January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

Hey everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trish just went on-line and everything is gone!!!!!!!!!!! CRAZY!!!!!!!

I just e-mailed the consierge/vow renewal person to see if they can help.

OH HAPPY DAY!!!!!!!!! LESS THAN 75 DAYS.

Cheryl

Hello all

Well, I have a big group going (11 total, 4 kids), but no one was willing to stay up last night and do the reservations (I would have but no internet at home). So this morning at about 8:30 EST, the only available times for Palo were on the first night, and no tables big enough for our group. We wanted to wait til later in the week (I guess us and everyone else?).

I reserved two tables, but they're at different times! Oh well, guess I'll be sprinting for Palo's when we first board the ship. They do hold back lots of reservations for on-ship booking, right? I was glad to see that at least I didn't miss out on great availability by not logging on at 3 am (I'm EST), since those of you who did said it was either the first or last nights.

Oh well, all the excursions we wanted were available so at least there's that!!!

Ohhh my gosh! I just logged on to look at excursions again and there are NO palo ressies left at all, and almost all the spa ressies have been taken unless your willing to have a massage at 8am on a port day :scared1:

Still seems good availability for most of the excursions, but thats not suprising really as most people seem to be making their own arrangements for trips.

I was tempted to book the fishing excursion for DH but saw that the Alone time at the Spa was available and booked that for me instead...shhhhhh dont tell him! :rotfl:

I cant believe how close this is now! where has the last 6 months gone? Im getting a bit nervous now, will we enjoy it? is it worth the $$$? will the kids make friends at the clubs? will DH have one too many buckets of beer and try and throw Mickey overboard as there is only so much ''Disneyness'' he can take?

Its been such a long wait and so much anticipation, I hope its not huge great big let down :sad2: Sorry Dissers.....I always seem to go through a down slide before vacation, usually when everything is booked and paid for and all the planning is done and I have nothing left to do but sit and wait!

Another :sad1: today.

DCL released FL resident discounts for January today. Including the cruise prior to ours, and the one after. Bummer. I was hoping to take advantage of that discount. Oh well.... Not my day today.....

But still happy - only 75 more days! :cheer2:

-Kay

We have some friends who were scheduled to go on this cruise with us...she is a travel agent. The agent discounts came out last week and they switched to the cruise after ours because her price went down by half!

Our neighbors tried to book this cruise about a month ago and were denied because the kids clubs are entirely booked! You can still get a cabin, as long as you don't have any kids.

Looks like the holiday has made this a "sold out" cruise! The more the merrier!

Have a great day all.

Missy

**I'll buy the bucket if I get to watch your DH try to shove Mickey over the side Gixer** (You will all have the time of your lives...don't worry  )

Gixer,

You'll have a blast - all your DisFriends will be there :goodvibes

Before you know it, the trip will be there and you will be enjoying your vacation.

-Kay

My family and I are on this cruise too...Thanks Gixer for sending me the link!! This will be our first cruise and we can't wait!! Anyone have any young ones? Our daughter is 4 and she is so excited too!!

I posted in another area with some questions...you all seem to know your stuff so maybe you can help me too...

I am trying to change our dinner seating to the early one (I booked the late one before I even thought about it and now I am on the wait list, what do you think my chances are of getting moved? Also I filed out the medical form and send that in as I am a diabetic and need to eat at regular times and was told it may help get me off the wait list but no gurantees...

also..about the Oceaneers club...is my daughter automatically registered for this, and all I need to do is fill out the online formsnow?

any more info you can offer would be great for me the newbie!!
Jen
:cheer2:

Welcome aboard Jen,

When you go on-line to disneycruise.com you will fill out all your info, there is a link to go on to register your child. When you are done filling out all pertenent info., you can print it and bring it with you.

Gixer.....you sound like my hubby, he tends to get vacation over-load before we go. I usually get that way the night before when I have to make certain everything is where it should be. I have already written a list for packing to check off once we start....just to make sure I don't forget anything!!!

Kay....I am certain they won't discount it because we are all celebrating our anniversaries and they want as much $$$$$ as they can get....you know everyone wants to come aboard just to see how beautiful we all are!!:rotfl:

Wow, just checked cruise calc and St Thomas is going to be BUSY the day we arrive, 7 cruise ships in total all there at the same time :scared1:

St Martin should be ok though, only 2 ships scheduled to be there at the same time as us so hopefully the shops wont be totally packed out and we can get some great bargains :woohoo:

 Welcome Jen to the THAW CRUISE:banana: ......Once you get onboard, I'd go check and see about you dinner seating.......for you daughter, fill the forms online, then, at the port, there is a location to get her the wristband for entrance into the club and you get a pager so the CM can call to pickup your child.

Brett

Do they still have those big wristbands for the kids? Last year we were on the 1st voyage to use them and our kids hated them! I am hoping they changed back so I don't have to hear about how annoying it is the whole trip.

I think you would have a good chance of getting your dinner moved up Jen due to your medical conditions and the fact that you have a smaller party.
We actually do late dinner because we felt rushed with the early......so even if it doesn't get moved you may like it the other way.:confused3

Have a good one,

Missy

We booked our cruise pretty early on but even so all the first seating had gone, second seating suits us as we are late eaters anyway and are always in a rush for everything so are hopeful that the late seating will work a bit better for us, having said that our kids are 9 & 11 and are able to stay up that little bit longer and dont get cranky when their routine is messed with like they did when they were little, if they had been as young as your daughter Jen I also would be trying to get the seating changed to early, tired cranky kids dont make for a happy vacation - good luck!

I have called a couple of times and they tell me that they haven't started on the wait list yet. When does that take place? they have received my medical form signed by my doctor so I hope that helps.

I saw in another post, a suggestion on where to go when I first get on the ship to find out about it. Does anyone know where that was again?

Also, my daughter is 4 and I am wondering if there is anyone with kids the same age?

We've got SNOW!! Why can't it be January already so I can get out!! haha:rotfl:

Thanks All
Jen

Hi and welcome to The Thaw...

I think I read that Rockin Bar D is the place to go for dining changes, but I would check upon entering the ship/terminal.

We have a DD who will be 3.25 on the cruise and is used to playing with girls a year older than her.

-Kay

JenD72 -

My DS will turn 4 the week before the cruise. It appears that there will be a lot of kids on board - of all ages!

I'm getting excited!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1:

We have never requested a server before this sailing. Am I correct in saying we won't know if we got him until the first night at dinner? I am wondering if I should swing by dining changes and be certain it was noted and change it if possible. Anyone have any ideas?

jsheridan and jen.....4 is my favorite age for all things Disney! I do miss that so much, but love watching all of the little ones get so excited. My 9 year old son still gets a little twinkle for Stitch, but the little girls with the princesses are a pretty magical sight :wizard: . My little girl will turn 15 on this sailing........you think I could bring the Snow White dress and shove her in it to see if it evokes the same feeling? ;)

Have a good weekend.

Missy
