January 2008 Code Watch

Every year WDW sponsers a Marathon/Half Marathon at WDW. It usually runs the 2nd weekend of January. Lots of resort rooms are taken up- but the parks are relatively uncrowded.

Just wondering...these discount codes everyone's looking for, are they public codes that often come out for January? Or is it an AP rate for Jan. that is more likely? I realize we'll take whatever comes, but what is more likely based on past discounts? I've never been, leaving probably Jan. 27/08. So should I wait until 2008 rates come out to book a room only? Or is that too late? BTW, we need connecting rooms. Thanks!

That's a good question- I'm also wondering, if I buy an AP now,but don't activate it, when does it 'start?" like if I bought now so I would have it for discounts when they appear, it wouldn't start the year till I got down, and used it first, right?
OR if I have to use an Ap # to reserve at a discount, would it affect my usage?

You don't need an AP to book a room only at check in. If you buy an AP voucher it isn't activated until you do so at a guest relations at a park or Downtown Disney with a photo ID. You can buy an activated AP at the airport.

You do need a voucher if you want to purchase the Disney Dining Experience (unless you're a FL resident). That gives you 20% off most TS meals including drinks and even a few CS places (like value resort food courts-where there is no TS). You can order it over the phone and pick up a temporary card at Guest Relations in Epcot but I've always ordered mine to be shipped home. It is good for one year-not activated. I've heard that the expire date changes on the 6th of the month to the following month. So I ordered mine on Nov 6th and got it delivered to my house just in time for my 12/12 trip and it has a Dec 2007 expire date.

I purchased mine @ the disney store and then activated it my 1st day @ the park. Just remember the day you activate it, your pass will expire exactly one year from that date. When I bought it last year, we booked our Jan. trip and told them we were AP holders and we had to show our voucher @ ck in. So, we got the AP discounts! Have fun! We are enjoying ours. We are going on our 2nd trip in May and we have 3 more booked before it expires Jan. 13, 2008!!

does anyone know when park hours and hours for fireworks come out? i was looking on the disney site, but they dont have 08 calenders out yet...

We are there every Jan. and this is what I can remember:

-MK is open till 9 so Wishes was @ 8 everynight
-MGM closes @ 7
-AK closes @ 5
-Epcot closes @ 7-Futureworld /9-WS
I hope this helps. We will be there Jan. 4th!!

Subscribing too!
We are disneymooning Jan 6-19!!! DF has never been and we can't wait!!! But, we desperately need a discount code!
When should we book our hotel? I'm concerned that with the marathon happening in the middle of our stay, we will have hotel availability issues. How long do we have before that becomes a concern?
Thanks!
We will be there the same time January 6th-16th.
I already booked our room at POR. I would love a discount code so we can upgrade to a deluxe (w/out some sort of discount 10 nights at a deluxe isn't happening!) but if there aren't any codes/discounts available we'll be perfectly happy at POR.
Do you have your heart set on a particular resort? If I were you I would go ahead and book it, you can always apply a code later if one becomes available. You only have to pay a one night deposit when you make a reservation.
Also check out this website, great selection of resort photo's.

With our budget, we can only afford a value, so we've decided to stay at POP. I'm worried about it, but figure we won't be in our hotel room all that much.

Don't worry because you'll be at Disney for your honeymoon!
The dates you will be there are considered value season, so even w/ out any discount, at least you'll get the lowest "rack rate".
I was initially booked at WL but switched to POR, that switch saved me about $780.00! Still hoping for a code though.....

Don't worry! You will have a great time at the POP! Value doesn't mean low-budget, it just means the least expensive/most affordable.:thumbsup2

I can't believe this but I've just booked at POFQ January 6-11 for a mother/daughter trip. And I haven't even gone on my WDW honeymoon yet. I've never ever held two reservations at once before!

I want to join in ;)

Of course I have a question...lol. 40% is this normally just for AP? Also, I was thinking of joining AAA just to get a discount at AKL would this be worth it? I would be staying at AKL savvanah view Jan 3-9.

Any tips on how to save $$ would be great. I may split our stay between mod and deluxe to save $$. We just really want to stay at AKL.. :)

One more question... what hapens if I book now. Then a code comes out? Can I apply it? Do they normaly limited it to only on certain resorts or certain room views? Thanks :) Tiffany
