January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

I'm worried that we wont get any cruise docs at all, we leave for WDW on 5th Jan so the chances of them getting to us before that are remote. Will we be ok without them if I just do the online check in? what exactly is included in the docs? :confused3

It's been awhile, but I seem to recall the luggage tags, customs forms, etc are all included. You can get the customs stuff at the port. Luggage tags I would assume you would need early since you drop the luggage off at the curb.

On another note, if anyone had a St. Martin tour booked with NoRushTours you might not anymore. Sounds like the company has disappeared.

Welcome to our new Thaw Cruisers!!!

I was about to post the same thing about No Rush Tours..there is a thread about them on the main cruise page.

The only thng you may need would be your luggage tags. Your docs may get there before you leave, they usually come about 3 weeks prior to the cruise. Can you call your TA or DCL directly and see if they can send you your tags early or what they recommend? All the forms you can get online, and if you need another, they have them at the terminal.

Now, for us...theme shirts, check
door signs, check
transportation to port, check
hotel for night before cruise, check
pirate and princess tickets after cruise, check

AIRFARE: NOT YET :scared1: we have been holding out hope for a GOOD ding from Southwest..NOTHING....no plane tickets yet..:scared:

Here's the kicker..NO ONE in our group of 10 has their tickets....

I am a mess...plus we are going out of town this weekend, and I know I am going to miss a ding alert.

Everyone else is calm, me I am :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Do you know Tampa is a good alternative to Orlando or Sanford. Just a bit further out, but doable if you are flying in the night before or want to be more flexible for price.

Hello fellow cruisers!

I apologize for dropping off the face of the earth but three weeks ago today I had surgery for an unruptured brain aneurysm. Finding it was a complete blessing but the six weeks between finding it and the surgery were really hard on me. Recovery has gone really well and I have even been back to work for a week now. I am really looking forward to our cruise and I just hope that I feel up to going on excursions and that I am not too tired!

I haven't looked through all the new posts--are there any others girls around 12 years old on our cruise? My DD is hoping to "meet" some friends before the cruise.

Well, I just got on Soutwest.com today and found out that we could have flown for $400 cheaper than what we booked a month ago. At least we have had the security of having tickets. Bethipooh, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING????!!!!! The 5 of us could fly for $594 total. $49 each way, Cleveland to Orlando that's just unheard of these days I hope someone can bennefit from that sale. 40 days till we hit the resort!!!!! Have a good one everybody.

I'm assuming you know this....but if you are already booked through Southwest you can, for free, switch your flights online to the cheaper rate and get a credit.

No, I didn't know that, but we are booked with Continental. Thank you, though.

Ah, bummer.

We almost always fly SWA now. I book as soon as we know what we are doing and then check every few days to see if the rates have gone down. You don't get the money back...you get it as a southwest credit. But since we fly with them so often that is fine by me.

And for anyone else flying southwest the new boarding procedure is so much nicer than before.

Jim

I just checked Southwest and for our family of 4 to fly, its 939.00 roundtrip right now from Raleigh to Orlando..:scared1:

This is why we are holding out hope for a sale...

Love2crooz...so glad you are fine and that you will be able to cruise in January....glad they found it, some are not as blessed and lucky!!

Beth.....get on the web and buy. buy, BUY!!!!!!!!!!:scared: OMG, I would totally be freaking out!!!! We checked with SW and the price for us did drop by $5 for the same time that we are flying. If we didn't mind changing the time and making 2 stops, we could have saved $50 each...not worth it with a 6 y.o. I'll keep my times.

Jim, my only concern is that since we will be on the cruise the day before, we won't be able to print out a boarding pass ahead....unless they have that at the consierge desk on the ship. Also, one of the girls that works for me said that they logged on exactly 24 hours before for their recent flight to Disney and they got a B, and then for the way home, they got a B with a high number and the 4 of them were separated. She was able to sit with her 6 y.o. daughter, but they sat next to someone who took up the FULL seat and then some and she had to sit with her back curved and ended up with severe LBP....not too bad since she is a physical therapist and knew what to do, but still.....makes me a little nervous.

You can go online on the ship for under $10 to check in and print boarding passes and print them out...last year we checked in for 11 in that amount of time. We go to the Quiet Cove Cafe....check it out during the week, it's super easy. We have always gotten A, don't sweat it.

Love2cruz, I am so glad to hear everything has worked out for you! It is just a lesson for all of us that nothing is promised, not even another day. I am glad you will be enjoying the cruise, it will make it all the more special.

No 12 yo girl, but I do have a 15yo who is still looking for a cruise buddy and a 13 yo son????Any takers?

Happy Friday everyone!:hippie:

Remember, you don't have to print them. You just have to check in online. If you have a cell phone with web service you can do it that way. Or you can use the computers on the ship. Or you can ask someone back home to do it for you.

They also offer their business select class now. That is why you may get in right at 24 hours and still be far back in A or even B. They reserve a certain number of A's for each flight for business select.

We're staying over at Disney and flying out Sunday night so we'll just print from the resort or call home and have family do it.

Jim

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, thanks for the info Jim. I thought you had to have that paper in hand. I will have one of the girls in the office do it for us. That will help tremendously!!!!

Beth...did you buy the tickets yet??????????????????????
