January 11, 2009 4-day Wonder Cruise

Ok... I am stumped & need some advise. The day you check out of your hotel ( 4 day land / 4 day sea package) Are any of you heading out to one of the WDW parks (for a few hours) BEFORE heading on over to the cruise ship???? If so, which one?? - If not, why?
I am torn between seeing AK for a few hours (from CB resort) then head on over to the ship. Good idea?? Yes / No?? Need suggestions / opinions please.

You could do either one- it depends on what is more important to you. If you want to be on the ship as early as possible to start enjoying the pools, etc, then skip the park. If you don't mind getting on the ship later, then do the park. Also I'm not sure what transportation you're using, if you are using DCL bus transportation, then they choose your pickup time, and that may affect your decision. If you are driving yourself or having a towncar, you can pick your time. Either way, you'll have fun!

To WDW Princess 71 -

Thanks for the tip. I've decided to go to MK the day before I head out to the cruise ship and NOT go to AK (the morning of); thus giving me the ability to rest up a bit before the DCL provided transportation leaves CBR at 12:45pm.
So, I am guessing I will be on the cruise ship (or standing in line waiting to get on the ship) around 2pm..more or less. So, if ya happen to bump into me, I will be sure and give you a Texas smile and a friendly hello.
Say, just curious, if you had to name a few GOOD things to eat while on the ship, what's your favorite????
Reason why I ask, is I am having fun making sure I drop 10 pounds of weight so I don't put 10 pounds on while on this trip!:scared1: But........just something about those rice crispy treats dipped in chocolate..they seem to be calling my name....

Knewton64- my favorite thing to eat on the ship is definitely the chocolate souffle at Palo, it is the best i've ever had anywhere! My sister and I are HUGE fans of chocolate souffle, aka chocolate "lava" cake, but Palo's is the best because they actually cut the warm center out of the cake, POUR in hot fudge and then put the cake back in place...it is to die for! I'm so ready to cruise right now just for that dessert!

To WDW Princess 71:

Chocolate Souffle eh?? Ok....now THAT definately trumps those measly wimpy rice crispy treats any day of the week!!! :woohoo: Cool - I am checking into Palo (Saturday of this week) & if I can add that to my on-line reservation.
Thank you for the suggestion as you come across like someone who is a veteran at DCl vacationing. Me? First trip ever on DCL (& WDW) & looking forward to it.
Say, I have 2nd seating dining but if you are up to it, I can "PM" my stateroom # to you but you need to write back explaining how to do that &....possibly we meet somewhere & say Hi?? I am traveling solo & would love to play those trivia contests & such but I need some extra people so we can all make one team. You up for this??

Kris- yes I've been on a DCL cruise once before, and I'm obsessed with these boards, planning books, etc so I think I know wayyyy too much info about DCL than one should ever know! But seriously I am a Disney addict and love WDW (been there many times) and its been 5 years since my Disney cruise, so I'm super excited to go again. I'm also happy to help anyone with advice. For you, if you are interested in Palo, you should not wait to book a reservation- do so right now if there are any left. You have to go to "My Cruise Plans" on the DCL website to add Palo ressies, and most are already gone. I would logon asap and get whatever you can, and if you want a different day/time, you can change on board if anything else is available.

You are so lucky you are going on your first WDW and DCL trip at once...you are going to have an amazing time and that awe you'll get as a first timer is unforgetable!

Regarding the PM'ing, you just click my screen name (or who's ever's you want to send one to), then click "send a private message" under contact info. Its easy.

I'd love to meet up at some point. I think someone here is planning a meet and greet for the first day too. The trivia things sound fun I'll have to check the navigators to see when they are but if there is nothing else going on that I want to do more then i'm def in for doing some trivia with you!

Just click on Jessica's screen name, then once you get to her page you'll see a link to send her a private message (pm). And no, you are never too old to participate in the FE exchange! My sister and I are in our 20s and we are as excited as little kids! Just pm Jessica your info and stateroom # once you have it, and you'll be good to go!

Cant wait to go!! Anyone have any suggestions for a hotel? We're coming in the day before, and renting a car, and we don't have hotel reservations yet? Just found a FE on EBAY but the listing for FE's are really expensive! Found it under pocket holders. Have a great weekend!

My daughter and I are staying at Disney, but this past September DH & I stayed in Cocoa Beach at the Country Inn & Suites and loved it.

Sorry I didn't answer your question about how to PM me. It's been one of those weeks at my house, so I haven't been posting. I see someone did explain it, though. :)

I paid a lot for my FE on ebay, but honestly, anything with a pocket works. Heck, even a tote bag will work. It doesn't have to fancy. We actually have way more adults on the list than kids, so PM me your info as soon as you can and I'll add you to the list.

This weekend I'll be out of town and nowhere near a computer so if anyone PMs me between the 29-30, I won't get to answering it right away. Anyone else still deciding on whether or not to join, the 30th is the last day I will add to the list.

We are so close now!! YAY!!!!:dance3:

These are the names I have so far. If I missed you, please PM. I am missing a few room #'s, but I know some won't have them yet. I would like to get the final list out by Dec. 15th if possible.

Thank you for the suggestion! Finally figured it out! I had to have 10 mesages posted before I could PM someone. We are as excited as little kids also, hope to meet you guys on our cruise!! Have a wonderful day!

Updated my ressie & will check out Palo - thanks for the tip. :goodvibes And speaking of tip, has anyone checked out a Nassau restaurant called Graycliff?? If so, good reviews or bad??? Just curious as I am tempted to also give it a try there as well (along with a good bottle of wine).

Kris- sorry I haven't been to the Graycliff restaurant myself but I've heard very good things about it from a co-worker who has been there. She has very good tastes, and I did see pictures and the menu online and it looked great. Also heard their cigars are nice too.

We are also coming in the day before and staying at the Radisson Hotel at the Port (in cape canaveral). I've heard good reviews about it from these boards and other travel sites, and it has a nice pool too which we are looking forward to since we'll be there by 11am that day. If you decide to stay there let me know, it would be fun to say hi the day before the cruise (this goes for anyone else here too that may be staying at Radisson also!)

Jessica -

Ok - I'm in....I just pm'ed you with my information.

Looking forward to the fun...
(30 days left until Christmas) :santa:
(35 more days until my birthday) :yay:
(42 more days until the start of my WDW vacation) :woohoo:

1) Ok...for those of you into Disney movies, I am wondering if the Adam Sandler movie (set to open Christmas day) "Bedtime stories" will be shown on the ship.
Now wouldn't that the kinda something...one day it raining gumdrops but beware.....one may run into Aspen! :scared1:

2) ok....is it advisable to pack Mouse ears in your suitcase or ship them back home??? Reason why I ask is I am getting a lot of requests for them from my co-workers (I think they are jealous!) & I don't know if they would pack ok in a suitcase. HMMMMM....I wonder if the airlines would count them as a carry-on if I wore them on my head

3) What one "thing" from WDW or DCL reminds you the best of your trip??

:confused3 G'Day Jessica
I see you have added us in dont forget our children Roslyn 16 years and Adam 10 years, Our stateroom is 2618. I am also a newbie to these pages and was wondering about The PM thing but with only a couple of links it will not be happening.

The list I have been posting is not all the info that I have. On my "official" spreadsheet list, I do have your children. I have added your room number. Thank you. :)

The actual list that will get sent to everyone will have either the DIS screenname or real name or both, depending on what I was given. It will also have the number of adults and children in each group and the ages of the children (in pink or blue). It also has room numbers. It was too much info to post every time, though. :goodvibes
