For those of you who live in Florida or have just come back from Disney, what are you wearing? I'm starting to pack today (yippee!!) and am trying to figure out if I will need a lot of "winter" stuff. The forecast calls for mid-70's high/mid-50's low. Is it warm enough for sleevless tops and shorts during the day right now? Does it get cold enough at night for hats/gloves/coats/sweaters, etc.? The weather right now looks to be the same as next week when we're going, so please let me know what you're wearing today!

Thanks!

Oops..... I'm using my DH's computer............this is "threeboysmom" posting about what to wear, not "threeboysdad"!! He could care less!!!!!!!!!

From what I've heard, I'm supposed to expect EVERYTHING!! We're gonig 1/6 - 1/14 and I am planning on taking sweat shirts, pants, gloves, hats and coats. We're coming from the Midwest, so the latter stuff will be on us when we board the plane! I'm also taking swimsuits and shorts. I bought DS7 those pants that "zip off" into shorts. I figure that will be more convenient than all of us having to change. I plan on getting a locker each day to store stuff in if needed!!! Maybe we'll see you there!

We are taking our 6th January WDW trip next month. We have been going every January since 1999. You are really going to have to check the weather right before you leave. We have experienced weather in the upper 80's all the way down to 28 degrees last January!! There have been times where we wore shorts and t shirts all day and night, and times where we wore jeans and sweat shirts all week. We also had a time where we wore shorts during the day, but once the sun went down it got chilly and we all changed into jeans and sweatshirts. YOu really just never know. I would definately pack both shorts/tshirts and jeans/sweat shirts. Check the weather channel online the day before you go, or the day that you leave and see what the weather is showing. It changes so much that you really cant go by what it says today for next week. It could drastically change!! LOL I check the weather every day for the 10 days before we leave and write it down to compare the differences. One thing I noticed it that it says rain alot on the weather and we never get any when we are there. Dont forget rain ponchos! If the weather says its going to be chilly in the evenings, you might want to throw in some gloves and maybe a heavier jacket. I found it best to layer shirts, sweatshirt and a medium weight jacket then to take showsuit type jackets and big heavy sweaters. Its great that you can do laundry at night if you have to use more clothes to layer! I think if it is saying 50's for night, you will need jeans/sweat shirt for the evenings. Like I said, keep checking the weather because that might go up to the 60's for a low and then you wont need as many warmer clothes! Have fun! We have 19 days to go!! WOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Florida winters are hard to peg down, so I'd take a little bit of everything! I've lived there most of my life, and one day it can be sunny and warm, and the next day it can be in the 50's. We currently live out-of-state and just got back a few days ago from visiting family in Sarasota, a couple of hours southwest of Orlando. Even though I watched the weater forecasts up to the day before we left, we were still hit by an unexpected cold front and had to run out and buy more sweatshirts while we were there. On the other hand, by the end of the trip my kids were running around in t-shirts and shorts. We're a big fan of the zip-off pants when travelling to Florida at that time of year -- you can wear them long, then zip them into shorts if things warm up. I don't know where you're coming from or what you consider to be "cold," but my kids (and I) have been known to wear thin knit mittens and caps during the evenings while we're in Central Florida. Hope that helps! Enjoy!!

ditto to all the above but want to stress it is dependent on what you are used to ...as far as gloves and stuff go we have never used them or felt the need since it has always been only "cold" at night if at all when we have been there( to us, coming from the north) but right now i have everything from jeans and fleeces to swimsuits... and of course can not even close my suitcase! Hubby NEVER... as in refuses to since he is going to FLORIDA... takes a fleece or jacket and usually gets cold some time during the trip. this time I am "hiding" it in the car whether he likes it or not!

jann1033-I'm thinking along the same lines - I plan on packing several headbands and pairs of stretchy gloves into my backpack (even the big kids each got a pair of little stretchy gloves in their stockings and when I said remember to bring them on the trip they all groaned "yeah right, mom, like we're taking gloves to Fla:rolleyes: !")- but who will be the smart one when I pull them out of my pack at night and they are all so happy to have warm fingers and ears!?;) :smooth:

It has warmed-up a little here in Central FLorida. Shorts and T-shirts are okay during the day (mid-70's)

Temps are down in the low 50's at night. So make sure you have some jeans and a light jacket.

This weather is supposed to hold for the next week or so.:sunny:

Here's hoping for warm sunny weather next week!

let's make that for the next "3" weeks at least! anyone later than that is on their own:sunny: !

I hope it's pleasant weather for EVERYONE!!!:sunny: :sunny: Of course since you are going to the Happiest Place on Earth, sometimes you are willing to forego perfect weather!!! But it's always nice to have the weather cooperate!!:sunny: :sunny: (In case you're wondering, I was hoping that Mother Nature reads the DIS Boards and is taking my suggestions to heart!!!)

Tag Fairy--still clappin' and still believin'!!

As someone else mentioned wear all your warm things down on the plane in layers. DH loves his barn coat because the lining comes out - and the kids and I wear a sweatshirt and a fleece - then we can wear these at night when it's cool. We also head out very early, and it can be cool then!

But don't forget those bathing suits! The pools are heated and if you get a balmy day, experience the resort pool!

We just returned from an early December trip. Be forewarned, as everyone has mentioned before....the weather is really all over the map! We found most days to be pleasant in the afternoons (although I was NOT hot in my jeans) and as soon as the sun went down, it could get quite chilly. Pullovers felt very comfortable in the evenings. I found I packed too many shorts, and not enough warm clothes. So I was thankful our villa had a washer/dryer as I did laundry every evening for those pullovers we really needed. Do bring a little of EVERYTHING...then you will be covered (literally)! The mornings (8 - 10) could also be quite chilly, and pullovers felt good until the sun heated things up.

Hope that helps :)

We went in Jan a few years ago. We packed everything and worn everything. In the morning and evening it was chilly, some days it stayed chilly. We had extra clothes with us and used the lockers incased we got hot or chilly.

it was a great time to go, not very long lines..

I live in FL and we travel to WDW almost every Jan for oldest DD's bday. First off let me tell you it is the best time of year to go IMHO. Pack a little bit of everything, last Jan. we went week before and after MLK holiday and the weather was nice , however we have also had experiences where during the day it is warm and at night it was down right cold. You honestly just never know. I pack everything from our bathing suits to sweatshirts. Have a wonderful trip we will be there again late jan. this year.

We usually go in Jan. or early Feb. and I will never go back during that time without my earmuffs. I know that sounds a little extreme for Florida, but if your out in the wind (for instance the ferry or astro orbitor) they make all the difference in the world esp. for people like me who sometimes get earaches from cold wind. have fun!

oh and don't forget the think stretchy gloves ( Magic gloves).
