January 11, 2009 4-day Wonder Cruise

3) What one "thing" from WDW or DCL reminds you the best of your trip??

Kris-
I can narrow it down to 2 "things" that remind me most of my WDW or DCL trips...first I always get a an official photo album with the year on it, so I can put all of my pics from that trip into it and remember it by year. I am obsessed with pictures. After that, I would say the WDW or DCL license plates are my next favorite thing. In WDW they always have several out each year, and at least one of them has the year on it, so I collect them on each trip and hang them on one of my walls. My collection is so nice to look at- I have 21 at the moment and plan to add more on this upcoming DCL trip!

Your co-workers keep on asking you if you thought of sending in your resume to Orlando & working there...since you keep on talking about it ....so much - - - - -

To Nicole -

YOU'VE BEEN TO WDW 21 TIMES?????!!!!!!! :worship: WOW! :worship: :worship:

Ok - I've got a digital camera & I am bringing 8 gigs of film & a 24 roll exposure of underwater film as well (gee - ya think I brought along enough film? :guilty: So I've got the photo stuff down ok but.....those license plates have me intrigued. Were inside the parks (or which park) carries them???

**** This was cut & pasted from an earlier blip from someone else. Keep in mind its important to look at your personal ship's navigator to RECONFIRM the time - ****

"...you meet at the gangway at 8:30 AM. Jay (The Pub Meister) hangs out for a few minutes to give people time to show up. There is no official sign, just look for a group of people that look like they are ready to go for a run. They'll be easy to pick out of the flip flop and beach towel crowd.

Now for the running: The course is from the boat, up the main sidewalk, past the beaches, Scuttles Cove, bike rentals, etc. You then run down the air strip and break off onto the bike loop that goes by the observation tower. When you get back to the runway, you take a right and go all the way to Serenity Bay. Then it's back down the air strip and retrace your steps down the main sidewalk. You hit 3.1 miles around when you pass the gift store near the sidewalk to the snorkleing.

When you hit the runway again after the bike loop, he sent the lead pack up the air strip with out him and he says back and finishes the course with the last few runners. You pass by them and wave as you head back down the runway on your way back. He shows you where to stop while you are on the way out (though it doesn't seem like everyone was listening). He has ice cold bottled water waiting on you at the finish which was nice.

It was a nice run and extremely flat, which was nice since it was already pretty hot, even at 8:30. Jay takes your name and room number and a finisher's certificate shows up in your room later that evening. It's the same basic certificate as you get for winning the 3 on 3 basketball tournament and it makes a cool keepsake.

Overall, it was a great experiance and I recommend it to anyone who would enjoy it. Jay also leads the power walk right after the run is over."

--------------- HMMMM...... I'm thinking after "Pirates in The Caribbean Party", I will be able to do this in just.....over 45 minutes!

Kris- actually I've only been to WDW 12 times in 12 years, but some years they had more than 1 license plate, plus I have a couple DCL ones and 1 Disneyland one which is very rare, so thats how I have 21. As far as where to get them, I usually get them in the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney- you can't miss it, its the biggest Disney store in the world. If you cant find them (which is likely b/c the store is soooo huge, just ask for help and a CM will point you in the right direction). Although also I have gotten others in stores in the parks, which is also where I've gotten some that just say the name of the park instead of WDW. So if I were you I'd start with the World of Disney store, but also poke around in some park stores too. On the ship I believe I got the DCL one on board in the gift shop and the CC one on CC.

Nicole:

Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2 I am going to Dwntwn Disney on day one - to do some shopping (cds, dvds, etc & now the license plate thing"ee") & later see a Cirque Du Soleil performance at 6pm - so again a huge thanks for pointing me in the right direction! :yay:

Kris- I am decorating our door! I've started already it is so fun! I hope others join in the fun too, but even if ours is the only one decorated in our hallway I'll still be happy getting to see ours everytime we come "home" to our stateroom!

Jessica-

I know our deadline for joining our Cruise Meet/FE Exchange is tomorrow, so I wanted to make a suggestion and see what you think; I actually got this suggestion from another thread on these boards. How do you feel about assigning specific days of the cruise for us to make our rounds and drop off our FE goodies to everyone? That way, for example we don't all deliver our goodies on the first day, and then have nothing to look forward to for the rest of the cruise. I was thinking of just dividing our list by 4- for example if we have 20 families signed up, we would have 5 scheduled to deliver each day (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). How does that sound? I think its a really good idea so that the FE "magic" continues for the entire duration of the cruise. Let me know what you think!

