January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Maybe you should become a real snowbird like the retired folks in MN. Stay up here from May - October and then head south for the winter (yes winter is November - April!)

Girl, I would love it! I know every year starting at this time, that I am gonna have something! This week I have already had the beginning of a sinus thing. Chills/fever/sore throat on Sunday night, then headache today. (Yesterday now!!) My nose is all stopped up and my throat is killing me....can't sleep.I have to say the older I get, the less sinus/allergies I get. As a kid it was a horrible unending cycle. Get over one thing, get something else. I even had an inhaler for a while in my early teens. The heat and the pollen/mold count that rise in the late spring and summer here are what really kill me. I would love to move more north permenantly. I wouldn't care about the snow if I wasn't defeating grass/pine trees!! I live in the Piney Woods of SouthEast Texas and they are one of my highest allergens!!!! Can you believe that? Irony. That I think is what I will ask the Lord when I get to heaven!! Why let a girl be allergic to grass and pine trees and smoke....then place her right in the midst of it? Oh well, He has a plan!!!!

I have my last undergraduate final today...but I'm having the hardest time staying motivated enough to study.

Last night, instead of studying, I researched all the available discounts for rental cars in July in Orlando. The best deal I found for a 7 pass minivan was $346 for 5 days & 21 hours with an Orlando Magicard discount.
I'm going to show my parents on Saturday, but I think even if they agree to it, we'll wait to book until later, because there are lots of other discounts that are only available through the end of June, so I'm assuming they'll release some for the rest of the year later on.

Also, I took one of the online practice quizzes from my book, and it has the wrong answers. I did a true and false question reading it literally straight from the book, and I hit submit for the quiz it said I got the answer wrong. There were a bunch of other questions I was sure I got right, but not as obviously as that one.
That did nothing for my motivation....

All this talk about going Deluxe is making it hard to keep up my resolve! I'd always been a tried and true Value girl-I'm cheap and we're not there much. In January between you all bragging on Mods, and the fab 4/3 deal, we went CBR...this next time I'm determined to stay cheap but hopefully longer so we can relax more, but you all keep talking BC and WL and AKL-I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT!!!! SOMEONE...PLEASE...TELL ME WHY VALUE IS GOOD...

In January between you all bragging on Mods, and the fab 4/3 deal, we went CBR...this next time I'm determined to stay cheap but hopefully longer so we can relax more, but you all keep talking BC and WL and AKL-I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT!!!! SOMEONE...PLEASE...TELL ME WHY VALUE IS GOOD...

Because it's a ridiculously good deal!!!! I would love to stay in the family suite, but my hubby is a bus snob Every time I bring it up he says,"But don't you have to ride BUSES? Like that's a big deal!!! But he doesn't mind paying the deluxe price so I am NOT complaining!! But really, as far as bathtubs, toilets, and a few hours of sleep--the values to me are just as good as the deluxes. Yeah, they are decorated more appealingly, and they are closer to MK or Epcot, but if its gonna make or break your vacation, who cares?
I actually told Mike last night I want to stay 2 weeks next time! He almost fell out. Okay, at least a week and a half--we could do it if we stayed at a value! I don't think he's gonna go for it. Be Value and Be Proud girl!! You are being a good steward over your money! More for souvies!!!!!

It's a roof over your head! They are still a great place to stay- it's Disney for Pete's Sake. I'm the opposite of cheap, Lord help me <---- and I mean that.. LORD, HELP ME!!! Sure, there are added perks to staying at a Deluxe, but if you are at Disney World, you are at Disney World.

I've already got almost enough saved for a Value, but I'm going to see how things go. The plan for us is value, but all this Dissing had me going bananas, too.

They're less expensive, and they're still on the property.

I haven't figured out a good way to convince my parents that we should be on the property. Unfortunately, the discounts offered for the summer aren't as good as those during value season, but we can't all go during value season. Well some of us could, but somebody would have to miss school.

Unfortunately, for the trip I'm tentatively planning for December, I'm expecting the deals to be just good enough that I'm considering doing something other than a Value, or doing a Value/Deluxe split stay.

I probably should just do a Value for the whole time, it would save money, but the temptation is just so great.
Actually, if I'm being really practical I should call up my sister's in-laws and see if they'll let me stay in their house. My rationale for not doing that is we'd have to pay for a rental car, and since neither one of us is older than 24 it costs extra. Unless we drove...but that's a 20 hour drive, and I don't want to...

Don't worry, all this talking about and planning for a deluxe that I am doing is all likely to be for nothing! It is very likely that my practical side (some may call it cheap ) will come out in the end and we will stay at a moderate as usual. We could have upgraded to a deluxe this year with the 4/3 deal, but we just didn't see the need when the moderates have everything we need. So we'll just have to see what happens. . . It would be hard to pass up a deluxe if they offer something spectacular - like even better than the 4/3! It's always good to be prepared because you never know!

He is really pushing me to try and get us a DVC points reservaton so we can stay at BLT! He wants to stay at the Contemporary so he can ride the monorail EVERY DAY!

The kids and I want to stay at POFQ this next time! That was where we had originally planned to stay in January. 4/3 kinda changed that for us. I really want to stay at POFQ next time! I don't mind riding buses on vacation! As long as I don't have to drive, I don't really care how we get around!

Good for you! Your marriage is the MOST IMPORTANT human relationship you will have in your lifetime! It is so important to take time to nurture it!

We are going to the maritimes (Nova Scotia & PEI) for our big 1-0 in July! 47 days! I can hardly wait! We haven't been away just the two of us for mare than one night in a looooong time!

So all this talk about Deluxe and Values...I have always been a value girl however for my birthday trip I get to stay at SSR and I'm afraid after that experience I may never be able to go back again LOL!!!!!!

Now I can be justified in spending all my time planning for Disney... well...and looking for a job. After Saturday I can no longer have a student job, because I will no longer be a student.
Unfortunately the job searching is not going so well... even the few retail places I've applied haven't called back, so now its time to really put some effort into my job hunting.
