We (my brother and DH and I) are loving it!! Can't wait to get my parents bowling!

Have a great day!:santa:

My dad REALLY enjoyed bowling with the Wii. I just got Carnival Games for it, today, and I'm pretty stocked. It's a great mindless game with no goal other than to accrue "points".

My DH and I have had a really great day so far. Super-low key, which is good since I'm sick (again).

I got Sleeping Beauty for blu-ray! I'm pretty excited - it's the two-disc version with a regular DVD disc, too.

Well we are finished packing.....As soon as my husband calls to tell me he is on his way home I will double check the list......and we are outta HERE

Shelly- your boys look like they are in shock! How does it feel to be able to talk about it in the open now? :cloud9:

Congrats to the new Wii owners. My hubby is disappointed Santa didn't bring him one.:rolleyes1 Perhaps next year. I think a trip to Disney is sufficient for this year!

Now that Christmas is done...it's time to get my tushy in gear and get ready for Disney!!!!! I'll be working on my packing list tomorrow and setting up the suitcases in my daughter's room- she won't mind!

Merry Christmas everyone- I'm off to bed.

Well we are finished packing.....As soon as my husband calls to tell me he is on his way home I will double check the list......and we are outta HERE

Can't wait to hear about your trip!!!!!! Have a magically wonderful time!!!!

HAVE AN AMAZINGLY MAGICAL TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

Shelly - I'm so excited that you can now talk to your boys about the trip! I think that's half the fun of the trips, the talking and planning!

Well, Christmas Day has been rather eventful in my house. Pretty low key this morning, watched the parade and didn't do much else. Then we were literally on our way out the door to my cousin's house when my mother started having shooting pain in her lower left back. It was so bad that she got sick from it. Well my brother, grandma and I headed over to my cousin's and dad stayed with mom. He called me about 45 min. later to tell me they were at the ER. Mom has kidney stones. So we came back home, not telling my 95yr old grandma anything until we got back here, and then she started going crazy! I know she is just trying to be helpful, however, it's not working (:rolleyes1 ). The stone is too big to pass so my mother has to have a stint put in tomorrow morning so that she can pass it. So they are keeping her over night. *Apparently no family holiday is complete without a trip to the ER*

My mom also said she kept telling anyone within ear shot that she only has 13 days to recover! I guess the doctor told her that he wasn't messing around with a Disney vacation, and promised that she would be 100% by then or he would have to come along to chaperone her!:rotfl: At least he had a good bedside manner for working on Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas snowbirds. I saw a funny ad in the paper here today.
I have to cut it out and scan it for everyone to read. It is funny.
I was just checking in before heading to bed to see how momoftwodisneyboys made out with her surprise. I have to work tomorrow, will Dh and the kids stay home and play all day.:confused3

Well, Santa scored BIG with the Wii!!
DH and DD7 have only left the TV to go to the bathroom and get food!! LOL

The girls didn't notice at first, because our tree is on the main level and fireplace and TV are on the lower level. So we went to the tree first, and they went crazy opening the presents from us. Then they realized they didn't have any Santa presents. They are usually not wrapped. So they went to see the stockings downstairs and a big chair was blocking the bottom of the steps, so the dog couldn't go down. They saw the stockings were laying on the floor, overflowing, since they might fall off the mantel. Then they saw the Wii console and games sitting next to the TV cabinet and started SCREAMING!!! "We got a wii!!" over and over. It was so funny!

We (my brother and DH and I) are loving it!! Can't wait to get my parents bowling!

Have a great day!:santa:
It was a big hit in our house also. I got lucky and found one at target.
We got home from dinner at Dh's aunt about 9pm and they have been playing.

Well we are finished packing.....As soon as my husband calls to tell me he is on his way home I will double check the list......and we are outta HERE

Have a great time, see you in five days!:goodvibes

Merry Christmas Everyone! :goodvibes What a great day! :cool1: Girls were thrilled with ALL their gifts! princess: BANDITS, I tell you, they made off like bandits! For every 1 present I had, they had at least 3! CRAZY! My children are spoiled! I was very lucky to get what I wanted most - MAMMA MIA DVD! Woohoo! Just finished watching it, in fact! So fun!

Shelly - so glad the surprise was what you wanted it to be! It must feel like such a HUGE relief to be able to talk about it in the open now!

RED - hope your mom feels better soon! She will be in my prayers!