YEA!!!! Glad to see you (and HOPEFULLY others will follow) do the same!! :goodvibes - After looking on a few other Disboard chat rooms, I've stumbled into having an extra treat awaiting for me when I get "home" after a long <but magical> day on the ship.....and that's having NIGHTLY room service deliver Milk and cookies to my room. ----- N-O-T just any cookies but Chocolate CHIP COOKIES! YUM!
I figure that would be a wonderful way to wind down my day while dunking "dem cookies into da milk!" :woohoo:
Just an idea for anyone as there are other things one can look at as well via room service.

and why?? I am rebooking while onboard the Disney Wonder cruise ship (for any January Wednesday in 2010) & my wants/needs are that I want a hotel that offers sit down meal type restaurants (breakfst, lunch or dinner) as well as a 24 hour (always open) kind of a "get a quick bite to eat & go" kind of a thing as I come & go throughout my day.
I am leaning towards to Swan (due to the interior layout of the room & bathroom) but what is the deciding factor in all of this is the answers to my question. So in short, I am need of help on this dang question & I could use some kind advice -

:tinker: PWEASE!!

Hi all! My DH and I may be joining this cruise. We should know by Tuesday if we will or not. It will fall on our 2nd Anniversary, and as Florida residents, there's currently a good discount out there for us.

To WDW Princess 71:

And speaking of tip, has anyone checked out a Nassau restaurant called Graycliff?? If so, good reviews or bad??? Just curious as I am tempted to also give it a try there as well (along with a good bottle of wine).

- Kris

pirate:

My DH and I stopped by Graycliff on our cruise last year as I had heard great things about it. The problem is though that they only serve dinner (at least that's the case when we were there). We did get a tour of the cigar factory and took pictures on the beautiful grounds. It was so empty that it felt as though we were trespassing.

Here's hoping that we get to come along with all of you on this cruise! pixiedust:

I have a rather "Goofy" favor to ask & its about those "Fish Extenders."

BACKSTORY:

About a year ago, I bumped into a co-worker friend of mine who has 2 teen-aged daughters who (like me) like all things Disney. The friend of mine& I (the Mother of the two kids) talk every now and then but one day , I asked her if she thought about taking her daughters to WDW - as a way to celebrate getting through high school. She said no but was warm to the idea. NOW flash forward to now about a month ago.
She asked me if I would send her & her family some pictures of my trip. I said yes. I began to think of how & when. I stumbled into the idea of sending a few cds of pictures off my digital camera & box it up & send it to her & her family. BUT.....here is where a simple idea takes off!
I repitched to her the above listed question & she said yes. I asked if its ok to book for her & her family a ressie while I am onboard (day 3 on the Wonder). She said yes. I asked if her daughters are aware of this..yet (trying to keep this a surprise). She said no. I replied why not get them a "Birnbaums Guide to WDW" book as a Christmas gift...thus surprising them with the trip (Jan 2010 via the ressie I book for them). She liked the idea.
So, my box morphed into a magical box of sorts for in it I am putting 3 t-shirts from Castaway Cay, some pictures of WDW /DCL, autograph picture from the Princess gathering & a trip report.

But..... I need a little extra :tinker:

Can one of you "pwease" help me add a little punch to this box by crafting a personalized (with tiebacks) fish extender?? The ages of the 2 girls are 12 & 15 & they both like Cinderella & the Jonas Brothers.
And this will be their very first trip to WDW. -
**** AND THIS IS A CHRISTMAS GIFT SURPRISE*****
(The Birnbaum book - which means a trip to WDW!)
My intention here to spread a little pixie dust myself (through my box) & have fun knowing I helped to put an extra smile in someone's heart and you can join in on the fun if you would like.
It would be so nice if one of those fish extenders could find its way into the box that I am putting together (feel free to place a card in it saying "from whom to whom" for example).
If interested, please pm, post or e-mail me with a response as obviously there is more information I would need to give you.
I greatly thank you and appreciate you for listening.
oh and by the way.....me and sewing????? If I have to sew (say I have a hole in one of my pants pocket) well....let's just say ummmm... I er...... use a stapler!!!:guilty:  -- so I am not very good in the sewing department I am afraid to say

Am I the only one who does not have a fish extender yet? I am starting to panic, especially since I do not know how to sew, and have not seen any in my price range on ebay. Does anyone know of a store that would carry something like them?

Just wondering if anyone on the cruise has been upgraded yet? :cloud9: Or has been assigned a room who had a guarantee room.:wizard:

Thanks for the update Jessica! What are your thoughts on my previous post suggestion regarding assigning days for groups of us to deliver our FE goodies so that it is spread over the length of the cruise?

Hi everyone! It's official - My DH and I will be on this cruise! I just booked it tonight! Now I have to decide what else to book :) :goodvibes

That is a great idea. I can add that to the final list. Currently the list is alphabetical so I'll just keep it that way and everyone can get an idea of what day they're on by looking at that. We have 14 on the list, though, so two days will have 4 people and the others 3, if that is ok with all?
