It's snowing again....

snowtired_normal-2.jpg

Well, we're getting freezing rain, which has turned our outdoors into an ice rink. I think I'd almost rather have snow.

But we're supposed to get well above freezing today, which is good, because I want to go accost Target's holiday section and hit up Best Buy to exchange a duplicate gift for something else!

As for bad luck, well, we didn't leave the house yesterday so we were almost safe. Then my DH learned a grade school friend's grandma died somewhat unexpectedly on Christmas Eve (she was 90, however). The reason that this is important to him is because he and his friend used to play at the grandma's house after school every day when he was growing up, so he has very fond memories of the lady.

We are outta hear in about 3 hours....I'll chat with you guys when we return!!!!!!

I can't wait to hear back from you!! I have two weeks!! I am so excited! Three birthdays, a New Year's Eve, six days of work... and I'm THERE!

Well, Christmas Day has been rather eventful in my house. Pretty low key this morning, watched the parade and didn't do much else. Then we were literally on our way out the door to my cousin's house when my mother started having shooting pain in her lower left back. It was so bad that she got sick from it. Well my brother, grandma and I headed over to my cousin's and dad stayed with mom. He called me about 45 min. later to tell me they were at the ER. Mom has kidney stones. So we came back home, not telling my 95yr old grandma anything until we got back here, and then she started going crazy! I know she is just trying to be helpful, however, it's not working (:rolleyes1 ). The stone is too big to pass so my mother has to have a stint put in tomorrow morning so that she can pass it. So they are keeping her over night. *Apparently no family holiday is complete without a trip to the ER*

My mom also said she kept telling anyone within ear shot that she only has 13 days to recover! I guess the doctor told her that he wasn't messing around with a Disney vacation, and promised that she would be 100% by then or he would have to come along to chaperone her!:rotfl: At least he had a good bedside manner for working on Christmas Day.

My DH has had kidney stones that were small enough to pass, so he was in agony for about 3 days until they did pass! He would have given anything for a stint!

And I'm not surprised about the doctor - in most hospitals, the Jewish doctors volunteer to work the Christmas shifts - now, going to the hospital on Rosh Hashanah is another story! :rotfl2:

Hope all those with injuries/illnesses recover quickly!

We are outta hear in about 3 hours....I'll chat with you guys when we return!!!!!!

Have a great trip! We're outta here in 8 days!

Yesterday was pretty quiet for us - it's just another day off. We had our Chinese food and D and I went to the movies. We saw Doubt - Meryl Streep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman were amazing, but I think it works better on stage. There isn't a lot of "action" in the movie, it's more a battle of wills and lots of conversation. On stage, strong actors can really draw you in; it's a lot harder to do that on the broad expanse of film. It's worth seeing, but it may actually work better as a DVD.

My employer is closed today, so it's another day off! :woohoo:Slept late and now I'm here :surfweb:. Packing starts today! D doesn't really want to "plan" - she loves the ADRs I made, and if I ask her if she wants to do an attraction or something, she says, "Mom, can we decide when we get there?" Where did I go wrong??

Morning snowbirds!!
We're having a warm day today - might hit 40! what will I do?
I'm so sorry for those of you that had a rough day yesterday! Hope things will be better soon.

We are still going crazy with the Wii. My parents and bro stayed til about 8. My parents LOVED bowling!! It was hysterical! My bro loves Mario Kart. I had a heck of a time with that one! We had a really fun day! I thought I'd stay up late playing, but I was SO TIRED! 9:30 and I headed to bed. I ate so much, I was too afraid to step on the Wii Fit and set it up for myself. It would definitely say overweight! I guess I'll have to get to work on that! We are having a low key day today. DH has to work, but he said he will be home early. I want to shop, but I'l miss the early bird specials, since it's already 10:30 and I'm not taking the kids. I want to scope out some Christmas stuff, but mostly want to buy myself some new clothes. Yup, it's all about me!! :)
Safe travels to all who are leaving today or this weekend!! Wish it was me! I think I'm at 30 days? One month? Well, when I post I'll find out for sure!!

Happy Holidays all!!

Well we had a great Christmas Eve till about 1 am then the little guy started throwing up til 6 am. He really didn't even want to see what Santa brought. Poor baby.

We had freezing rain last night so its a skating rink out there. But DH is happy he always turns our front yard into a giant sled run complete with launch ramp. He says this will make his work easier. All I know is that from today on ALL the neighborhood kids hang out at our house.:rotfl:

Hello snowbirds! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the kind words about the surprise. It was great, but truthfully I am glad it is out in the open now! It started to set in with the boys last night after our family left. Then the questions began! :yay: :yay: So fun!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Sorry to all those who were/are sick or had sick family members. I spent most of the day coughing my head off. Not fun! Not sure what I have, but I think DH is getting it too. Better now than in a month from now I guess.

