January 2008 Code Watch

Subscribing...

We were planning on going the last week in February, but due my DD's competition dance schedule, we're now going January 27- February 2.

homeschoolmomof4- those are almost our exact dates- we are going Jan 26- Feb 2. Is there a dance competition in WDW that week- or does she just have one somewhere else when you were planning to go?

We have ressies for POR 1/3-9th. I hope the schedules for times, etc. come out before my 180 days, but I don't think they will. :sad2:

What times are you looking for?

We have gone the past two years during the week you will be there in 2008, maybe I can help you with a general idea of times.

Interested in finding the codes also. We're going next June. I'm going with my daughter and grandkids. It's going to be my first trip to WDW!!! I can't wait!!!

Tink2, her competition is not in WDW. Her competition is in February elsewhere. I'm hoping the week we go will be nice and quiet with good weather. I've never been in January so I'm hoping it's not cold. Have you ever been in January?

Have the room booked but want to switch to the package and goind NUTS here. Geez, I was never so happy to give someone my credit card LOL

Thanks for answering- no offense, but I'm glad her competition isn't in WDW- I'm hoping for a quiet trip myself. Nope, never been in Jan. But, from what I've read on these boards, it seems to be weather all over the place- from freezing to shorts. It also seems to vary day by day greatly. So, guess I'll prepare for everything when we pack!!!

FYI... yes the weather can be all over the map in January. We were there last January and had high 80's and humid for the first couple of days. Then it dropped to low 60's (colder at night!) and we froze because of the temp. change. Then our last few days it was pleasant and in the low 70's. Prepare for anything and everything.

The good part is... rain isn't as likely in January!

Have fun!:hippie:

We travelled to WDW one year at the end of April. Day 1: pouring rain all day. Day 2: Blazing hot & humid (and I'm from Texas, where we have hot & humid 75% of the year!). Day 3: 42 degrees and windy! I am not joking! 42 degrees in Florida! We had to go buy sweats & jackets! Day 4: beautiful, 75 degrees, sunny, and the last day of our trip. We joke in Texas that if you don't like the weather, just wait a day. Especially here in North Texas. I guess we felt right at home that trip!

That sounds like our 2003 trip to Disney!! We had blazing hot weather the last few days of March and then it turned SO COLD the first few days of April. I couldnt believe how windy and cold it was at that time, especially after being so HOT for so many days.

Hi I just wanted to let you know we have been going in Jan for a couple years now because our DD is a college cheerleader and their national competition is usually MLK weekend and there are a lot of other things that take place in Jan but the parks are not too bad. They usually have conventions at the hotels too but to me it is still a great time of year to go. As for the weather 2 years ago it was a little chilly while last Jan I thought it was perfect weather. Our kids swam all week. Have a great vacation!:cheer2:

Hello!

I'm going the same time too! Jan 26th thru Feb 1st!! I feel the same way about it being far away..but once summer is over, and the holidays hit, it will FLY BY!!! It's hard though when you have disney on the brain everyday...:lmao:

I'm wondering about park closing times and show times. I want to make smart choices for my ADRs, but without the times of Wishes and other shows, it seems impossible. :confused3
Do you remember when they closed from your last visit?

During christmas through new years the parks are open longer. After the first couple of days in January the parks closed earlier.

MK 9 p.m.
Epcot 9 p.m.
AK 6 p.m.
MGM 6-7 p.m.

The fireworks for wishes and illumination were both at 9 p.m. (closing time of MK and epcot).

Fantasmic was a bit different. Some nights the show was at 7 p.m. other nights the shows were at 6 p.m. Depending on closing time. I Believe that during MLK weekend they might have had two shows the same night, but all other nights just one.

Animal Kingdom usually closes around 5-6 p.m. depending on extra magic hours.
