January 11, 2009 4-day Wonder Cruise

It is actually Comfort Suites, not Comfort Inn that you want to book. We did that in 2004 and are doing so again on this cruise. Why do you need to book 2 rooms? Children under 15 are free if staying with their parents.

I have a rate of $180 ($201 w/taxes and fees) for the hotel. Its the AAA rate. See if you can get that on the CS website, I just got that rate 2 days ago.

Try not to be apprehensive about doing this since its your first time. It really is so easy, just get in the cab for the 10 min ride, checkin the hotel, then walk over to Atlantis. Very smooth and a heck of a lot cheaper than the DCL Atlantis excursion that charges outrageous rates per person. Any more questions just let me know.

We have 3 kids (2 charged) and 4 adults so we have no choice but to book 2 rooms. I just checked the rate on the website for Comfort Suite (sorry for the error writing "Inn", must be the excitement) and you are right, the price dropped. YEAH! I think that I should book ASAP with the mature rate (my mom is over 50) since I don't have the AAA/CAA. THANKS for the info!

Thorghall-

You're Welcome. I'm glad you found the lower rate! Maybe it will even drop more for us before we go! Definitely go ahead and book now because it can only go lower, and even with you getting 2 rooms it is still so much better than paying "per person" through DCL's excursion!

yes, I received mine actually yesterday, but I get them quicker than most probably as I am in FL.

The final FE list has been PM'ed to everyone here with a screenname. If you signed up someone who is not a DIS member, please make sure they get the list. If you have issues viewing the pages I sent, I will be happy to email the files directly.

:cheer2:

Thanks Jessica
Recieved the FE list with thanks. Nice to hear every one is getting there cruise docs but some how I dont think mine will show up before we leave Australia. See You all Soon

Are we going to get to meet each other?
I read in the beginning that someone was planning on it. It should be fun. I hav a 9y old daughter who needs friends in the ship.

I would love to meet everyone, it would be so nice after we've all been "talking" so long on these boards! When would be a good time to meet? I would assume the earlier in the cruise the better, but if we met on the first day, when would be a good time?

Ok...I am just taking a guess on this but - my best guess is (for those of us who want to have a brief "Meet & Greet") have it in the early evening - say right after the "Sail Away Party"?? Or say at 9:30pm w/us meeting at the Ariel statue & then we meander off to the Prom Lounge for a while?? Yes, count me in on the "Meet & Greet" and along w/ WDW Princess & Mayraguma...that makes 3 ship cabins. Who else????? Respond back & lets get a list together along with a time..:yay: & or a better place to meet....(I don't mind orchestrating this).
.....or just write a note on my cabin door memo board :goodvibes as it should be "vveerryy" easy to spot me a mile away for I will be the one running around everywhere like a kid on Christmas morning as this is my 1st trip to WDW /DCL :cloud9:
--------------
Travel Docs: Anyone else receive theirs??

--------------------

Just a thought but.....in this day and age of instancy &/or witnessing WDW emotional meltdowns (aka "Going Disney") while at the parks, I thought it would be a great idea to write one big thank you note for all the Disney Characters & present it to Guest services for approval. I mean, how does it feel to live the life of a Disney Character?? What do you think THEY see everyday?? It must drive Chip & Dale NUTS
So as I am presenting to Guest Services my photo mat (day 1), I will be also presenting to them a thank you note to pass along to the Characters; along with a few magnets to use in their room. Again, this is just an idea for all you artsy/ craftsy DISers out there who believe in "paying it forward" to all those who help bring to YOU a Disney smile in your heart.
-----------

P.S. For those of you who want any pictures taken (from the DISmeet & greet or if you want someone to take a picture of your family) , just bring your camera w /you & I don't mind volunteering to do this for you :earsboy:

Just read about renting a room at this hotel. Can you tell me why you are doing that? What access do you get?? Are you going to stay at the hotel versus going on the ship, or is it just to stay during the day??? Sounds intriguing!

I replied to you via your PM. If you have any more questions let me know either here or in the PM. In short, renting the room gives you FULL access to the Atlantis beach and pools and waterslides, for a fraction of the DCL Atlantis excursion price.