I am heading over to add a few more pics to the surprise thread! :cool1:

Hello Everybody! Hope everybody had a great few days :) I also am sick  Nothing to bad but it's a lot of coughing and sneezing :sad1:

Well my Mother decided to give us passes to Universal Studios - very nice BUT now I have to re-plan everything :scared1: I've been done planning for months. I don't know what to do?? Does anybody have any Universal tips? Do we try and do both parks in one day? I only have one day that MAY work..what about a half a day? Is it a good place for little ones? AHHH! Oh well I guess it will make these last 25 days go by faster :car:

Hey everyone. Prayers are needed. My mother's condition has changed. She still has kidney stones however during the night her oxygen levels dropped and it was discovered that she has pneumonia (or however the heck you spell that weird word). She now is in ICU. She's so paranoid about our trip, but doctors keep saying that they believe she has the extra fluid because of the kidney stone. However they can't do anything about the kidney stone just yet because of the pneumonia. The doctor we talked to a few minutes ago said that by the end of the weekend however they should be able to take care of the stone and that within a 24 hour period we would see a drastic change with the pneumonia. So my father is going psycho, he doesn't handle stress very well, and he doesn't show emotion...at all. So I'm just trying to keep everything together here.

I will keep your mom in my prayers. Everything will be ok.

OH RED! So sorry to hear this! My mom is just recovering from a mild case of pneumonia! Stubborn woman thought she just had a bad cold! I will keep your mom in my prayers, hopefully she will be all better in no time! :goodvibes

I need some advice from some of you who have been before.... we leave in 24 days! How soon should I place my grocery order from GG and how soon should I do the preorder of the photopass? Thanks!

WOW, does anyone have a family who is completely well? Drew's had a fever off and on since C-Eve, and today he started with diarrhea. Keaton has (they think) impetigo, a nasty infectious rash on his butt and mouth. Don't you just love the holidays???

On another note, even though I had to work today, it was in the high 50's (even though it was misting all day), I spent my lunch in our parking lot hooking up the car DVD players that "Santa" brought me and hubby. Drew thought it was cool that Santa brought that for mommy and daddy since mommy wanted it but didn't want to pay for it!! I cracked up.

Knock on wood, we are all healthy! If you don't count how perpetually full I feel, since I've eaten way too much!

My DD7 asked Santa for the Wii, so we wouldn't have to spend so much money and could "just" buy her an American Girl doll!! Aren't they clever?

I spent the day doing pretty much nothing but recovering from yesterday and playing Wii. I did run out shopping for a bit, and got a few shirts at Old Navy, but struck out everywhere else. It's rainy and yucky here, but I think it was in the upper 30s today. Our driveway is clear of snow! It'll probably be all ice tomorrow.

Ooooo! I totally forgot about preordering my photopass! I need the answer to Kim's question too! I leave in 29 days!

I'm so sorry to hear that not everyone's Christmas was magical:guilty:. What a shame. for speedy recovery in time for the WDW trip!

My Christmas was exhausting. My DH's family (52 of them) came over to my house at noon and the last one left at 11:30pm. I crashed! I do all of the major cooking of turkey, tenderloin tips, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet corn, green bean casserole, jello, cranberries and rolls. I ask quests to bring appetizers and desserts. Thankfully, the desserts were almost aten...
My DD's also got a Wii...I got the Wii Fit and I'm obese and need to lose a TON of weight before my trip.:scared1:
It feels like a heat wave here in Wisconsin today but I'm still cold sitting on my couch. I am going to turn on my fireplace and get a blanket.

Safe traveling for all of the Early snowbirds. I am starting to pack tomorrow. :yay:

I need to call Disney tomorrow or Sunday (man, I don't know what day of the week it is!) and order the cake for the birthday party. I hope I don't forget. I, too, need to place an order with Garden Grocer. I should do that soon, since we're going to be there marathon weekend!

We did eventually make it out of the house. Needless to say, places were a total zoo. Returned my exta game at Best Buy and bought the blu-ray Pirates of the Caribbean box set (woohoo!). Then we braved the mall for our half-price calendars. It was CROWDED but mostly with teens and their friends. I guess the area has been on vacation for a week already, so they're probably all bored!

TWO WEEKS till Disney!!!
