January 19, 2013 - FANTASY 7 Night Western Cruise

For those cruise vets out there... you know who you are... all those fancy lanyards! hehe Lets gel out these first timers...

1) what is your favorite thing to do on the ship

2) favorite hidden treasure that not everyone knows about

3) The one thing that you MUST remember to pack that isnt on the normal list


Ours are
1) Midship detective agency or watch them load the towels before we leave castaway (lame i know but my goodness that is a LOT of towels!!!)

2)cookie on a stick... not telling where though so you don't eat them all. Our youngest doesnt eat anything cold (his choice) so a cookie on a stick is a HUGE treat for hiM!

3) my water bottle. I hate to buy bottled water when I can fill a perfectly handy bottle. I always bring it, especially to fill before excursions. But i fill a cup and then dump it in the bottle

I know it is a month before the cruise, not sure what I was thinking. Anyway, that is a good time frame, no problem for us.

Like I said, this is our 7th Disney Cruise. 3 Years ago, we did the Panama Canal trip on Holland America. That is our only non Disney cruise. It was a great trip, but it just doesn't compane to Disney. We would rather stick with Disney from now on.

My son turns 8 right after the cruise and my husband and I are around the same age as you guys (I'll be 35, he's 32). Welcome to the cruise! Maybe we can meet up sometime on the ship. I know Landon would love to hang out with another boy. He is always stuck with my daughter (10) and her friends!

I never went on a cruise, however i went to disneyworld with my children at least 5 times.
I would like to participate to the fish extender.

I replied a while back, and thought I was subscribed to the thread. Totally surprised to see 9 pages! We are still deciding if we will participate in fish extenders. We are in the process of selling our house right now, so it is a little hectic around here. It looks like we have a little time to decide yet. I'll let you know by cut off date.

We only have one excursion booked so far. We are going on the Cozumel Bar Hop. Super excited for this one as it has so many excellent reviews and sounds like a great way to celebrate my husband's 32nd birthday! In Costa Maya we are planning on going to Tropicante.

The bar hop sounded fun but I dont think the kids would enjoy that!

Seems that the popular vote is to stick with the cut off of december 19 and be FIRM about it! Sounds good to me.

Hey everyone! I just put a one day hold on this until I can reach my TA and have my dummy moved over! We were going to go on the Wonder in Miami in February but I messed up my calendar and almost missed my daughter's school musical performance!

So we have decided to make the leap to the Fantasy. We were on the Fantasy in May and LOVED it.

One of the things our Dis group did in May was to book a private mixology - we had a BLAST. They told us they actually changed the way they do mixology because of our group (in a good way) and did not even charge us! We had 50 in the mixology group.

Is anyone interested in a private mixology? you first watch a presentation, then you take turns behind the bar making the drinks, while you are drinking the drinks others make. I think it was supposed to be a $20 pp charge.

If so, I can make the arrangements.

I don't think we will be doing the FE this time around, as it will be just my husband and I. We are leaving our dd behind to go to school. We are celebrating my birthday and our 20th wedding anniversary.

2. Favorite treat - making my own soda float - and I know where the cookie pops can be found - hint....if the ship photographer took your picture, it would not be a long walk to see it.

3. My phone/key holder that one of the Diser's made as an FE gift on our last Fantasy cruise.

This sounds like a great idea but I do not think we will participate in it. We are not a "drinking family" ourselves. I know there are several people on this board that may be interest so hopefully some of them speak up so you can book this great opportunity. Sounds fun!

Congrats on travel without the kids. That day is a long way off for our family!

Hope everyone survived the holiday. Ours was a mess, but then again Thanksgiving always is around here. If someone isn't sick, injured or dying it wouldn't be our average holiday.

Now to prepare for the next wave of holidays and get started on the FE gifts. I had this AWESOME idea and made a prototype, ordered the supplies and the kids have now confiscated the supplies so I am back to square one oh well, i work well under pressure.

I know we won't be interested in mixology. My father is a recovering alcoholic. It would be fun to get everyone together and do something, though.

keep wondering the same thing. have we scared everyone away? are we all veterans and tongue tied?? I would think there would be more chatter. not used to it so hush hush on the boards.

As long as my son, who turns 5 jan 16th, gets his share of cookie pops i will let it slip where to get them. He doesnt eat sweets other than chocolate chip cookies. haha his choice! last cruise our dining staff brought him 4 cookies each dinner!

You asked if my bags were packed, and boy do I wish they were. We are doing Christmas with our children (all grown and married) on December 15th. We are all in Delaware except for a daughter who is living in Alabama, so we had to make the date when we could all be together and the 15th it is. After that, the packing begins as we will head south on the 27th. My mind is still spinning as to what to pack for the cruise and for our winter stay in Florida. I usually way overpack and am trying to do better this time, but not sure it is going to happen. We are really looking forward to the cruise and seeing our friends reaction to their first Disney Cruise. Boy are they going to be spoiled !!! Have a great Holiday everyone !!!

So I've been sneaky about holiday gifting- and found out that my DH is taking us on this cruise as a gift. I haven't found our stateroom # yet but I wanted to get in on the fish extender list if I'm allowed to now (before cutoff date) and then after 12/25 I'll be able to give room details (trying to preserve the surprise to some extent).

this will be our first disney cruise and our first since having the girls- a whole new adventure!

Also- in our "theoretical" discussions, DH has noted that for Zoe to go into childcare, it requires a reservation and additional fee. She's in kidcare at the YMCA all the time and loves it there, so I'm not worried about leaving her. But I would love tips from those with experience about when would be a good time to try to reserve a spot for her (dinner? evening? afternoon??) and when there will be stuff she'll enjoy doing with the family.
Since Oceaneers is drop in for Brooke ( and she's much more able to communicate her needs and desires) we're not so worried about that.
