January 11, 2009 4-day Wonder Cruise

That is a great idea. I can add that to the final list. Currently the list is alphabetical so I'll just keep it that way and everyone can get an idea of what day they're on by looking at that. We have 14 on the list, though, so two days will have 4 people and the others 3, if that is ok with all?
I think that sounds great, its fine if some days have 4 and some just 3, the main thing is that everyone will get SOMETHING on each of the 4 days. This is going to be so fun, I can't wait!

When will you be sending us the Spreadsheet with the final names and designation of adult/age of children? It will come in handy now as we start to make/buy our FE gifts. Now regarding the actual gifts, are we supposed to do one thing for the adults/older teens and something more child oriented for the kids in the room? I’ve never done this before so if any of you have had experience, let me know…maybe I can post a question on the main board as well for more ideas.

The final list will be sent the 15th. I am still missing two room numbers and I am hoping those people will have their numbers by then.

The spreadsheet has the number of adults & children. It also has the age and gender of the children. You could customize the gifts according the children/adult count, but you don't have to. For a quick reference we have:

14 staterooms
27 adults
10 children; 2 boys, 8 girls
Youngest child is 3, the oldest is 16.
---------------------
Okay, how about this? If you cannot deliver on the day I have you on, that's fine too. I don't want to be really strict because it is a cruise. :)

SUNDAY

Is Eeyore3838 joining this FE? She and her DH above on this page just joined this cruise this week, not sure if they wanted in on the FE exchange or not?

Regarding the list, I think it is great. I agree that it shouldn't be "strict" regarding the days, but hopefully everyone will try to stick to the schedule since there are only 20, so if everyone strayed from their day then it would defeat the purpose of this, which is to try to have us get stuff each of the 4 days. Flexibility is a given, but we should all make an effort to try to stick to this. I think it will work out fine since the good side of there only being 20 is that it wont take long to do all the rooms, so even on a busy day we should all be able to find time to do this.

Jessica, you're a peach! We'll look forward to the list of staterooms with names and ages so we can begin to organize our gifts. I'll pass the info to David and Sheila. Thanks so much for organizing this event - it's going to be great fun!:worship:

Queen Colleen

We've never done FE before. I don't think we will participate in that, but we are looking forward to seeing other DISers on board! :)

For those of you up for the Castaway Cay 5-K Fun run challenge, it is normally held around 8:30am (PLEASE check the ship's navigator that day to reconfirm the time & where to meet) & is from the ship to Serenity Bay & back. I figure after a night of pirating / plundering , etc.... a good "Fun Run" oughta do me some good.
And yes, if anyone of you would like to all meet up somewhere (my best guess would be sometime during day one), please post your response as I don't mind orchestrating/ coordinating it.

Counting down the days!

- Kris -

We would love to meet our fellow dis cruisers! Count us in on that, too! There are two of us. My daughter Casandra 24 who has never been on a ship! This will be sooo much fun!

To Lewiskids004:

I have never been on any DCL cruise ship either but I plan on participating in a lot of "stuff" like Who wants to be a Mouseketer, Mickey Mania, bingo (all kinds), pirate trivia, 5-k fun run (:scared1: ) ,trivia challenge, crab derby races, hula dance party (trust me...ya don't wanna see me do the hula!! , etc. so hey, ya never know, you might even bump into me:goodvibes
Or if ya ever need an extra person in a contest (to make a whole team enstead of just 1 or two players) give me a holler (pm me please & will give you my stateroom cabin #) or if ya wanna just say "Hi to a fellow DISser"

T- minus 30 days & counting!!! :woohoo:

THIS WAS LIFTED FROM AN EARLIER BLIP FROM DISBOARDS WEBSITE SO PLEASE TAKE THIS FOR FACE VALUE FOR THOSE OF YOU INTERESTED....& YES - THERE IS MORE INFORMATION THERE IF YOU WANT TO READ FURTHER FROM THAT CHAT ROOM AS TO HOW TO EMBARK & DISEMBARK FROM THE SHIP,EMBARKATION PHOTO INFO & ETC... Gangway at Port Canaveral Damaged (DATED 12-06-08 VIA DCL FORUM)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Everyone

Just returned from a 7 nighter 11/29-12/6, will do a trip report when I have some time after unpacking and laundry.

Just wanted to let everyone know last sunday a cold front passed through Florida and we got it while we were in Key West. In fact we departed an hour and a half earlier than we were scheduled due to the front approaching.

The winds were crazy with the storm and I guess it was so bad at Port Canaveral it destroyed the gangway that you go enter after you have your embarkation photo taken. It tore the walkway completely off and it dropped into the water. No one was hurt but we were told this morning at breakfast it will take up to 6 weeks to fix. So we had to leave the ship today by the Deck 1 forward and aft gangways and walked into the terminal to get our luggage direct from the pier.

So anyone going on cruises for the next month or so, don't expect to be walking into the atrium for your welcome aboard, you will be going through the Deck 1 gangways.