Enjoy the rest of your Christmas Snowbirds! :)

OH - watched the parade today with my girls! It was so hard to not say "We will be there in just 3 weeks!" My tongue is really sore from biting it for 2 hours! :rotfl: Only 1 more week till we drop the bomb! They are going to freak! :yay:

oooo, I know all about kidney stones - I've had them twice, really really painful...the good side for me at least was that it did not take me that long to recover. Hopefully in 13 days, this will be just a painful but distant memory...

Merry Christmas Snowbirdies!!!! :yay:

Hope you've all had a very fun, happy day!!

Guess what - this is officially my last post before we head to the USA!! We leave on Sunday, but we're dropping my laptop off at DH's parent's tomorrow, so this is my last play on the DIS boards for a while!

So....... I'll catch you all when we get back!! Hope you all have fantastic trips, and can't wait to hear about them all on our return!! :woohoo: :thumbsup2

Byeeeeeeeee!!!

yay for your trip! Please let us know when you get back - we want to hear all about all your travels in the US...and be careful, too.

Well we are finished packing.....As soon as my husband calls to tell me he is on his way home I will double check the list......and we are outta HERE

woo - hoo! Have fun and give those of us still waiting a full report...

speaking of eventful Christmases...mine was unfortunately...

I went to take a friend her present [a gift card I had put into a Christmas card]. She lives fairly close so I decided to walk over there with my dog [my avatar - a 80-100 lb 1-1/2 year old puppy]. I thought no one would be over there so I would just drop it off.

Well, her 6-year old son was outside playing and, to make a long story shorter, my dog got away from me. I had been holding on to him very tightly, the little boy was riding on his new bike and my dog snipped at him [my dog was playing - but he still outweighed her son by easily 40-60 lbs]. The little boy freaked, ran inside the house - he had to be taken to the emergency room and have 2 stitches.

My friend was so sweet about it but talk about ruining a Christmas! That poor kid and his poor parents!!!!! And, too, apparently this is standard practice - the police had to be notified so the call I got from my friend was, 'If the police call you about this....:scared1: ' [She hurriedly reassured me that they aren't prosecuting, they have pets and understand it was an accident]

UGH...is there a rewind button I could push for today? Oh, and to top it all off, after I got home, I realized that I had forgotten to put the gift card in her Christmas card --- :faint:

It's snowing again....

UGH! I can tell you that kidney stones are NOT fun. Mine passed without issue, so I comment on the recovery on that end. I had to snicker about how your mom was telling everyone that she was not going to miss her Disney Vacation. That is exactly the kind of thing my grandma does when she is in the hospital.
ER Doctor: I'm sorry Ethel, it looks like you have a blood clot in your leg
and you'll have to be with us for several days.
My Gram: Now you listen! I'm going to the casinos in two days and I
WILL be better to go!

It never fails she wills herself better and the doctors release her! LOL

We had an eventful Christmas Day, too! My grandma has been ill for some time now. She passes out frequently because her body is no longer capable of making blood (long story) She has a transfusion every 3 or so weeks and is good to go. Yesterday, she was walking to sit down and suddenly passed out. My SIL said she went back like a plank of wood, hitting her head square on the dining room table. It's so scary! Fortunately, she was ok, other than a little bump.

Other than that, we had a great day. DS had his "best Christmas EVER!" I got some nice things for our vacation. DH and DS bought me the Magic Kingdom board game. We've not had the chance to play it, but hopefully today.

I don't have the post-Christmas let down because I know in just a few days, I'll be headed to Disney!! :woohoo:

10 Days!

Well Christmas was really nice at our house, except for the car breaking down. We only have one car so having it go kaput was not a good thing. THANKFULLY, we are off the next 11 days and have time to get it fixed and our repair guy lives just down the road within walking distance.

However if it is too much to repair, it might be time to get a new one LOL!!! HOwever we had lovely friends who picked us up and took us to their house and we had the best time just sitting and talking and enjoy each other's company!! It was a great evening.

Now to deal with the car LOL!!

Hello Snowbirds!!!
I am happy for those that had a great Christmas, and prayers to those whose families got ill! Wishes for speedy recoveries!
We watched the parade (twice- :happytv: Thank you PVR). Our meals went well the kids loved their gifts - Everything seems to be "save it for Disney". We're all addicts in this house.
My sister came with her 2 kids and we discussed planning for December 2009 with the whole crew! Wowzers!