I like your ideas for the meet and greet. I'm a little concerned with meeting right after the sailaway party though since some might have early seating and would need time to go get ready for dinner. So maybe the later time would be better...although I would say no earlier than 10:00, because late seating (including me) is at 8:30 PM, and dinner will surely be longer than 1 hour. 10:00 at the Promenade Lounge sounds cool, on my last cruise they always had a great little duet singing, nice atmosphere. I think if we met later we could relax more without having to rush anywhere. Then any adventurous adults could take off to the Route 66 district afterwards for more fun! What do you think?

Regarding the cruise docs, still haven't gotten mine yet : ( but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for before Christmas.

Regarding the thank you note for the characters, I'm definitely doing that along with some candy as I've heard both are well-received.

Lastly that's so nice for you to offer to take pictures. I'm a huge picture person so that would be really great!

Count us in, just give us the place and the time and we'll meet up. I'll be traveling with my hubby, my two princesses, my mom, my aunt and her 6 yrs old princess. We have the early seating so far. SOOO excited!

Kris thats great! Count us in for the neet and greet. Where is the Ariel statue?? I've never been on this ship. Room 2560 for us Sherry and Casandra. What are people finding for their door? My daughter(24) has never been on a cruise in her life, and I want this one to be really special! I am excited to tell everyone that I visited Disneyland California a few weeks ago and got a little gift for each cabin with a disneyland gift baggie from the store!! I was so excited when I bought them, and the cashier looked at me a little strangly when I asked for 17 bags also!:jumping1: :jumping1:

Kris-

Especially since this is your first cruise (but even if it weren't) I would strongly advise you against skipping the last dinner and going to bed early. The dining order for the cruise is 1223, so as you can see if you skip the last night you would not get to experience the 3rd restaurant which is a bummer. Also, it is VACATION and its only 4 NIGHTS so I look at this way: I'll have the opportunity to sleep when I get home. Sure, it will be a long night having late dinner, then probably going out to "party" in the Route 66 adult clubs one more time, but hey, like I said its vacation.

Regarding your flight, I am in the same dilemma right now, our flight is at 3:40. I really don't know what to do, I was thinking of a) just going to the airport normally and sitting through those hours : ( b)paying for a "day room" at the Hyatt in the airport to hang out (although that seems like a waste, $80! or c) getting off the ship ASAP (7:45am) and renting a car to head to Downtown Disney or something in WDW for few hours. I'm really up in the air on this. Anyone else here in this position? If so what are you doing?

-Nicole

Nicole-we're renting a car, and I think I would love Downtown Disney! Never been to WDW. How far is it? Do you park in a special area just for downtown disney as going to the parks? Or is it all one? Anything good down there?? That's a great idea, then the Disney Magic is not over yet!!:yay: pixiedust: :dancer:

So far, we have the following cabins interested in a "Meet & Greet":

1) WDW Princess
2) Mayraguma
3) Knewton64
4) JJmeko
5) Thorghall
6) Lewiskids004
7) ?
8) ?
9) ? ok everyone....lets not be bashful! We have room for more! popcorn::
10) ?
11)?
12) ?

Now time.........I am ok (as well) with 10pm (day one of the cruise).

The Place to meet: Promenade Lounge also sounds ok to me as well.

But......before we all sign off on this - I feel its only fair to "open the floor" to any other time/place suggestions please. I feel lets give this 3 days to field any other suggestions before I feel to make it a "motion" to have it at 10pm @ the Promendade Lounge on Day one of the cruise.
And yes, for those of you who want any pictures taken (from the DISmeet & greet or if you want someone to take a picture of your family) , just bring your camera w /you & I don't mind volunteering to do this for you :goodvibes

With me....it's easy.

****************** Goofy ***********************

Why?? I took a Walt Disney 'I.Q." quiz off the internet a few months back & scored out as Goofy - "A person who tries really hard in life but every now and then makes a mistake." Yep, describes me to a tee.
Besides, I've got a Texas twang accent and hey....Doesn't Goofy have quite an ubiquitous way of saying the word "Gosh" ?????
What about you?? Post your replies & lets watch the fun!

I think its a great idea to open it up to the floor for other suggestions on a place/time for a couple of days, and if nothing else pops up then we'll stick with Promenade Lounge at 10PM on night 1. And please the more the merrier for the meet and greet!!

WDW is a little over an hour from the port. There is parking right at DTD for the shops and restaurants, its free and much easier than parking at the huge theme park lots. There are lovely stores and places to eat there. Most don't open til at least 10 or maybe 11 though, so depending on your flight time you'll have to decide if its worthwhile to go or not.
