. With Icee's in hand I head to the counter. I hand over our debit card to the clerk. I hear him say, "You look pretty today"

I coyly reply, "Thank you!"

"For what?" He asks, confused.

"For telling me that I look pretty."

"I asked you if you wanted debit or credit."

OUCH!!!!!

That's a good idea about the DPs!! I really want to put any money that I can save up(separate from savings acct.) to flying out of our local airport. I really like doing it that way....especially on the day we return-it's so much easier driving in 45 minutes after that long week, than the trip in from Houston--traffics lighter too. And that parking fee!!! Geez, we payed a lot last time, at the other airport it's free!!! It's usually about $100 a ticket more to fly from here, so if I can save it here or there, it'll be worth it!!!
We love the TS places too, but I like the DDP because if you do more than one a day, it takes up a lot of time.

BellaS~ That's hilarious!!! ha! He probably thought"Wow!!She thinks I'm hot"!! Did he act like he thought YOU were flirting, or did it just confuse him? That totally sounds like something I would do!! I used to work at the bank as the drive-thru teller, well when some of those cars are runnin' you can't hear hardly anything. Several times I thought they said one thing and really said another. HUMILIATION!!!

So last night I went to the library and checked out Pride & Prejudice (the really long one with Colin Firth)
Logan was going running, and I needed something to do while he was out.
Well... when he got back from running I started getting dinner together (he can't eat before he runs) while he was taking a shower. Well, he sat down and was watching the movie.
First he was commenting on how the movie only looks at the wealthy side of 19th century England, but then he started laughing.
It was at the part where Lizzie rejected Mr. Collins and her mother is trying to get her father to marry him. Mr. Bennett says, "from now on you must be a stranger to one of your parents. Your mother will never see you again if you don't marry Mr. Collins, and I will never see you again if you do."

Mr. Bennett is one of my favorite characters of all time (literary or otherwise). I was happy Logan shared my interest.
Somehow I doubt he'll sit down with me to watch the rest of the movie though.
It's ok...I refuse to watch many war movies with him.

Well, I have to admit that I'm a traditionalist - my favorite version is still 1940 with Greer Garson and Laurence Olivier (I know - the youngsters among us are saying, "Who??" ). It, too, has that line of Mr. Bennett's in it; I'd be willing to bet that it's in Ms. Austen's original (which of course I never read!).

It is in the book.
I'll have to try and track down that version of it. Thus far I am not too impressed with the Colin Firth version. They've changed it from the book a little too much, and I'm not sold on the people they cast for various roles.
I like the Kiera Knightley version better, even though it's shorter.
I love Persuasion though. It's probably my favorite of Jane Austen's novels, and they did a decent job with the one movie I've found.
I also watched the Gwyneth Paltrow version of Emma recently, and I loved it! For some reason I don't think I had ever seen it before.

Summer???? What's that? We're supposed to get snow here tomorrow! It is still dipping down into the minuses over night and we've been having a really brutal wind blowing stuff around! It is supposed to be gusting up to 70 miles an hour tomorrow night!

ANYWAY... my favourite summertime treat is a Tim Horton' Iced Cappucino - French Vanilla flavor! mmmmmmmm

Hmm... I'm not a big snacker, but whenever it gets really hot I start craving an ice cold lemonade.
Maybe I should start squeezing my own, and calculating the perfect sweet to sour ratio.
