January 10th, 2014 Cruise on the Magic from Port Canaveral

My experience is that a meet in the Promenade Lounge on deck 3 before the safety drill (maybe 1/2 hour) seems to work the best. It's early on the first day, and there is usually plenty of room in the lounge to gather as a group.you can break up and go straight to muster stations from the meet. I've had others that were tried on deck 9 or 10 just before or during sail away, but they were always confusing and hard to separate meet people from the sail away crowd.

We would love to meet everyone. As this is our first Disney Cruise and we are bringing my niece. She might like to meet someone her own age that she might want to hang out with. We also have questions about Pin Trading on the ship. And is there really a Pirate Party? And do they have eye patches for those who want to participate or must we bring our own? Arrrggghhh! So much to do and so little time....I wish I had found this forum earlier. We are working on our FE's and our door decorations. I have heard that only magnets are to be used on the doors. No tape or anything else. Maybe if anyone would like to join us for some Geocaching once in Nassau maybe we can set something up for this. (just an FYI) a hand held GPS comes in handy but some just download the app for iphone and android. Let us know about the "Meet and Greet".:wave2:

On one of my cruises someone suggested we wear green Mickey heads in our lanyards so we could recognize each other on the ship and that has been the one cruise where I met the most people. Just a suggestion.

On another of my cruises we had 2 cabins that had changed and I never found out where they went.

And Yes we would like to meet up.

Still GTY. Checked yesterday and tonight. We went over Thanksgiving and a family was a few days before leaving before finally getting theirs. I'm hoping for pixie dust! I honestly don't even know what category I booked. LOL

We are also still in GTY status, too...

www.cruisefish.net is a good place to go to see how many stateroom categories are "sold out" if you want to take a crazy guess if you'll be upgraded. Use the "Finder" link at the top to drill down to the cruise line and departure date.

What kind of Mickey Head? What was it made out of?

We got assigned cabin #:

Rebecca 2611
Kim 2547

Excitement builds.
Kim and her daughter are busy working on their FEs. They are newbies.
This will be our 8th DCL but my first Magic so we are excited over the newness for us.

I updated the google docs too. Checked our online res again and we are still waiting on a cabin assignment.

Merry Christmas to everyone! Can't wait to be on vacation!

Yes i was! I guess this is one time it's a little awkward that we share disboards screen name.
So excited to be back on the Magic. We sailed on November 1st from Miami and it was awesome (though i was accosted for my positive review by some people). Cant wait to sail on the reimagined Magic for the second time!

Question that I cannot locate an answer on the FAQ pages: Does the Magic require the use of your room key to activate the lights, etc. in the room?
:cool1: Derinda

Not sure if this was answered, but no the magic does not require the stateroom key to power the lights, tv, etc. :)

Oh and for favorite characters
Gaynel (DW)- Tinkerbell
Collin (DH)-Belle (don't ask lol)
Noah (DS8)-Pluto or Avengers
Kate (DD6)-Sofia, Anna and Elsa from Frozen, Stitch
Jett (DS1)-Mickey

I've made some updates to the google spreadsheet. Two of us are still waiting on room assignments.

Coffeeguy - can you confirm the room assignment on the room of your that has a question mark (7606 or 7610)?

Anyone else have any changes? Likes, dislikes or celebrations to add? We'll be on a plane two weeks from today!

Jill

Thank you so much for organizing! We are so excited as this is our first cruise and we just told the kids. Just so you have it all, the Butlers in 6116 are Danielle and Rob and DD 6 Sydney and DD 4 Taylor. They both are presently obsessed with Anna, Elsa and Olaf but love all of the princesses, M&M and Sofia also. Last newbie question, is there a price range per person we are aiming for? Happy holidays!!!!

Just wanted to say thank you for the great speadsheet organization!! Great info! Our little one was so very excited when he opened the Magic ship ornament under the tree!! The dancing and craziness was AWESOME!! We are heading to Saratoga Springs tomorrow to celebrate Kyle's 6th Birthday and my... Well, I just won't say # Birthday... He was one of my greatest Birthday gifts ever, i love that we share such a special day!! Totally forgot he would increase a year by the time we were getting on the Magic!! So EXCITED it is ONLY 14 sleeps!! Oh my... I have so much to do!!

See you all real soon!

Yes, that's us! I was just updating it since Jules had originally sent it. I hadn't been on the boards prior. She was nice enough to throw all of us in with her :)

:tink:We are new to the Disney cruises ships and we were wondering if there is anything you might pass along to us about what we might need? We keep seeing things about the "light card", and we even heard about the pin trading time. We have our lanyards ready to go!
We are busy working on our FE's and our door dodads. We can't wait to pick up our niece and head to the ship. Also, we are staying at the LaQuinta in Cocoa Beach the night before, because they are allowing us to keep the car there. Any buddy else doing this, or have anything they want to tell us about with regards to this?
I'm sure there will be more as time gets closer!
Tomorrow morning will be 12 more days.....we are so excited.
