Hope your having a great time in St Maarten! If you happen to be walking down Front Street, I would really like to know the price of a Movado watch, Style - womens, Fiero diamonds serial number 0605769 and if you pass lipstick, could you let me know if they stock the Clinique skin care range?

Thanks :thumbsup2

Hey Gixer, I have to apologize, but we didn't get back down to Front Street on Thursday. However, what you can do is to e-mail Little Switzerland or Boolchand's and have them quote you a price on the exact item you need before you go. As to Lipstick, you are out of luck on that one...

A few things to note:

1) They are doing a LOT of road construction throughout the Marigot area and traffic is an absolute mess, even by St Martin standards, so unless you are dying to get there, I would avoid Marigot.

2) Last Mango in Paradise (Jimmy Buffett store) has moved out of their old location and into the T-shirt type kiosk next to the Guavaberry store, which was slightly disappointing (Last Mango that is, Guavaberry was most excellent as always...). We found that they have a big store in the new airport, so that must be their new direction.

3) If you want to grab a bite to eat in Philipsburg for lunch, we found that Tolula Mango's in the Sint Rose Shopping Arcade just between Front Street and the Beach Promenade was very good.

4) Liquor prices are up slightly, though they are still much cheaper than in the States. Cheapest Liquor is at Jewels and Linens in the Maho shopping area.

5) If you need a beach fix for a day, you just cannot go wrong with Ilet Pinel (http://www.visitpinel.com). Pinel is one place on St Martin where you definitely feel that you have "gotten away from it all". There is a $6 per person roundtrip charge for the 3 min ferry ride there (Kids under 8 are free). Last Ferry back in the afternoon is at 4:00pm. There is also a new restaurant this year "The Key" which had great burgers and was doing $1 = 1 Euro which was nice...

A second favorite we found this trip was Friar's Bay, though near Marigot. I would go around past Orient Bay and Grand Case and come in the back way.

6) Though this won't affect anyone on this upcoming trip, try to avoid flying to the Caribbean through Miami if you can. The airport setup for returning International Flights is a nightmare...

Lastly, for whoever is doing the DisTags, our room is 6131.

OK, enough posting. I am going back to mourning for my beloved Crimson Tide which has decided to stop caring about playing football this year...

The triplets (7yr olds) are 2 boys and a girl. The 6yo is a boy and the 2yo is a girl. Needless to say, the 7yo girl is always glad to find a girl companion when they are playing!

Thanks for all the great info Tidefan! I think we have decided to pass on going to Marigot, we want to concentrate on watch/jewelry shopping in Philisburg, and maybe a couple of hours at one of the beaches you suggested. You mentioned a couple of different shopping areas in your post, are they all walkable from one to other or do we need to take taxis? I guess the things we will be shoppping for are watches/jewelry, tshirts, guavaberry products and small keepsakes, Ohhh and the Yoda guy too, DH really wants to go there, is that on St Martin or St Thomas?

Glad you had a safe trip home :goodvibes

The Yoda guy is on St Maarten, though I have never been in either of the shops he has in Philipsburg. If you just want to shop, I would stick to Front Street in Philipsburg. The Maho area is on the other side of the airport, on the SW side of the island. Ilet Pinel, the beach is on the French side on the NE of the island. You would need a taxi to get to either. Philipsburg, you can either walk or take the water taxi.

Welcome aboard you new additions!!!!

2 More Months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

o.k., I just had to let that out!!!!!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone.

I AM I AM!!!!

I can't believe the holidays are here, and then..GULP...its cruise time!!!

I am sitting here thinking, ok, I need to get in gear...I need to get this done..Not only do I have 30,yes 30, shirts to make, but door signs for 4 cabins, magnets for 4 cabins, and get the stuff for the DIS exchange..oh yeah, and I am behind on the update for the exchange, tag and fish extenders...

:scared1: :scared1: ME :scared1: :scared1:

:hourglass

I have just a few more things to do. I have to get a formal dress for me - DH can wear his tux, sort out stuff for the Distag, pirate costumes for DH and myself and then magnets for the door. Perhaps a couple more things for the bag exchange. Order gifts from Shirley at The Perfect Gift Oh and sort out clothes for the trip :-)

Just remembered that I still have to book a rental car and then somewhere to stay before and after our trip. Nothing major though. Waiting for last minute offers on car hire and places to stay should be easy.

OK, my list suddenly looks much longer! Oh well, we will be fine.

It will soon be time to set sail - "arghh me hearties" pirate:

Scared, :scared1: But I am excited too! :cool1: :cool1:

And we just found out that AA have changed our flights and we now have a 4 hour layover in Dallas - just what I did not want with a 3 year old in tow

Well, we just got back from a hectic week at WDW. We arrived last Tuesday night and stayed through this Monday. While I loved seeing all of the decorations at the parks and the resorts I'm not sure I would ever go at this time again! The crowds were amazing. We've gone in the middle of summer, memorial day, fall, spring, winter, etc. I've never seen it this busy.

The best thing about the trip was that it has gotten me even more in a mood to go on the cruise! I need a relaxing vacation. I think I am getting burned out with the long lines, rushing back and forth to see shows, etc. Of course, we're going to WDW for two days after the cruise, but we've decided to make those two days character pictures/autograph days. We're going to try to get our daughter all of those characters she doesn't already have :)

Hope everyone had a great holiday for those who celebrate it.

Jim

WOW!! Less than 50 days to go and still have things to do.... got to get a hotel for the night before and a towncar to get us to the port and back to the airport. Anyone else have alot to do? Found out from our last cruise that time really goes fast this time of the year.

OK now I am REALLY scared.

Ok I finally bought my travel insurance (kept thinking I needed to do it and just hadn't). The car service and hotel have been booked for a while; we have Friday afternoon flights so even if we get weather issues here in New England we should be all set there. Now I just need DCL to assign those guarantee rooms and I'll be all set.

Hi!
We're the Warner family and we'll also be on the Jan 19, 2008 Eastern.
We consist of Barb and Dick and sons Mike (19) and Steven (16). This will be our third Eastern cruise. The "kids" like this one better then the western because it has one more day at sea. They have not outgrown DCL yet! They were brought up right as a Disney family.

We live in IOWA so a break from winter will be appreciated.

See you in January!

Welcome Warner Family.....:thumbsup2

Brett, when will the final documents be sent? We did RCL and they were sent about 1 month before. If Disney does the same thing, we will have them for Christmas!!!!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

I saw the most beautiful gown at a local bridal shop, shimmering green. I think I may have to take a peek and see how much, not that I really need a gown!!!! I think my husband will have a heart attack when he sees the final bill.:rotfl:

Have a great night.

I wouldn't really expect them before Christmas, more like a week or two before we set sail, which drives me nuts. I, like you, would like to have them.....NOW!