Dont want to be a pain, but any way we can get Doris and Steve and Jenn and Scott (jjmeeko) on the same day? That is my parents who are traveling with us and my 2 young daughters, and while we will be doing separate goodies, it would be easier to walk the ship with the girls once and deliver both sets (since they will be incredibly mad if we do it without them!) We have explained this to them and they are so excited to do it!

Thanks!

No problem, I switched my name with your parents so you're on the same day. :)

what are you planning on doing???? Reason for the question is we obviously have to get off the ship around 9am (BOO - HISS!! :headache: ) & I have to prep my luggage (9-11pm) & have it ready for ME for pickup (Double Boo & Double Hiss:sad1: ) the night before.
So, I am tempted to just skip 2nd seating dining that evening but go to Dreams (6pm) followed by Room Service (YUM!) & call it a night.
But.....anyone have any other suggestions???? Per se, have Disney fun late into the night or call it an early night or compromise??? Need suggestions please.

P.S. I have a 4pm ( ) flight out at the Orlando airport. So, like what the hey is there to do at that airport for appox 3 hours???? popcorn::

- 27 days & counting!

Kris-

Especially since this is your first cruise (but even if it weren't) I would strongly advise you against skipping the last dinner and going to bed early. The dining order for the cruise is 1223, so as you can see if you skip the last night you would not get to experience the 3rd restaurant which is a bummer. Also, it is VACATION and its only 4 NIGHTS so I look at this way: I'll have the opportunity to sleep when I get home. Sure, it will be a long night having late dinner, then probably going out to "party" in the Route 66 adult clubs one more time, but hey, like I said its vacation.

Regarding your flight, I am in the same dilemma right now, our flight is at 3:40. I really don't know what to do, I was thinking of a) just going to the airport normally and sitting through those hours : ( b)paying for a "day room" at the Hyatt in the airport to hang out (although that seems like a waste, $80! or c) getting off the ship ASAP (7:45am) and renting a car to head to Downtown Disney or something in WDW for few hours. I'm really up in the air on this. Anyone else here in this position? If so what are you doing?

The final FE list has been PM'ed to everyone here with a screenname. If you signed up someone who is not a DIS member, please make sure they get the list. If you have issues viewing the pages I sent, I will be happy to email the files directly.

Thanks Jessica! Perfect timing, I just starting getting together my FE gifts today. This is almost as exciting as the cruise itself, getting this stuff together!

.....quite literally post Yellow "Sticky notes" (no tape please..don't wanna get in trouble by the WDW 'door police') ALLLLLL OOVVERRRR my door reminding me to put my luggage outside my door between 9-11pm the night before we all depart as Magical Express is taking me back to that dang airport (BOO! :sad1: ) the next morning. So between me & all of you KINDLY reminding me to do that, mission accomplished as BOTH me & my luggage will be on the plane......a-t the s-a-m-e time
-------------

Nicole:

:teacher: ok.....I admit it - you must be in sales or something cuz ya convinced me to check out ALL the food restaurants (I didnt know its 1223)! - I really wanna check out Animator's Palate (hope I spelled that right!) & I also see your point of hey....it's a vacation!
---------------

To All:

If there are more of us "Out there" who are faced with the "fun" of sitting out at the airport for a few hours....just a suggestion here - there's gotta be a bar / restaurant there (I've also heard there is a Disney store) so possibly all of us have lunch there? Toss down a few 'adult beverages' at the same time :drinking1 ; thus livening up our respected flights back home & into reality??? I figure that would help 'ease' the transition back into reality - since I have to return to work the next day! :headache:
Again, this is just a suggestion as I am trying to make the best of a bad situation. Whadda all think???? Good idea?? bad idea????? Can anyone else come up with a better suggestion?? This is what I am doing but again, I welcome suggestions - (my American Airlines flight departs at 4:15pm) as I feel the same as Nicole about this.

Please feel free to post your opinions.

- Kris

P.S. 25 days left & counting!! :woohoo:

This may seem obvious, but I am a newbie to this. Do you typically give a gift to each person in the cabin, or is it one bag of goodies per cabin? Just want to make sure we do the right thing!

Don’t worry, most of us (myself included) are newbies at this too. I have done a lot of reading though on these boards about what kind of gifts to give, how many, etc and there seems to be no rhyme or rhythm to it. Some people to one gift per person, or some do one bag of goodies. Personally I am doing a bag of stuff, but I am making sure each bag has something in it for each member of the party (ie- a bag for 2 adults will be different than a bag for 2 adults and 2 kids). Also some people put who the gifts are from and some don’t, its up to you. Just have fun with it!

- A Huge thank you !:thumbsup2

.......travel documents - have any of you received them yet??? :confused3
I just found out my TA is out on "medical leave" & I don't / won't know the status of mine until Monday!:rolleyes1 .
I could use some cheering up.... or am I just stressing over a minor issue??

.... I think I could use a :grouphug: - though I just e-mailed one of her co-workers asking for h-e-l-p!!!!!!!!!!!!!:upsidedow

Man...I could sure use one of those refillable WDW mugs right about now - for I'd fill that bugger with Doctor Pepper asap!: :drinking1

Can anyone "fax" one to me????