I got all chocked up reading about those of you leaving! It is so exciting I feel your joy!
Shelley- thank you for sharing your surprise! I don;t know how you kept it a secret for so long, I can;t stop talking about it, our ADRs and DD's BBB and wonderland Tea Party are a surprise. She knows they exist and she has been asked if she would enjoy them, but she doesn't know they're booked. That's as much of a surprise as I can handle.
Today we are heading to DH's family- 3 hours away- Uggghhhh! last night we re opened the disney planning. DH got our dinner invites done ( suprise ADRs) and I kept reading my 2009 UG!
Today at the Boxing Day sales - DH headed to Future Shop for 6 am opening and got me my Canon Rebel Camera!!! Woohoo. I had $450 in gift cards from work bonuses and the camera was on sale for $499.00 (down from $899.00) so i now have 2- 3 weeks to learn how to use it. I have always been a photography buff and get so disappointed with my fireworks and evening shots. My compact camera just doesn't cut it - it probably would if I spent the time figuring it out, but I have always (since I was a teen wanted the Rebel). So I am excited and so glad Dh stood in the cold for me- the store let them in 15 minutes early and took preorders at 5:30- Dh was there at 5:30.
Have a wonderful day !
:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

Shelly, what a wonderful surprise and the looks on their faces, are priceless. Today they might talk your ears off with talk about Disney.:goodvibes

To all Snowbirds that had too eventful of holidays in a bad way, .

We had an alright Christmas. The weather turned out alright and we were able to have Christmas over at my parents on Christmas Eve. Dear children were to stay over at my parents to let Santa do what he needed to do. Luckily Santa arrived at our home early, as we received a phone call saying DS wanted to come home.

On Christmas we had brunch over at DH's Mom's home. DS freaked out due to SIL's kids did a ripping frenzy over the tree and presents. We have an adult give out the presents at my parents place and ours so a free for all was more than poor DS could take. SIL has 4 kids, 2 teenagers and 2 closer to my children's ages. Lets just say it was a short visit over there. Luckily all family live in the same city so not a big deal.

Then after that Christmas it is back home for our Christmas. Children were a bit disappointed at lack of gifts as they don't understand that DH was out of work for 6 months. Anyhow, we kept on saying we are going to Disney in a month.:cool1: DS was only 18 months so he doesn't remember at all and DD was 6 so she has some memories but still doesn't grasp the whole idea, as it was her first visit last time.

I forgot to do up the "coupons" for the Pirate Cruise and Alice Tea Party. I am now thinking of leaving it a surprise for the day they go. I was thinking of buying a stuffed animal they want, some balloons and of course some pixie dust (on the table so easy to clean) and then a letter explaining what is going on. Maybe if I am smart enough, I will have it signed by a character (earlier in the week).

My dear friend at work is making me feel bad ;) about not taking her on her birthday as it will be on one of the days we are in Disney. I am thinking of buying a Birthday card and having the various characters we meet up with sign it for her and take their picture while doing it. I thought that would be a unique gift for her. If I can get creative enough, I might try to scrapbook the card for her along with the photos of the characters. I have never scrapbooked before but willing to try.

I wish the best for all the Snowbirds this weekend.:flower3:

Good morning everyone! I couldn't get on the computer yesterday..too busy so Merry Christmas to everyone. We had a wonderful Christmas. Santa brought a mountain of gifts for my DD! As she started to get to the end of the pile, a worried look washed across her face. I just looked at my DH and we knew she was looking for a Nintendo ds. When she opened the last one, my DH had to tell her that mommy and daddy had gotten her a few things too. When she opened that ds, she was so excited! She knows how much one is because she's always looking at the toy ads. So she then asks, "How could you buy this for me?" She's so cute! She asked Santa for it because she knows how much it costs.

She also got plenty of board games, nintendo ds games and from my parents, the Fisher Price Loving Family Grand Dollhouse. It's awesome! She's playing with it right now. My parents and my older sis and BIL got us some very generous Disney gift cards. We couldn't have been happier about that! My parents also got me the Vera Bradley bag I wanted! Yea!

I'm heading off to the mall with my DD and older sis today. I know, we're crazy! But, I have some gift cards to spend and my DD has plenty of allowance and Christmas money to spend on either ds games or rooms for her dollhouse. Have fun with all your new toys today!

We are outta hear in about 3 hours....I'll chat with you guys when we return!!!!!!

PAMOUSELOVER see you in 5 :cool1: :cool1: party: :jumping1: party: :jumping1: party: :jumping1: party:
