January 15, 2012 - WONDERful Mexican Mickeys

We are first time Disney Cruisers (me and DD6 and a friend and her DD 6) we are spending the Aussies big school holiday going to Seaworld, Legoland and of course Disneyland and then finishing off with the cruise (figured we would need the break - kids club here we come!!)

A friend who got back two weeks ago told me about this site so looking forward to getting some tips.

Cheers
Lesley

Yay Some Auzzies! :thumbsup2

My sister (wenuwish) And I are traveling in a group of five people from NZ
It's good to know that we are not going to be the only ones with funny accents on board :rotfl2:

Welcome aboard Lesley:dance3: This sounds like a WONDERful holiday for you!!
My friend told me about the hanging something on the door for gifts - and we do the same - is that the FE?
Cheers
Lesley
Lesley if you look a few pages back I posted a link to people's FE ideas. Basically The fish extender hangs from the fish outside each stateroom. If you participate you surprise your fellow dreamers by putting little gifts inside there FE's and they will do the same for you. I have included the ages and amt of kids in each room, just in case you are giving the kids something different. I will also include any allergies I am told of. This way we don't give someone a gift they can't enjoy, I think this would be especially awful to young children. I hope you all enjoy the experience and remember---- It's just a nice thing to share with each other and spread the "Magic"

Well from some Americans over here....we love the accents!!! My DH loves the Australian accent. I find cruises to be eye opening for the kids. it's wonderful for them to realize that there is more to the world then our little bit of the earth back home. They love meeting new friends no matter where they are from. Looking forward to meeting all of you!!

We are leaving on the Dream...be back soon.:yay:

Hey everyone....Hope you all had a great weekend. For those of you who had to change your time last night...what did u do with that extra hours today?? LOL

I sent all of you a PM regarding info I needed to keep the webpage up and help with everyone participating in the FE. I would be so appreciative if everyone could respond for me...thanks a ton!!!

Also I have been checking out car services for transportation from the port to airport. I saw the Prime time shuttle has a limo for $130...wondering if anyone wants to split this with us and share a Limo???? Thought it would be fun for the kids.

Other then that I have added info to the web page and a cute Mexican graphic. I am getting so excited ....under 70 days now!!!!

Welcome Aboard!!! 69 days and we will be heading to Mexico! I have a daughter who will turn 8 a week after this cruise so maybe our DD's will be hanging at the club together!!

I heard it might be chilly sailing out of LA on that sunday...hmmm maybe I will using my jeans I wear on the plane for the sail-away party too. Ok so I only have one more thing to book. I pricelined a car for the day sat to be able to take DD(11 1/2) to Hollywood. I know we can't take them without taking them to scope for stars...LOL At least thats what will happen in LA I keep trying to tell them that the stars aren't hanging out on the streets waiting for fans to come stalk them:rotfl:

Thanks Michelle.

Last year We went on January 23rd, the weather is good and sunny. I hope the weather will be like last year.

Thanks for that! I've replied through the website, I hope that's all right. Dis wouldn't let me PM because my post count is apparently too low (and I'm too lazy to go make it higher :rotfl:)

:goodvibesYes I got the email....I will add the info this morning. Thanks for responding. :) I am trying to keep this very current as the longer I have to wait on info then I have to use more of my time tracking down people for info. I did this for our last cruise and we had over 50+ staterooms and the hardest part was chasing people for info. So your respond is greatly appreciated!!!:worship::worship:

After much thought, due to the fact we have a few interationals on our cruise and they have more travel time or are coming early to the States for a longer Holiday.....I think we should have the cut off date to join the FE as Dec 15th...that gives everyone a month to finalize their projects. If people wanna join after then it will be a personal decision who includes them. This is probably best for all since we are traveling so soon after Christmas. How exciting for us all. Best Christmas present EVER!!!!

Ok so you guys all better start talking to me....:lmao:I am bursting at the seams to tell the kids and the only thing keeping me sane is talking to all of you. I was gonna wait and just surprise them with Hollywood and then just drive up to the port that Sun and surprise them with the cruise then but I am thinking they will figure it out once we say Cali... Today I think we are gonna get their passport pics taken and send away for them. We have always cruised without them but I think it's about time for them. Well off to do laundry...:laundy:.TTFN;)

Hello everybody! I'm Beth (34) and DH (Mike, also 34), we will be celebrating our 10th Wedding anniversary on the Wonder! We've done the 3 day Caribbean (twice), 7 day Eastern (twice) and Western Caribbean (once) in the past. The last time we cruised was with our son (age 2 at the time, now 7) and our dd (5 months at the time, now 6). BOTH will be staying home with the grandparents while we hit the high seas for some much needed couple time

We are flying from the East Coast of USA to LAX on January 12 and we plan to spend Friday & Saturday at DL. We still need to book hotels for the nights before the cruise and figure out how to get to the port. We wanted to stay at a DL hotel but just can't bring ourselves to spend that $$ on a hotel room.
We've booked the Outdoor Adventure in PV and Discover Scuba on our first day in Cabo. We are looking for something to book for the second day in Cabo (which is also our anniversary) and we are booked for Palo on the 20th as well.

I'm looking forward to chatting and sharing planning/prep as we get closer to our sail date!

Welcome Beth!!! Just wondering if you will be joining our FE?

Ok I just have to vent. I went to the USPS to get the kids passports. Well they must be done before 4pm...it was 4:30. Then you have specific hrs to do them...well during the week the girls are at school and then and sat DH is working...AT THE POST OFFICE!!! I could scream, I am like you people know who he is....I have 65 days to get their passports back and I can't even manage to get them sent out!!! I AM SO MAD!!!

I am worry with our 2 daughters passport too. I checked their passport expiration date right after I payed our cruise and its expired on January 2012. We renew their passport last Friday. and hope its will be ready before cruise. I am worry its gonna take more time, especially with the holiday season.

Michelle - What does the EF actually entail? Is it a small gift for each person or 1 per cabin? Is it one small gift per cruise or one small gift each night? I've never done (or heard of) an EF before, so this is new to me.

As for the passport situation, check with DCL. I was told that since we are starting and ending in the US we did not need passports.

Beth

Beth , I knew we didn't need them just birth certificate which is what the kids have used for all our other cruises but I wanted to get them for them and put them as one of the surprise clues for their christmas surprise. So I am just a little upset that it has been made difficult for me to accomplish this cause the USPS who has specific hrs has worked my husband 6 days aweek so he can never be there to sign. just frustrated.

An FE gift is totally up to you. Some people give one thing per stateroom, some do each person, it's just a fun thing to come back to your stateroom and find a surprise. You can give as many nights as you choose. anything is appreciated. I make or get something for the adults, then something for each kid. I only deliver one night. If you want to do it , you pick what is good for you so you can have fun!!!

Welcome, Kiwis and Aussies!!! We LOVE your accents and will find multiple excuses to hear you talk. ;)

Hi guys!!

My name is Emily and I just booked this cruise today! For this girl who a total planner - I'm freaking out about the amount of time I have to prepare!

My daughter and I (she is 5) will be joined by my XDH (yes, he's my ex, but we are great friends. It's not common, I know. :)) We are going to try and not tell her until Christmas, but I think she's already getting the idea it's coming. I'm not good with surprises!

I work for another cruise line (shhhhh... lol) and have been on 8 Disney cruises in the past as well as LOTS of other cruises in general. This will be my daughters first and I'm so excited!

Our plan is to come in a night early and stay at the Crowne Plaza by the pier. I plan on trying to get that booked tomorrow. Not enough time in the day!

I haven't had time to read the entire thread, and I'm a total FE virgin so bear with me as I have no clue how those work. I'll read up on it, I promise!

Can't wait!!!!

Our plan is to come in a night early and stay at the Crowne Plaza b I am surprising my DD's as well for Christmas. you have the power to keep quiet, especially if I can....:thumbsup2 We are staying at the Crowne Sat night too. We got the priceline deal of $65 + tax.

Today I finally got the girls passports done and hope to get them in the mail in 4-6 weeks. It will be nice to have them and no birth certificates. I am gonna use them as a clue. The girls think we did them today for our Sept /oct cruise in 2012. I think I will wrap them up and have a clue saying something like "I WONDER if you'll need this in a few days" Oh I can't wait!! :lovestruc

Just booked this one. Only taking part of the family due to schedules.

Will be Me (Jeanne), dd17, dd10 and dd8 (turning 9).

Just got off the Wonder MR on Sunday and had a great time and with the Kids Sail Free offer it was just too tempting to resist.

Looking forward to meeting other DIS peeps and hope there are kids close in age to mine.

Flying in three days early to do Disneyland (plus never can count on the weather here in Minnesota during the winter cooperating with travel)

Welcome Jeanne to our fast growing group!!! We do have kids in your kids age ranges. Mine are DD's 11 and turning 8 the sat after we get off the boat. If you go on the web page I have made you can get an idea of the kids aboard. Glad to hear you liked the MR enough to rebook again. I too hope weather isn't to bad. We fly from Detroit to denver to lax...hoping no snow storms!!! We are only flying in the sat before. If I could change my flight to Friday I would but we got web special on southwest and I don't think those can be changed.

Jeanne are you interested in joining our FE exchange? If so please PM me names, stateroom number, and allergies if any.. Thanks off to volunteer at school!!

I have updated the webpage. There is the role call list and under that is the FE list. I think there are 10 rooms that have said they are participating. Please check that I have all your info correct..Thank you!

Thanks for the welcome!

I need to get my daughter's passport into in the mail, too. Must do that this weekend! Ugh... So much to do, so little time! :)

We now are toying with the idea to fly in early Saturday morning and go to Disneyland for the day. I hate being in the area and NOT going. My daughter hasn't been and it'd be neat to have her see the "other" castle. Will make for a long day, but I think that's our plan at the moment.

I know I can keep the secret... it's going to be tough though!

By the way... I'm Emily, my daughter is Joey (Jocelyn, but no one calls her that) and Mike is her dad. We are in an oceanview, but no cabin number yet. We have late seating, but waitlisted for early. Not sure how late seating will work with DD, but I guess if it doesn't clear we'll figure it out!
